I wrote these haiku
one for each of the Grunt boys
which one is for which?

needles, thread, fabric
he presses the pedal down
she'll wear it often

after work, he cleans
he studies, takes out the trash
he doesn't say much

he has two options
eat ketchup chips or jerk off
it's time for a bath

Oooo! Buck, Tank, Ripp. Hee. :D

Those are really good! I love haiku.

The "challenge" was sort of a joke, right? I didn't think you'd have any trouble figuring it out. ;)

Thanks. I've always liked them too. It's one of those deceptively simple things that can be infinitely challenging. I love to read them.

Thanks. XD It's a shame to think I gave up a promising career as a poet to have a real job, right?

(I'm actually a published poet. Isn't that wild?)

Not wild at all.
Those were hillarious, especially Ripp's. (:

I usually forget I even did it. I did readings in bars and things like that, and was part of a writing group, but only for a little while, and then I gave up poetry cold turkey and started something else (probably knitting). I prefer prose. It's more direct, and I like direct. I guess that's why haiku are more appealing than most other poetry to me.

Thanks. :) His was also the easiest, though that's not really a surprise.

Hah, I am too actually.

Nice haiku. I especially like Tank's one.

Nice. *high fives*

Thanks. In many ways, Tank's life is just a list of chores. It keeps him busy.

LOL! Short but sweet ;) Ripp's was funny :D

So you're actually published? I've written poetry in the past, no idea as of now what to do with them. I prefer prose too, although I need to stop myself rambling - I do that a lot with series :-\

Yeah, that's the beauty of haiku. You get right down to essentials. (Also, I'm proud of myself for using "jerk off" in a poem.)

Yeah, it's just a little thing, but it still counts, right? I probably could have kept going with it, but I grew weary of it in the same way I did with academic art. It was a fun experience, though.

You should send them in to some magazines or something. There are tonnes of them out there for that sort of thing. If you have some ready to go, then why not? ^_^

LOL at the last poem! What a contrast compared to his brothers' activities! :D

I like these small poems. I'm always in awe when people can tell a short story or an idea in just a few lines. I tend to go on and on and on when I write, so to keep things short is extremely difficult to me. I even cheat when I join drabble challenges!

A couple years ago, I had a calendar that had a quote from a famous writer for each day. My favorite was one from Antón Chéjov: "Brevity and talent go hand in hand" :D (and I had it posted on my cork board when I was working on my thesis as a reminder)

You're published? Neat! You should send these in, if only to get the reactions of the magazine people/whomever

I love these! It wasn't that hard to guess. ;)

Also, it's so cool that you're published! That's awesome.

""he doesn't say much""

that haunts me and yet as much as I am in love with Ripp, if the Grunt boys were real, I think I will liek Buck for who he is, always have a crush on Ripp but my heart would belong to Tank. Oh Tank. :D

Awww. Tank's sounds a lot like Francis to me, which makes me think they ARE perfect for each other (even though you've made me a diehard Beau/Francis shipper).

Heh. I just realised there's three so you can play the "boff, marry, kill" game :P
