Strangetown: Nice to Meet You

With my chapter of The Round Robin Legacy looming, I thought it would be best to jump ahead slightly and reveal a story detail before that legacy entry gives it away in a less ceremonious way. I wouldn't want to completely blow my wink and nudge moment. So, without saying anything more...

"That's really sad, Ripp."

"Well... I'm learning to deal with it."

"Next time, though, give me a warning before you turn into a big sad sack. You're more fun with less existential angst."




"What?! Fuck you! That's a little harsh, don't you think?"

"It was a JOKE! I'm just trying to fucking lighten the mood here."

"Oh... well, it was a piss-poor joke."

"Well, sorry! Daddy didn't pay for comedy school, okay?"

"So...," he changed the subject back to the reason they were there. "What's the big surprise?"

"Zoe found us a new drummer."




"What? For real?"

"Yes, really real. She's fucking GREAT too. Really something. You're going to love her."

"Her?" he gulped.




"Yeah, and she's super fucking hot too. She hits on like ten different weaknesses of yours."

"Oh."

"Well, fuck - don't get shy on me now, Ripp."






She turned and headed for the door to the restaurant, where Zoe was waiting for them with their new bandmate, and threw it open.






With a flourish, she said, "Ripp Grunt... meet Helena Summerdream."




"...hi..." He felt the blood rush out of his head and into something with a more pressing need for it.




"Oh, he's CUTE!" she said, "Hi, Ripp! It's nice to meet you."




"Yeah... umm... you too."




"This is going to sound really weird... but, I feel like I've met you somewhere before. It's really... yeah, it's so weird."

"Yeah... I think I know what you're talking about."

They moved to find a seat, and Jaxy pulled him aside.

"Smooth, Ripp. Real smooth," she said, with a laugh. "I guess I should have warned you that she was green? I know how you are about the greenies."

"Heh."

"Yeah, she's alien, and she's a faery too! How's that for fucking diversity?"




"Oh, good. So she likes girls?"

"Not that kind of faery, you tit-munch! The magic kind. I'm pretty sure she likes boys, actually. It's a shame, really..."

"I... I can't be in a band with her."

"Sure you can!"








"She's a fucking wicked drummer. She has so much energy it's sick. She's funny too. You'll love her!"

Ripp just stared straight ahead. "Yeah, I know. That's the problem."

"Look, I understand that this is like letting a kid loose in a candy store... except this candy will probably chase after you and try to get you to eat it..."




She used her best Veronaville accent and bedroom voice. "Eat me, Ripp... eat me long and hard."

"I hate you so much right now."

Her face twisted into a devilish grin. "But you have more self control than that, don't you, honey?"

Did he?

He really hoped so.

"I can't believe you're doing this to me," he said.

"What are friends for?" She gave him a pat on the bum, and directed him to the table. "And, really... she's not Gunnar. You should be down on your fucking hands and knees, polishing my shoes with your tongue, and thanking me for the vast improvement I've made on your life."

"You want me to lick you? Because I can lick you..."

"You can lick my ass, Ripp."

"Finally."






They walked over to join the rest of The Shifting Paradymes.

Note: I mentioned it before, but in case you missed it... Helena is one of simgaroop 's sims, from The Broke Legacy. In her story, a different version of Ripp is involved in a committed relationship with her, and they have four children together. I thought it would be fun to play on the parallel universes of different people's game and stories, and I really like Helena as a character. Her maxed out playful and active points make her a born drummer too.

I wasn't going to reveal this quite yet, but it's more fun this way. Having Helena's future child mention offhand that his Mom is in a famous rock band is a lot less dramatic.

I know. I thought, for a second, that it was just too silly (more like outtakes material), but I went with the goofy and slapstick. I've been feeling the cartoon thing a lot lately.

Jaxy's gesture was autonomous too. Literally everyone in that restaurant was either gushing hearts over Helena or Ripp. It was really funny. All three bandmates think Helena is a fine piece of sim meat, and I had to nip a couple of ACR actions in the bud, since there's a photo booth on the lot. That's how Simgaroop's Helena and Ripp got together too, and they do have that sort of "sex on first date - 5 minutes after meeting the person" chemistry.

Tit-munch is pure gold. I love it. I hadn't even thought of that word in ages, and then it just came forth from Jaxy's mouth. I was pleased.

I love how Ripp is feeling so confused. Whereas before admitting to himself he's in love with Phi, he'd have been all over Helena like flies on poo. Now he's not wanting that temptation! Aw, poor Ripp, lol!

Awesome! I'd remembered that you were putting Helena in this, but somehow I never made the connection that you were going to play with her relationship with Ripp, and I'd never guessed she'd be the new drummer. I love it, though! Now I'm even more excited to see this story get updated.

