Adventures in OFB

Thank you to everyone who has offered their simself for use in this little project. I was pleasantly surprised by how many of you volunteered. It's great. I love being able to get an idea of what you all look like.

This is just a little introduction. I haven't even added everyone to the game yet, but I'm working on it. So, if you don't see yourself anywhere, don't worry... I will show everyone eventually.




Strange: Hey! Glad you could make it. *waves like a crazy person*

Here's Strange, shortly after moving to Veronaville. She's now lived in all three of the original Maxis hoods. As you can see, she's pretty excited to be here, and she's eagerly awaiting her potential employees.

This is who I've added so far:

The first wave (from left to right, back row): xel_squirgle_ox, pixel_and_bean, mjo5oh, simgaroop, simpathology, (front row) hidden_kitten, and waywardgaze.

The second wave (back row, left to right): silentsteel, ikichi, madame_ugly, music_simbol, saunasims, (front row) and franwi.




Some stragglers (left to right): umm, ignore that guy (it's my SO - I'm adding him as a customer), cindyanne1, and swhedonberry.

If I have anything wrong, please let me know. I'm still missing some of you, but don't worry... I was just waiting for more details (or the file). You'll be added.


Now, for a couple of little glimpses...




Mr. Humble: I don't know what the hell is going on here, but I DON'T LIKE IT. *fills with hate*

Everyone seems to be getting along just fine.




Pixel thinks it's a little early for a hug though, MJ. You might want to slow down the friendship train, there.




Franwi: Don't tell anyone, but JL is totally ripping off my hairdo.

Time to rouse the troops with an uplifting folk song...






As a Newfoundlander, Strange is no stranger to a rowdy pub song. It works like a charm.




So, the work begins. The garden is actually a LOT bigger than this now. It's a full time job for 8 people (and a gardener).




Here's the dining room, where Strange has used one of her most prized possessions to decorate.

Oh, and I'm so excited... my SO has offered (yes, without me asking) to make me another drawing. He wants to do a "much better one," in his own words. Hooray! :D I get to benefit from his obsessive perfectionism.




Oh, look! The matchmaker is a zombie Meadow Thayler. That's nice.




All the gardening leads to a transformation for Xel_squirgle.

The makeup doesn't really work with the plantsim skin, huh? :P I'll eventually change them back, but I'm liking how they can garden all night long for now.

*sings* Gardening at night...




Looks like JL won't be transforming into a plantsim anytime soon. Get back to work! Don't make me come over there...




She doesn't seem to be listening to me.

Oh well, at least she'll make an excellent cashier, with all those logic points.

I couldn't see a very good face-on shot, but are they the round ones or the oval ones? My galsses are oval ;) (I don't know if you knew I had glasses :S)

I went by the description that posted with your simself. I added your lip stud and silver hoop earrings, but I couldn't find a spider necklace. Do you use one in your own game? I'd prefer it to be a BV compatible jewelry item, if I were to download one.

lol, I appreciate your research. No, I don't have a spider necklace for my own game, it was more of a 'ohjust in case'. I make her wear a silver chain instead.
The secind link is much better. I prefer my glasses to blend in, not stand out. ...even if they are metallic pruple :D

awwww! :D they are all so cute!!! Sismselves are always so cool!! Love them! :D
I have had such a great time playing with simselves too. :) You know they are not just 'any' cas sim (which i'm not particular fan of. :P ) and that makes them so special :)
Included or not, i know i'll enjoy your OFB adventure. Juts watching at everyone else's sims makes it awesome already! :)

I like that they have such specific looks too. Everyone is so unique (and I would say beautiful too, but that makes me feel like a bit of a sap). It's great to get a glimpse at how everyone looks.

Woo! AHahaha. I do have a soft spot for some good gossip. :P My only problem with this is that my Simself looks awfully comfy in her outfit! I miss my RL coveralls. :(

I love those overalls too. I really appreciate that they're covered in paint. There are a lot of nice normal things included in FT like that.

I really need to play Veronaville at some point. That street shot with Mr. Humble is just adorable. I do love those houses. Actually my real apartment building looks like those houses. And I ALMOST sent along a different hairstyle. Guess I should have. Twinsies! LOL. Mme's got Ikichi's outfit, too! Well, maybe she's a trend setter and we're just fashionably impressionable. I can't believe you have plantsims already! I love how you're using them to slave through the night, lol.

