Strangetown extras: Johnny, Ripp and Ophelia artwork - take 2

I have another drawing to share. My significant other completed his second, "new and improved" attempt at a drawing of Johnny, Ripp, and Ophelia, so here it is. I'm definitely going to make this into a painting recolour for the game at some point.

Pretty cool, don't you think? The colours are great, and I'm really liking what he did with the body shapes. He also intuitively knew that Johnny should be the butt of the joke. Why not laugh at the green guy, right?

*snicker* Ripp's hair got censored. Now how did that happen? (At least I amuse myself, right?)

It looks really good. I love their body shapes, the fact that he got their personalities so well... (Ophelia's modest laugh) and... the background is quite cool too, he got the desert feeling really well. :D

I wonder why he put a huge black box over Ripp's head though. :\

This is awesome, the body shapes are almost exactly how I imagine they would be from your descriptions of the characters. The only thing missing is an arched brow at the bird who dared to leave a.... deposit... on Johnny

I couldn't just spill the beans on the hair with this, now, could I? Well, I could... and I was sort of tempted to just show it, but that would make my big "surprise!" moment sort of pointless (and I have such a good expression picked out for that, it would be a shame to waste it).

It took me a good ten seconds to figure out why you censored Ripp's hair. I was like "What's the big deal? His hair shaped like a penis?" Then I remembered that he gets a haircut we have yet to see. D'oh!

Your SO is soooooooooo freaking talented! This looks great! I love how Ripp's all out laughing at Johnny, but Phi is trying to stifle her laughs bit. Just how it would be in game. The background is really great too! I've never seen cacti drawn in the shadows so well!

You should put this on that huuuuuuuge painting, that one that takes up like 4 slots and costs over $5000. The proportions look good, and I'd totally download it and put it in ever room! ^_^

Lovely picture! I really like the expressions of the three characters, they really match their personalities. Though I figure that as soon as the shock from being "poo-ed" by a bird wears out, there's gonna be an arched eyebrow and a long, long glare directed at the other two. This is NOT funny! :D

The censoring also made me laugh :P.

Yeah, you should make a painting or poster with it. I'll surely use it to decorate my lots ^^.

Turned out a seagull got him right in the ear... at first he thought I'd spit at him. Man I laughed so hard for about 20 minutes I couldn't breathe, and then I continued to laugh at it for the next week.

He'll be very happy to hear that. I love all the little details of his own style that he's put in there, but it still seems set in their world. This gets me thinking that there should be telephone poles in the game, though. Strangetown really should have a little depressing row of telephone poles right down the main road, shouldn't it?

Yeah, me too. I think he really nailed the right look for Ophelia. I love the curves. All the body shapes are great, and I get a real kick out of Johnny's calf muscle definition. He has chicken legs. :D

I love it! It's gorgeous, but damn I wish we could see Ripp's hair!

I love the strange greenish colors and Ophelia's left hand. Also, Johnny's hair is shiny and pretty and his feet are charming too and Ripp's body language is awesome. This is a really great picture of the three of them!!! :D

(if you make it into a painting recolour is there anyway you could possibly use one of the paintings from either the base game or nightlife? I-I don't really have many expansion packs and would LOVE to have this ingame.)

Well, I thought it would be lame to just give it away in this drawing, when I had plans to include it in the story... but I wanted to show off the drawing right away too. I had to compromise.

I really like the colours too. It's a great palette. That hand is so odd, huh? It's like a proper little extended finger, as if she's drinking tea with the Queen. Johnny's feet are almost big enough to be flippers. Ripp's are getting close too. I love seeing them all exaggerated and cartoony like that.

I'm going to make them on basegame and nightlife meshes, for sure. I may do others, if the mesh is really good, but I'd like to include options that everyone can use. The rest would be a bonus.

I'd love to see some of your work made into in-game paintings too. Would you be okay with me doing that? I'm thinking about your recent one with Tank and Johnny and the one with the three of them in bed, since those were the most finished (though I do love all the sketches too). What do you think?

Isn't it great? He's a talented one, for sure. I'll pass on the feedback, since I know he'll love to hear that you liked it.

I like to take some credit for his colour sense, since he said that he first learned to play with colour by copying me. *snicker* Mostly, he just followed my lead in using a lot of complimentary colours, instead of always analogous. He definitely has his own sense at this point. I'm sure I picked up a thing or two from him that way too. Using a lot of "sky" blue, for one. It's odd how artists who work near each other tend to pick up things like that from each other.

That little finger is such an odd little detail. I love it.

I love this! I too thought that his hair was censored because it was shaped like a penis. And when I saw Pixel_and_Bean's link, I laughed for like a whole minute because that's what I was picturing! Nonono, his hair must be reeeaally low maintenance because we all know how lazy he is! :P

But back to the picture, I love the colors! But I think the best thing about it is definitely Johnny and Ripp's feet. They're huge!

I LOVE Ophelia's pinky, lol! I don't know why, but that part just endears me to the whole thing. I love little details like that.

Before I had kids I had a pet cockatiel who I loved (sadly he was killed by my neighbor's dog) and just about every morning before work he would fly to me and ride around on my shoulder. I can't tell you how many days I went to work with bird doody on my blazer, lol!

I live on an island, so that's where my seagulls come from (makes sense, right?). Well, it's a very big island, but we mostly tend to live on the coast. My current residence is only a five minute walk from a huge beach. In my experience, the modern seagull tends to flock to the McDonald's parking lot, rather than the beach, though. Sad, but true.

You must live further inland, do you? That would be hard for me, I think. I'm so connected to the ocean. I feel weird when I'm away from it for long. Most places I've traveled to in my life have been islands too, I've noticed. It must be a thing that comes with the island mentality.

I love his art style, really makes me wish there was a Strangetown comic book. Also love the coloring. And the way the car is shaped. It's a fun piece.
