The poll has been closed and Nyssa won by a landslide! Thank you to everyone who voted for her, because I couldn't be happier to have her for my stretch of The Round Robin Legacy. Now, for a little glimpse at her new look...

Just setting things up here.

Nyssa Lioncourt...
She appears mysteriously in Sim City one day, and claims to have come from another planet. Moving forward, and trying to forget her tragic past, she immerses herself in the nightlife scene, and will eventually become a proffessional party guest, but is that where her story will end, or is it just the beginning?
(Yeah, I checked to see what her LTW might be in my game, but I thought that "become a proffessional party guest" was more interesting than "woohoo with 20 sims." I'm sure she'll have her share of lovers, but the career plays into a better story for me, so I went with that.

She's very pretty for someone without a nose.
And my fears about the cc skin clashing with my overall Maxis-match style seem to have been exaggerated. With the right cc, she blends in pretty well, aside from the slightly more defined nose and upper lip. (Though my SO was like, "What the hell is on her face? What's up with the maple leaf?" *snicker* What is this? Canadian propaganda? We can't have that...) My main concern was the lips, which were easily converted to my own style with lipstick, so all is well.
I've also decided that her story will take place about a generation into the same world as Strangetown, Here We Come, so it will provide a number of little hints about that too. ;)

Date: 2008-10-30 12:59 am (UTC)I think she fits well enough. It's not seamless, but it's not jarring either, so I'm happy.
I'm just hoping that three weeks is enough. I'm such a slowly moving creature...

Date: 2008-10-30 12:27 am (UTC)I totally didn't yell at my friends and make them vote for her.I get way too competitive with polls sometimes. It reminds me of the Mag and Luz days of the Valenzuela Legacy. xDno subject
Date: 2008-10-30 01:03 am (UTC)So, you were actually campaigning on my behalf too? That's too funny. I was wondering why it was such a landslide, but yet I didn't recognize half of the voters. :P
I'm surprised, really, because the simming community seems to be a huge sausage-fest as a whole (I'm thinking of reactions to Cosmo Broke vs. Helena Broke, for example, when I think Helena was way cooler). It's nice to see people rooting for a gal for a change.

Date: 2008-10-30 12:31 am (UTC)Ahahaha!!!! Too funny!
I'm curious though, she has a cut on her face. Is that from fleeing the attacking race before she went through the portal?

Date: 2008-10-30 01:09 am (UTC)Oh, so you noticed that scar, did you? It does relate to her trip through the portal, but that's all I'll say for now.

Date: 2008-10-30 01:21 am (UTC)O reely???
I LOLed. It's funny that you mention this, because many Americans who travel abroad stick Canadian flag patches on their backpacks and suitcases. I *ahem* considered doing so myself, at various points, but I decided not to display any flags in the end. It proved to be a very entertaining decision, actually.
The scar was the FIRST thing I noticed about her face, actually. I just couldn't help but notice it. I forgot to add though, that the blending looks great, and I love that ponytail on her. I need an excuse to use it, but I doubt it would work in my present story.
Still, I'm super excited to see what happens next with Nyssa.

Date: 2008-10-30 05:32 am (UTC)Well, that's good. It's meant to stick out enough to give a hint about her past, anyway.
I really like that hairstyle, and it does seem to suit Nyssa well.

Date: 2008-10-30 12:42 am (UTC)Haha, Canadian propaganda. I knew the marking on her face looked familiar to me; I just couldn't figure out why.
(And in case you're wondering who I am, I'm just a reader of your Strangetown series who decided to add you and leap into casual commenting without introducing myself. How awkward of me.)

Date: 2008-10-30 01:17 am (UTC)Yeah, her face looks like some sort of goverment brochure to me. Well, it's not red, so that's a little better.
Well, it's very nice to meet you. :D No need for introductions. I hope you've been enjoying it.

Date: 2008-10-30 12:44 am (UTC)Awww, she's cute!
I need to catch up with that legacy, although I've voted on the heirs everytime I've seen the polls up :D.
At first I thought Nissa was a Plantsim with that skin, though!
Have fun with the legacy! (Are you going to follow the rules?)

Date: 2008-10-30 01:21 am (UTC)I'm terrible for skimming things like that too. I do recommend this legacy, though. It's been a combo of story and commentary so far (50/50, to be exact), but it's fun to see the same line carried through different players/creaters with different styles.
Oooh, really? Well, that might be a good thing. ;)
Thanks. I don't know if I have a choice, since

Date: 2008-10-30 05:16 am (UTC)I'm definitely going with the "ask forgiveness, not permission" angle here. But, at the same time, I think it would be fun to technically follow the rules too, and just see how far I can go within them.

Date: 2008-10-30 05:12 am (UTC)But Madame did the same, and Laridian even started the thing with 2 CAS sims, which is also the same thing, so it seems like I could probably get away with at least batch creating some townies.
I don't see anything wrong with a little rule breaking. :) It's not like we're playing for points here.

Date: 2008-10-30 08:13 am (UTC)I don't see anything wrong with using created townies, unless the rules state that townies have to be Eaxis generated (like in the GUCCI challenge).

Date: 2008-10-30 05:05 am (UTC)I'm glad she seems to have made the trip over to your game, hopefully without too much culture shock. :) She does look like she fits in well.
Git bizy! Ha ha! :D

Date: 2008-10-30 05:26 am (UTC)I've been wanting to use that hair since I downloaded it a couple of days ago (it's one of Phobia's Maxis-match retextures), and I think it looks really nice on Nyssa. It really suits her face, and you're right... she does seem older.
I think I just have a thing for scars and other markings, but it does relate to a rough trip through the portal too. I won't say too much more about it, though... I'll save it for my chapter.
Awww... Ripp icon. ^_^ (Mine is Ripp too, but a drawing of him.)

Date: 2008-10-30 09:39 am (UTC)Yes I don't think her skin is jarring at all. Those Enalya skins (that one and the other ones in that series) I have had in my own game as well and I find they can blend pretty well for a special sim.
Can't wait!

Date: 2008-10-30 04:25 pm (UTC)Looks like she got a little banged up in the leap to safety, too, huh?
I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with her (and really hope it involves cowplants in some way--ooh, she could be a black widow!).

Date: 2008-10-30 07:32 pm (UTC)I also noticed the scar, but she looks great. I LOVER that hair recolor as well, I downloaded it as soon as I saw it. ^_^