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on it. I think it might have become a little more obvious if I had let it play out normally, because I had maybe a couple of little hints about it to reveal before this happens, but oh well.

I do like the idea of playing off her other story in The Broke Legacy. I think my Helena is a little wilder, though, what with all the random and constant cheering she does. I think that's actually caused by the lot she's on, somehow, but it's such a funny little detail to have presented to me. How can I not use it?

An update you say? Well, it just might be your lucky day (or night). ;)

I've actually been waiting for something like this to crop up. I mean, he was bound to run into an attractive female/bed buddy eventually. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does fighting against his own nature. *crosses fingers for him*

Haha, I've always wondered what brought on his obsession with alien features. Is it because of Johnny or just something inside of him that finds them attractive? Because he's brought it up during that whole kiss with Jill and even Jaxy has picked up on the fact that he's got it bad for aliens.

I put up a couple new icons. I get bored of seeing the same ones over and over again. Jill's now my default. And I got a few other fun ones up. :D

Well, you know how he feels about Phi. He isn't going to want to hurt her, and there are also other complexities in their situation at this point. That doesn't mean he won't sometimes want to stray and do what he does best. If he keeps his wits about him, he'll probably be fine, but he's also known for letting those go at times, so it will be a challenge.

Ripp has always been fascinated by Johnny's green skin (and intrigued by just HOW green he was, whether everything was green, etc.), and that comes through in his dialogue and thought processes all the time. I think it's partly the strangeness of it, and maybe he latched on to that attraction because of his father too... because it was so forbidden. Jaxy has her own theories about it, but I'll wait so you can hear them firsthand. ;)

I'll go take a look. I should make some more icons one of these days too. I have more spaces that I'm not using.

Jill is a good choice for a default icon. :D

I believe in Ripp and his ability not to fuck up. I think his love of Phi will keep him grounded.

He did latch onto the whole green thing right away, from the first moment he met Johnny it seems. I can't help but think at least a little bit of it might just have to do with a comfort mechanism - it reminds him of Johnny who is his best friend, but I see all of those other factors too. The strangeness and how it was a taboo for the General. I am super excited to hear Jaxy's theories!

Haha, you should make more icons! They're fun to have. I always think about buying a paid subscription to LJ, but I really can't justify buying it just for the icons. I'm stingy as hell.

Isn't it? It would be so boring (and unrealistic) if a switch was flipped and he suddenly wasn't attracted to other sims. For someone who's generally interested in anything he can get (and lots of it), monogamy is perhaps the ultimate challenge.

Ripp and Jaxy are fun to write together, because she usually has the upper hand on Ripp, while he does a little better against Johnny.

He only works in the flower shop on Saturdays, and Phi is there too. This is also just after college ends, and I'm not sure if they're still working at the flower shop. Maybe a little. It was never meant to be a full time job. Phi is actually going to open her own shop eventually.

That's not to say the band won't be trouble anyway. If they get popular, they'll probably even have groupies... GROUPIES! Ripp will be tempted from all sides.

Uh oh! Ripp will have to cover his back if he's gonna spend so much time with Helena, because if she's as uh... "special" as the original one (combined with ACR), things could get ugly for him. Heh, he might be a superb romance sim, but she's almost as "experienced" as him :D.

(Not to mention she's extremely fertile. So he must be careful or he'll end up with more children than he can imagine before he realizes it!)

This is so amusing! Though I know she's gonna end up with Nathan, I can't wait to see the insanity she might bring to the band. And I love the banter between Ripp and Jaxy. That's always fun to read!

I also wonder why is Ripp feeling so sad. This takes place after college, right? (I get that idea from their different clothes) I hope nothing bad happened to Johnny.

I thought it would be fun to post this after you filled my Helena drabble request. I've had Helena for ages, and I've been dying to reveal my plans for her. :)

This Helena is also very "special" and her chemistry with Ripp is pretty through the roof, once those FT bonuses are factored in (and even without). I had to cancel a couple of photo booth interactions while trying to shoot this scene, thanks to ACR (though one was for Ripp and FLORENCE! That cougar! :P They have two bolts, and in-game Florence means serious business).

Helena's fertility revealed itself in my game too, when I jumped into the future a little with her childen from Nathan. Yes, she had three, in a single birth, just like in your game. Isn't that wild? I was so amused by the parallel. (You'll see those kids in my round tobin thing.)

Yeah, it's funny... even though you know she'll be involved with Nathan, you never can tell what these romance sims will get up to, so anything could happen. :) She does have even better chemistry with Nathan, though. That was a pairing of odd destiny. They were woohooing within minutes.

Ahh, you're the only one who noticed that, or mentioned it, anyway. This does take place after college, and after a number of things have happened. I won't say to much about it yet, though.
