I've been trying to shoot a scene on a large lot and it's causing me nothing but grief. The game has crashed about four times now, and it doesn't usually do that. It's the Mercy Hospital by sunni9676, and I've even attempted to switch it to a residential lot to reduce the amount of sims on the lot while I'm trying to shoot the scene, but nothing works. I deleted some of the cc, so maybe that's the problem (though this hasn't caused me problems in the past). Either way, it's really slow to work with, so I'm switching to the Shoo Flee Medical Centre by twoflower, which isn't quite as big as I'd like it to be, but will hopefully crash a whole lot less (read: not at all).
I pulled in this random downtownie to act as an extra for a scene, and what did I find in her memories...

Oh, Ripp. Is there any dormie/townie/downtownie in my game that you didn't deflower? That boy gets around WAY too much. I don't even remember this one.

Date: 2008-11-04 02:25 am (UTC)I know exactly what lot are you talking about! I shot the last few scenes of Gen 5.6 in that hospital and my computer nearly cried from the strain. It's amazing as a set, true, but it has so much custom content (walls, floors, recolors, you say it) and it has so many floors that I guess only ultra powerful gamer computers can run it without lag or crashes.
If I ever need another hospital scene, I'll have to look for a smaller alternative (or create my own... HA! as if I could build something besides a shoe box! :D). Hope the Shoeflee clinic is a better lot for your plans!
LOL at that random townie's memories. If Ripp has the LTW of woohooing 20 sims, I guess he's already ultra platinum by now, right?

Date: 2008-11-04 11:39 pm (UTC)I think my approach in the future would be to use the exterior to get one establishing shot, and then do a true set to fake the interior hallway, or something like that. That's how I did the hospital scene for a short with Jaxy and Zoe a while back. It was an empty tower with a room in it.
That isn't even Ripp's LTW. *snicker* He wants to be a Rock God. It's funny, because if he rolls that LTW after he achieves the first one, he won't be able to achieve it, since it's already been done. Maybe the MATY hack would prevent it, though. I'm really hoping he'll roll a family sim want after the first one is achieved. I'd seriously melt into a puddle of goo if he wanted to reach his golden anniversary. :)
Ripp is actually perma-plantinum already, though, because he wished for it from the genie.

Date: 2008-11-04 09:38 am (UTC)I know that hospital - I downloaded it for my stories too. Haven't used it yet, but there was this other hospital I was using before that was just as big and therefore laggy - I'm just glad I have such a gaming machine to cope with it! (Although when you're taking stills, performance doesn't matter so much.)

"Uuuuhm..."
The horror! lol, but I still love that guy.
Too bad for that Mercy Hospital, it looks pretty nice.
