While working on Chapter 36 of Strangetown, Here We Come, I decided the Smith household needed some family photos to cover the walls, so I created this collection of wall hanging recolours on a variety of meshes from the game (and one cc mesh). I was asked to share them, so here they are. Perhaps the Smith family in your game might enjoy they too. :)

The files are clearly labeled so you can easily delete any that you don’t want (and all of the images specific to S,HWC are grouped in one folder).

I posted this a while back as a followers gift on my tumblr, and now I'm finally getting around to posting it here. They’re PlumbBottoms cloth diapers, which come in 12 colours inspired by The Sims 2.

I made this ages ago, but never got around to sharing it until now. I hope some of you will find it useful. It’s a set of recolours of the Rip Co. Little Baker Oven using Aelia’s retro colour actions.

I created my own version of Willow Nigmos for a short story I'm working on. Like many of the dead sims in Olive's graveyard, Willow has a broken face. I also prefer my sim relatives to actually resemble their children, so I'd probably recreate her anyway even if it were possible to successfully resurrect her. My Willow is a mix of Olive and Ophelia, with her brow, nose and lips resembling her sister and her eyes and cheek/jaw area resembling her daughter.

Cal and Krim Tomato, the twins of generation four, have been added to the Tomato Legacy sim download page. Humbelina and Goodwin will be uploaded soon, too, now that they've all reach the young adult stage. Please use these sims however you want. Have fun!

This one's been a long time coming, despite the fact that it's been sitting in my downloads folder forever. I really have no good excuse for not sharing it before now, besides having the attention span of a goldfish. :P

The Veronaville Llama was created in response to Patrizio Monty's sim bio, which describes the Monty property as a llama ranch. Disappointed by the lack of actual llamas to populate this ranch, I decided to attempt my own version. The result is a cheerful breed of llama, known more for their suitability for the heat of East Veronaville than their intelligence (really, they're a little dim-witted at the best of times). They have a wonderful coat, which makes a fibre that keeps you "warm in the Winter, yet cool in the Summer." They're a friendly breed, and are good with children, not unlike a dog. ;)

Feel free to develop your own breeds of llamas from my breeding stock. My game really couldn't have enough llamas. It's the official animal of the sim nations!

I'm now one step closer to having my uberhood game back to where my Strangetown was when it imploded. I added some of the original sims from my story back in today, but not until I had a little fun re-working them.

I was never 100% satisfied with the looks of these three. I created them in a similar manner to the one I used to make Lyla Grunt and the Worthington family, using Maxis premades and templates and breeding them with the pacifier until I got interesting results, with some slight edits. Despite this, they still managed to look quite bland and Face Two-tastic, and Debbie even had the Maxis PT in her lineage! Something had to be done, so I fired up BodyShop and tweaked them until I was satisfied. Debbie's now more alien-ish (slightly bulging forehead and all) and everyone looks just a touch more unique.

This is the first official post of the Maxis Match Painting Project, which will be my humble effort to make more Maxis Match artwork for the game, make currently available MM artwork more versatile, and to expand on and create links between the decorative wall hangings and the easel paintings (something that I desire for storytelling purposes, so maybe others will also find it useful). It's something I've been playing around with for some time now, so expect to see more downloads around this theme in the future.

My first offering is a recolour of the basegame Suspense mesh using the texture from Numenor's extracted Maxis "Lost & Found" #16: Modern Print. This will remove the need for an unnessary extra mesh (part of my ongoing attempt to downsize my downloads folder) and will allow the Modern Print to be used with Buggybooz's A Feast of Frames set, one of my personal favourites for expanding the usefulness of Maxis meshes.

I love Amaryll's Nouveau Dress. I love Morrisimia's retextures of Amaryll's Nouveau Dress. I love Pinketamine's mesh edit of Amaryll's Nouveau Dress to add Shannanigan's heels. I love them all together, so I copypasta'd this together for my own use. I thought others might enjoy them too, so I'm sharing them. All credit goes to the respective creators involved. Thank you for all of your amazing work!

And thank you to the Singles gals for modelling them! ;)

Thanks for all your support and advice on my last post. ^_^ I'm not sure if I'm any closer to a decision on it, but your input was very helpful. Today, I was puttering around with the game and even taking some sim pics, and I realized that there's a lot of cc that I've made that's completely finished but I've never uploaded, and that's just not right! So here's a painting download for you. Nothing fancy, but I thought it was kinda clever in an "I went to art school" sort of way.

