I've started uploading S,HWC extras to my Tumblr, so if you're interested in seeing any of these little outtake shots, please drop by and check out that tag. One of the main reasons I stopped doing those posts was the general tediousness of prepping and uploading photos for Livejournal and Tumblr makes that process really easy. It makes so much more sense for little gameplay snippets, so I'm going to go with that. Why fight it?

I had to do a little sim business last night to prepare for shooting the scene with Tank, Frances, and Co. That included recreating one character that was missing from my restored backup hood.

The sparks just (literally) flew between these two. (And Kendall really does HATE Sugar Tits. XD)

Actually, not taking many new images (playing seems to work out fine, as long as I keep it simple and don't bother trying to capture things) gives me a chance to catch up on many of the little extra photos and things I've already taken and set aside to post, but didn't get around to, like this extracted image from one of the magazines in the game:

Is that Buck Grunt, future pet stylist to the stars? ;)

I have no idea what's going on inside that dorm room, but it seems like bad news for Gunnar.

I followed [livejournal.com profile] meetme2theriver 's directions for replacing the facial structure of the broken Maxis sims to give Jessica her fixed face, and then proceeded to breed up a family for the Picasos. Seems to have worked like a charm. Thanks, Meetme!

I've included a photo of my results, but be warned that it's a minor spoiler for the story. ;)

Spoilers, spoilers everywhere... )

She likes it. She likes it a lot. Zoe likes it, too. *wink wink nudge nudge* All the talk at band practice has Ripp thinking it might be something to look into, but he knows Jaxy will take this as a sign of his inability to resist her superior style and mock him forever for copying her. He settles for making lewd and suggestive remarks every time she sticks her tongue out at him (which is often). Jaxy tells him to dream on. When he says, "Oh don't worry, I will." he gets a punch in the guts. And so it goes. Business as usual.

(The tongue piercing is by [livejournal.com profile] lithium_lily, aka ghanima_atreides, and found here.)

I was playing the Newson lot in Sim City just before I started to notice the trouble with vanishing lots in my game, so I thought I'd share this little extra (as the idea of rebuilding is keeping me pretty disinterested in my game these days, so I'm lacking in anything fresh to report). I knew where I was going with Ginger in S,HWC, having played her in Pleasantview already (and the matchmaker pulled her in from the bin!), but I wanted to get a sense of where the rest of this twice-orphaned family might end up. The news wasn't good for Gavin:

This is the first time I've seen the death by hail in my game! I've had hail before and sims have complained that it was stinging their skin, but it wasn't severe enough to cause damage to them. This time it actually showed up on the ground (I'm guessing that's the sign you want to look for to know when to stay inside), and Gavin was getting pelted so hard that every time I cancelled the "Ow! Ow! Hail!!" interaction and tried to get him to run for it, it was only a matter of seconds before he was stopped by the hail again. Gallagher was with him, too, but since he was still a child, he was harmed, but not killed. Ginger was in bed, exhausted from the unpaid caregiving of her adopted siblings, and I couldn't get her up in time to plead for his life. Poor Gavin. :(

The one I really feel for now is Ginger. Her sim bio says she was "a troubled child with a troubled past" before she was adopted, then she's faced with the death of Gloria, her adopted mother. Then, after acting as a mother to her siblings with Gavin's help, he too dies, leaving her a single teen mother of four! This girl has had quite a life, without even getting into my own version where Gavin and Ginger end up falling for each other in a quasi-incestuous manner, once they become "parents" together. Troubled past, indeed. Luckily, the matchmaker in Pleasantview Spoiler alert! Spoiler alert! XD )

I've always been fascinated with the odd little witch cabin on the "hidden" (it is if you don't have a camera mod, anyway) Watervista Palace lot on the edge of Belladonna Cove. It really begs for more development, and gets me thinking about the witches and their mythology. I've been planning to build up more of a hidden town for the witches out there, where the Cordial's actually live, when they're not blending in with the rest of society as normal sims.

