Okay, this is a short, silly thing, inspired by some talk at [livejournal.com profile] cultofrances today about Frances pairings. I thought about the interactions between him and the two guys in his life in my story, who haven't been featured together yet, though I've thought it through quite a bit. It also uses something extracted from Castaway Stories, which gave me an idea. Well, you'll see. ;)

Is that a question? I've got a question. )

Since my last drabble post, which mentioned Buck's nude paintings of Jill (an idea I've been working with for a while, behind the scenes), [livejournal.com profile] beyondheroism__  has been busy drawing me some really great pictures to use with the custom painting feature on the easel. One of them was in a landscape orientation instead of portrait, and I really loved it, so I went hunting for a way to make it work. There's the drafting table, but that adds a filter effect (I'm not a fan of this feature, since it really LOOKS like a filter, and they could have just included drawings that look like blueprints instead - it seems really lazy to me). Another option was recolouring a painting from the buy mode catalogue, but most of those have frames, and frameless is much better for a student art show. So, my hunt continued...

What I found was really great: the Maxis More Functional - Painting Easels Superset by AnnoeskaB at TSR. This set gives you options for different easel sizes, including a table-top easel and a kid-sized easel, and also three new formats - a landscape rectangle, a square, and an oval. All of these work with the custom painting feature that has been included since Pets, and frames can be added if you have FT or AL. It also includes a "continious painting and selling" feature if you want to start up an art-type sweatshop, and there are new paintings included for the default paint mode (even a few grilled cheese). I can't vouch for the quality of these new paintings, because I haven't tested them, and I'm leaning towards skeptical until I see them, because I'm super picky about art.

AnnoeskaB is a featured artist, so you know what that means, and where you should go to get these. I'd most likely donate to her if she hade her own site and freely offered these, because they're awesome, but I'd never subscribe to TSR.

Now, you knew I'd show some pics of this, right? )

I've been trying to shoot a scene on a large lot and it's causing me nothing but grief. The game has crashed about four times now, and it doesn't usually do that. It's the Mercy Hospital by sunni9676, and I've even attempted to switch it to a residential lot to reduce the amount of sims on the lot while I'm trying to shoot the scene, but nothing works. I deleted some of the cc, so maybe that's the problem (though this hasn't caused me problems in the past). Either way, it's really slow to work with, so I'm switching to the Shoo Flee Medical Centre by twoflower, which isn't quite as big as I'd like it to be, but will hopefully crash a whole lot less (read: not at all).

I found this amusing little detail while attempting to set up the scene, so that makes it almost worth it.  )

I don't think I've ever shown you the theatre section of the fine arts building at LFT.

Well, here it is... )

Thanks to everyone who voted in my poll for chapter 28. The results have given me a clear plan for how to approach it, and the order should work out perfectly, now that I've thought about it (with maybe one exception, but that should be okay too). Our dear little Frances won by a landslide. I guess when you end up in simsecrets and such, you're a big friggin' deal.

Let's check in with him for a moment and see what he thinks of his popularity... )

I've being meaning to ask you about this for a while, [livejournal.com profile] simgaroop. Is Helena a crazy party animal in your game? Is she really excitable? I ask because she never seems to stop cheering in my game. She'll do something and then she'll cheer immediately afterwards. Like, she'll walk up the stairs, stop, and then cheer. She's seriously high on life (and possible some other substances).

I took some pics. I thought you'd get a laugh out of it.

WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!! )

Yes, this Strangetown extra takes place in Pleasantview. That makes sense, right? Well, in the sense that it's part of this Stranegtown story... yes, it does. I've been working up the other neighbourhoods to catch up with Strangetown, since this will be relevant to the story (and it's helping me with some of the details). I'm working on a drabble about Frances, which ended up being about Beau too, which then became more of a drabble+ with pics, so I've been playing with the Brokes a little to get some shots.

Something exciting happened: Brandi had twins! The family sim aspiration benefit really does work (but not every time - I played her earlier and had only one child, but didn't end up saving it) . I named the identical boys Gilbert and George. You get the reference, right? I hope so. Anyway, here are a couple of pics. You'll see more in the drabble. I'm having a lot of fun decorating the trailer.

Huggle time! )

Boy, did I ever LOL at this... )

Oh, I almost forgot this one, and it was my favourite shot. )

On another note, I'm setting Thursday as my personal deadline to post chapter 27, part 1 (of 2). You can expect it somewhere between 5:00 pm and 11:59 pm, Newfoundland Standard Time (look it up - it's 1/2 hour ahead of the Atlantic time zone, which means I'm just that much ahead of the rest of North America).

I came across this screencap, and thought I'd share it. I was going to save it for an extras post, but I seem to be really bad at getting into those lately. I have tonnes of material, but I can't muster the energy to post it, since trying to be funny is hard. I'll post one eventually, though, I promise. I have stuff that goes WAY back.

For now, here's one that just made me smile.

Ahh, there's nothing like relaxing on the hammock with a good book on a sunny day, but Ripp seems to be DOING IT WRONG, as they say...

I'm sure that most of you are already aware of the lovely children's clothing that fakepeeps7 has been posting on MTS2 lately, but I just wanted to gush about it here anyway. Her latest upload, the Back to School Collection, had some great stuff in it.

Just when you think you have them all figured out, those sims manage to surprise you, don't they?

I need a laugh right now, so maybe you do too. I'm sure this will elicit a tiny giggle, at the very least.

I have another drawing to share. My significant other completed his second, "new and improved" attempt at a drawing of Johnny, Ripp, and Ophelia, so here it is. I'm definitely going to make this into a painting recolour for the game at some point.

Jill's secondary aspiration is popularity, and she's been rolling wants to throw a party, so I decided to give it a try. I invited most of the college kids, but only Johnny, Ripp, Tank, and Bottom Summerdream showed up to the first one.

I dropped in to check on Jill and Buck today, and was very amused by what I found.

I've been playing and writing a little, working towards the next Strangetown update, which should happen sometime this week. The next chapter involves a lot of characters in some small way, so I've been working my way around town and catching up with everyone. It's been a lot of fun. We'll get to see a lot of the characters that people have been asking about (yes, that does include Vidcund... many of you will be happy to know that I've been working on his story a lot lately, and have found an increased interest in him). I have a couple of fun surprises in this next one too.

So finally, someone at EAxis decided to think of the aliens when they designed a game feature. The tanning that sims can get with BV (which I think is pretty cool) actually works on the alien skintone. I almost jumped for joy when I saw it. After seeing them mess up so badly with the heatstroke in Seasons, I was expecting the worst, but instead, I got a tanned Johnny Smith.
