Strangetown: Close To You

"What are you doing out here, Phi?"
"Just watching the sun set." She gestured at the colourful sky off in the distance, where the sun was passing below the horizon. "Have a seat, if you like." He did like, so he lowered himself down to sit on the step and edged his way over to her. He leaned into her back, and she turned around to look at him. "Well, hello there. Getting closer, are we?"
"MmmHmmm... That's the plan." He slid one leg past her and then the other. "If that's okay..."
She smiled. "Did you expect me to say no?" He completed the move by slipping his arms around her.
"Perfect."
"When's Johnny getting home?" he asked.
"I'm not sure. Pretty soon, I think."
"He works too much."
"He's Johnny."
"True... I'd expect no less." Ripp rested his head on her shoulder. "But he misses out. The best things are like this... just doing nothing."
"Yeah..." She stared off into the reddening sky. "Just look at that... Isn't it beautiful?"
"Yeah... so beautiful." He nuzzled into her neck.
"You're not even looking."
"I can't help it. You're too distracting." He took a deep breath. "Mmmm... are you wearing perfume?"
"A little."
"Smells like candy..." He kept sniffing. "Or chocolate... something tasty."
"It's just my lotion. There's cocoa butter in it."
"Does it taste as good as it smells?"
"I've never-" She squealed as his tongue moved across her neck. "Ripp, no! It tickles!"
"Sorry, I couldn't resist..." He grinned, thinking about how great it would be to move his tongue over her entire body... and his lips... and his hands. "It does have a bit of a taste, you know. Or maybe that's just you." He wanted to taste it all. Ophelia knew this too; it was hard not to notice.
"You're too silly," she said. They continued to sit there, in silence, for a couple of minutes.
"Phi?"
"Yeah?"
"I..." He searched for the words. Just three little words. It wouldn't be so hard. "I like this."
"Yeah." She had expected something else, just for a second. "I like it too."
"Sitting here... being close to you... what more could I want?"
Note: I'm fighting a chest cold (and losing), so you get this romantic fluff. It helps the pain. I was thinking about the new romantic interactions I'm looking forward to in AL last night, and decided to create some new "interactions" of my own. This was the most successful one so far.
You can think of this like the drabbles, as something that happens "off camera" from the regular chapters, but does actually happen (and it might actually end up in a chapter, but I doubt it). This take place at about this point in the story, maybe a little later.

Date: 2008-08-28 02:35 pm (UTC)I was pretty happy with the way these pictures turned out. Those poses fit together so well. :) I like doing the screencap thing, because I can use different formats (I like squares - can you tell?).
Always happy to provide inspiration! (Isn't it great to feed off other people like that? I do it all the time.) I'm glad it got your wheels turning.

Date: 2008-08-28 02:37 pm (UTC)Isn't it sweet, though? Those modeling poses are so useful for casual scenes like that.

Date: 2008-08-28 04:10 pm (UTC)Haha, that's definitely something I'd Ripp do, just taste something because it smells good. Jessica Simpson has this line of lotions that you can actually eat or something. I'm not sure if it REALLY does that, but that's what I thought of. XD
I hope you feel better! Chest colds are pretty bad, especially when you breath and you FEEL all that phlegm inside there. D:

I love this. It's actually a very subtle thing for Ripp to say, but Ophelia catches on right away. How very Ophelia of her. ;)
Maybe it's because Johnny wasn't present here to remind me that I'm supposed to be feeling bad for him, but at the moment, I'm saying screw Johnny! I want Ripp/Ophelia! I'm sure that'll change the moment Johnny's back in the picture, though.

Date: 2008-08-28 07:10 pm (UTC)What I don't think he's necessarily counting on is how multidimensional the trio's relationship is. It's adapting and if Johnny's not careful, it might adapt without him.
I swear, the three of them are a freakin' trainwreck in so many ways, but the relationship still maintains this feeling of beautiful unrequited passion. You can't hate any of them for what's happening even though you know that it's the calm before the storm.

Date: 2008-08-28 07:54 pm (UTC)Being a huge romantic sap, I really want things to work out happily. It is possible to have a three-way love, but given society and these characters' families I'm all sad and worried that it probably won't turn out well...still, I love me some Ripp/Ophelia/Johnny!

Date: 2008-08-28 08:37 pm (UTC)Sorry to hear you're sick. I hope you feel better soon. Bad time of year to get a chest cold. (Oh, who am I kidding? There's never a good time to get a bad chest cold.)
Coco butter does have a sweet smell, doesn't it? It reminds me of cotton candy.
