Hey, everyone! The joys of summer have been keeping me from simming as much as I do when the days are shorter, so I haven't been around much. It's been raining lately, though, so I took a little break from gardening (in sim garden terms, I have about a 6 by 8 fruit and veggie plot this summer, and I'm currently doing a lot of weeding! :P), and went cc shopping. While I was browsing through the recent monthly themes at GoS, this little gem by psychosim caught my eye, and I was inspired to create my own variation on this idea.

The ever-so-adorable child Johnny and toddler Jill were happy to demonstrate this doll replacement for you.
Actually, little Johnny whined about having to do something as silly as playing with dolls, but he agreed to do it anyway. Heehee.

My original design attempted to recreate Jenny and P.T. No. 9 Smith as closely as possible. I used textures from kinemortophobia's eyes (and the edits by smjoshsims), aledstrange's Maxis improved facial tetextures, and I pulled the blond hair colour from one of simgaroop's hair textures. I then chopped everything up and blended and floodfilled and painted until I ended up with something that (I hoped) passed for the Smiths. Considering how small the textures are and the odd mapping, I think they turned out pretty well (even if I do say so myself).
And yes, P.T's shirt texture was hand-painted by me. I have amazing skills, I know. XD

The dollhouse dolls sometimes pull textures from different places to create a variation on the dolls, so you can also end up with a female sim with green hair and a dress with a rather loud pattern, and a male alien sim with a bright green shirt, grey slacks, and green (bald?) hair.

And sometimes they play with the two women or two men, and sometimes its two of the same doll, as always. It's random, so it was a bit of a challenge getting them to play with the right dolls for this photoshoot. The toddlers stick to just one doll at a time, usually for eating, as I'm sure you've noticed.
I hope you and all your sim children will have fun with these!

Also, I didn't know that the game pulled different textures to make the dolls different. I always thought they were the same. On the other hand, I never paid that close attention to the dollhouse, lol.
