Johnny and Ripp artwork

I made a drawing of Johnny and Ripp. It's probably been a whole year since I've really drawn anything at all, so I'm pretty proud of myself. And I've never attempted to colour a drawing in Photoshop before, so that's also a bit of an achievement (even if it's mediocre at best). I usually draw flat, black and white line drawings, but I thought I'd try some colour. So, yeah... here's another cartoon take on these guys, with a little conversation to go along with it.

Johnny: Is it really necessary to take up SO MUCH SPACE?
Ripp: MmmmmHmmmmm... sure is.
Johnny: You need new socks.
Ripp: But the air vents reduce foot odour...
Johnny: You still have foot odour.
Ripp: I said reduce, not prevent.
Johnny: It's GROSS.
Ripp: Ah, you love it.

Nice artwork, too. The next thing you know, you'll forget the game and it's limitations and just draw it out.

Date: 2008-09-26 01:13 pm (UTC)I don't know... fighting the game limitations still takes less time than drawing things out. It will be fun to draw some things, though. I'll probably do some more of these.

What does Ophelia think of this?! :P

Date: 2008-09-26 02:09 am (UTC)Oooo I know you were talking about it, but I didn't expect it up so soon! And it's so awesome!
I love Johnny's gangly legs and spindly finger and his HAIR!!! And the eyebrows are awesome and his expression is awesome, because it's Johnny and that is his favorite face. Oh and he's all hunched over and annoyed, but only sort of and !!!!!!
And I adore Ripp's holey socks and his big ol' toe poking out and stinking up the joint. There's also his hand on Johnny's shoulder with his totally relaxed and peaceful expression and you did an awesome job with his hair.
Also, I love the coloring you did! Not sure what brush you used, but it gave it this skritchy look to it. Very textured. You can see it best in the couch and in Ripp's shirt.
But my most favorite part of all is how Ripp's got his other foot all tucked up under Johnny and probably snuggled there to keep it warm and I LOVE THIS!!!
So yeah, great job! I hope you do more and more and more and keep making the story of course, because I love the world you've created here.
<3333!

Date: 2008-09-26 02:15 am (UTC)I absolutely love this interpretation of them. It represents their personalities so well, and while I know that you have their personalities 100% figured out, it can be hard to translate that into a drawing. You did an amazing job!

Date: 2008-09-26 09:47 am (UTC)That's really cool you can draw something like this freehand! What's the medium? It's hard for me to tell but I'm guessing markers? Maybe?
Duh... just noticed you had said Photoshop, lol. I guess I didn't put two and two together on that. :D
Anyway great work!

Date: 2008-09-26 11:51 am (UTC)I did draw it with a marker, actually. A pigment liner. I drew it in pencil, scanned it, printed it in a light colour, inked it, then scanned it again, and coloured it in Photoshop. I'd never be able to draw something in Photoshop... or not very easily, anyway. I'm not very used to using a stylus and I've been drawing by hand all my life.
There was a lot of hand-holding from my SO along the way, and not the romantic kind. :P He set me straight about shading and highlighting layers in Photoshop. It makes the colouring a lot more possible.
And thank you... It's cool to be able to do things that aren't in the game, like the socks. Where I come from, people don't wear shoes inside the house, so that detail has always bothered me. Sims even make out on their bed with their shoes on. *tsk, tsk*