I've uploaded the sims from my participation in GoS's Good Genes III contest. Marlene, Markus, Imogen, and a bonus sim are included. Pointless fact: All of the names were taken from the names of photographers in Phaidon's The Photo Book. When I'm too lazy to actively think about names, I let my fingers do the walking, and that's my current go-to book.

Yeah yeah yeah... get to the downloads. )

I'm way behind in posting this, but I ended up going back to edit this guy after he was already completed and packaged up, so he's been in the works for a while now. I wasn't quite pleased with his genetic structure or his styling, so I went back to make some changes. I'm glad I did.

After I snatched up this prompt, I realized it was by [livejournal.com profile] rocking_kitty, the same simmer I created for in the last round of TPBM. What can I say? She gives good prompts. ^_^

Rocking_kitty said, "TBM will make a masculine (think Schwarzenegger on über-steroids) who does his best to look feminine. He has to be S2 or S3 with red hair and a long mouth, too."

Hey, everyone! The joys of summer have been keeping me from simming as much as I do when the days are shorter, so I haven't been around much. It's been raining lately, though, so I took a little break from gardening (in sim garden terms, I have about a 6 by 8 fruit and veggie plot this summer, and I'm currently doing a lot of weeding! :P), and went cc shopping. While I was browsing through the recent monthly themes at GoS, this little gem by psychosim caught my eye, and I was inspired to create my own variation on this idea.

I've uploaded all the sims that have been born into the Tomato Legacy, or have been created for use in that hood.  I will be adding to this as I go.

Note: all custom eyes are by [livejournal.com profile] kinemortophobia, edited by [livejournal.com profile] smjoshsims to use the Maxis sclera.

I decided I needed another custom drumkit for one of my sim bands. This time, it's for Llama Dance Party, Edie Worthington's band. I used textures from one of the drawings that children create on the FreeTime activity table, featuring an adorably simple llama! I made them more colourful and got them all dancing. The wood has also been recoloured in a vibrant orange to match the whole bright and colourful dance party vibe.

Let's face it. Some gifts are meant to be opened in private. ;)

After I made those first default replacement gift packages, which were a simple switch of textures, I started playing around with other colour combinations. Of course, it wasn't long before I started testing out woohoo icons on the texture. It ended up being more complicated than I thought, with the way it's mapped (if you look closely, you'll see what I mean), but I finally came up with something that worked. I hope you have fun with this silly little gift. It reminds me of a favourite Christmas classic of mine.

And now for something completely different... :P

The odd little visitor seemed like an ordinary penguin at first. Then farmer McGreggor heard an unusual sound coming from the backyard, near the barn. When he went to the window, he noticed that the penguin was talking to the snowman. Not chirping or squawking or whatever it is that penguins normally do, but talking. The penguin spoke in an otherwordly language. On closer inspection, he noticed the penguin's dark eyes, like two black holes in space. The penguin noticed him looking, and glanced back at him, following him with her alien eyes. The penguin hollered something he couldn't understand.

Don't worry, man! We come in peace! Do you have any fish, by the way? )

Though drummers sit in the back, Helena isn't one to fade into the background. With its purple stained wood veneer and bold woohoo image, this is a drumkit that commands attention. All eyes are on Helena, which is just the way she likes it.

I've designed this object for use in Strangetown, Here We Come, but I hope others will have just as much fun with it in their own game.

strangetomato: (francesXmas)
I'm still playing around with different types of default replacements, and (as you may have guessed) I've turned my attention to the easel paintings. When I sim, I tend to play a lot of artists, so I can't tell you how many times I've seen that hot pink painting with the girl in the green dress (and the huge hand), or the clowns, or the picasso homage... but it's a lot.

And, if you know me at all, you know I'm very much a Maxis-match sort of simmer, so I've been exploring some options for replacing those same ol', same ol' paintings that we've been staring at since the basegame, but keeping them in a style that will match the game. Sims 3 brought us a whole new set of easel paintings, and also included some real gems that imitate famous works from art history, so I thought it'd be nice to make those available for use in Sims 2.