I was working on the lot this morning, when I noticed something really interesting... )

Here's a family portrait of the Goodie Family in my game. They adopted a toddler late in life, since the nest was feeling a little empty and they wanted to do some good for someone who needed it (hence the name). If you'd been paying close attention to my story, you might catch who this little boy is. His lot in life improved significantly when the social worker took him, to say the least. They live in Bluewater Village.

The dog was a new puppy generated by the game, and I think he's just the cutest thing ever. I named him Brody.

I've decided to come clean about the identity of the Worthington-esque toddler from my previous post. She is, indeed, a member of that family, and the story of how she came to be is an interesting one, and purely an accident. A good accident, I think. She's a great little sim.

And she grows up well, too!

But where did she come from? Here's the whole crazy tale... )

Just thought you might appreciate this super cute display. ^_^ Awww... she loves her cow.

Also, mystery child is mysterious. ;)

I've been experiencing some serious creative block lately for just about everything. I have images ready for the next story chapter and also for an update to The Tomato Legacy, but I'm finding it nearly impossible to sit down and write anything for them. No amount of coffee seems to help. I thought it might be somewhat helpful to finally post these pics from my recent playing of Blossom Moonbeam in Bluewater Village, as a way to get myself moving again.

Blossom graduated (I know... amazing! :P) and moved into the Romantic Residence, one of the packaged lots that comes with Kitchen and Bath stuff, previously seen in Strange Bedfellows. I gave it a bit of a makeover, as you can see:

I was inspired by the Earth Day theme on GoS, so I gave it a green roof as well as a greenhouse on the roof. There's also an orchard and a hell of a lot of solar panels and wind turbines. In my mind, they're completely off the the grid, and I know that each green energy source does reduce bill costs in-game, so they're probably pretty close.

I'm happy that plants do grow on rooftops (this is my second rooftop garden in Sims 2), but they do float above the garden patch, which is unfortunate, but hardly noticeable from below the house.

That was the question my SO asked when he saw me working with this pic of Vidcund:

I have to admit he has a point. Actually, his first question was "Is that Owen Wilson?" :P As you can see, I've gone with a  version of the Vidcund styling that's much closer to the original, and he really does look like he'd fit right in with the nerdy oddballs in one of Wes Anderson's movies. It's the glasses, I'm thinking. They're always piled high with offbeat and often ridiculous accessories. And on that note, any fellow fans of Mr. Anderson (Though he sort of lost me at The Life Aquatic. It's been all downhill from there) will appreciate this video of his version of the Spiderman movie, if you haven't already seen it. I nearly died laughing, for real.

And if you choose to take this as a hint about what I might be working on, then fair enough. ;) I intend to do some sim storytelling with my long weekend. And playing, lots of playing.

Charlotte had her little Langraabs:

Rita... and Loretta. Oh dear. What a face!

Charlotte is following in her mother's footsteps with two girls. She's now pregnant again. Will she have a little Malcolm this time? And more importantly, will he get his father's looks like dear little Loretta here?

I'm glad I went back to my plans to do the Veronaville chapter. I remember now why I wanted to do it in the first place, aside from the character development and plot usefulness. I have a lot of fun playing around with my faerie territories, and I'm fairly inspired to continue with the next part of chapter 35. I spent some time this morning shooting images for it, so an update could be happening sooner than you (and I) thought.

I have a couple of pics that probably won't end up in the chapter (at least not in the same way), but they do show some of my mythology for Faerie, which I touched on in my installment of the first Round Robin Legacy. Also, it shows that I get carried away with sim breeding.

Not super spoilery, but still... )

Thought I'd post a picture of an attractive alien. Just 'cause. Her name is Brigid (last name is a secret for now), and was born to a Maxis sim. The abduction was unplanned. I think you'd probably be pretty surprised by the identity of the father, given her looks.

Beau: Hell YEAH! Check out this hotness, bitches! Ka-CHING!

Frances: I feel a tad faintish. *swoons*

I did it! I wilted my plantsims, and here's the proof:

From my experience, they seem to need to have all of their motives below 25% for them to wilt (I had 0% water, and 25% for both light and love). They don't actually change clothing colours. That's cc, found here and here.

Oh, and I also might have built a mountain for them to live on. Yup, a whole mountain.