It definitely looks like a lot of fun so far. I'm somehow unsurprised that there were two plantsims so early on, especially if they were gardening fiends. I might be surprised if my simself actually did much work without throwing a major bitchfit; I can barely make her do anything in my game without getting either a "You've gotta be kidding" or "Grah! I don't wanna!" look unless it's something to do with studying. Or macking on Lazlo. She does love that....

SO = significant other

Maybe I should have explained it on the first mention, but part of the reason I use an acronym at all is because it's so long and pretentious to write out. I don't like using boyfriend, and fiance is even worse (I can't bring myself to say that out loud - I'm weird like that). I suppose I could say partner. It's probably easier to understand, and has the bonus feature of being equally gender neutral. Not that I'm trying to hide the fact that he's a boy, but do the words themselves have to be so gender-specific?

Sorry, I can get caught up talking about stuff like that... :P

And yeah, he can't even look at that drawing anymore, because all he can see are flaws, and his drawing skills have improved so much since then (he's switched his technique, so he'll use brushes to ink it, for example). He actually asked me if he could redraw them, and how could I refuse that? :D He figures it would be good for practice, and I might send a couple of people to his blog in the process, so everyone wins.

I'll definitely put it up for download, as a couple of different painting recolours. I plan to make some other versions of the first one too, that can be used in everyone's game, since the current one can only be used if you have the Glamour Life SP.

I've seen a sketch for the composition already (one of dozens he's done, and surely not the last - I'm not kidding when I call him a perfectionist). It looks great. He's showing the three of them in an action shot, with Ripp making fun of Johnny, who's just shrugging, and Ophelia is in the middle, just giggling at it all. It's very cute.

Oh how I relate to the perfectionism thing. My problem is I will never improve my drawing skills, because I get frustrated and quit. :p

Yeah, it's a really big garden. Since everyone is reaching their gold talent badge already, I added some ladybugs to prevent more plantsims. They can be useful, but it bothers me when they don't "charge up" enough and pass out from lack of sun overnight. I find it disturbing, because I have to watch them suffer, and can't do anything about it.

I TOLD you JL was lazy. And, quite frankly, I've never been a fan of gardening. At least not since being enslaved as a wee child to tend my grandparents lot (and being menaced by tomato worms--aaaahhh, I hate tomato worms).

And if the other ladies don't want to share a hair do, JL's willing to get a buzzed head (I'm tempted to strip off my real life hair again, too, it's damn HOT out)

Hehe, my family had a farm when I was little, and I'd always get sent into the patches to pull veggies because it was always swarming with garter snakes, and my dad was afraid of snakes, lol. Nice parenting and cheap child labor.

I don't mind sharing, but it looks like it could get confusing, doesn't it? My hair doesn't really look like that either, but it was the closest I could find in that color. Maybe there's something more fitting from an EP or SP I don't have.

Hmm, there's a really cute cc hair. . .I'm not sure where it's from but it's long hair pulled up into two little folded over pigtails (they make little loose hairballs right at the base of the skull).

I'm using it in my asylum (and I'd put it on JL, too, it's that nice). There's also a really cute hair that has a barette (longish bangs pulled to the side in a clip, little piece falling over the face).

I think I know the hair you're describing. It has really long bangs. Looks a bit more realistic than the Maxis stuff. I didn't want to include anything that didn't look more game-like, though. Question, in that pic of your selfsim on the hammock, are those eyebrows blonde? Just curious, I can never seem to switch hair/brows to different colors unless it's custom stuff.

Hmm, now I have to look. JL's brows should be red. . .but I've noticed with some custom stuff, the eyebrows go wacky (Tabby Ish in my pixel_trade asylum has mismatched hair/brows--she has a funky custom hair--binned custom, too).

Actually, my SO made his own simself. :P It really does resemble him pretty well too. He approved of the trendy cardigan I put on him there (though I need skinnier jeans, really - he's a stick figure and he's just hip like that).

Yeah, the drawing is going to be of the trio again. He wants to take another stab at the same characters, and I'd rather have another drawing of them than anyone else anyway. If he stays in this generous mood, I might be able to get some others out of him eventually. I think he'd do an awesome Frances Worthington.

My next business venture, after the produce stand, will probably be a massage parlour. I'm really curious to see how that would work. I know you gave me maxed cooking skills, so I'll probably save you for the restaurant I'm planning. I've never attempted to run one of those in the game.

Bwahahaha! Already a PlantSim?! That's some kind of record! (especially because I've never had a PlanSim in my game, and I've trying to get one on purpose.

Well, at least that means I'm now a Gardening Master :P, and therefore would keep a bonsai alive for one year (that was a project in HighSchool, and mine was the last in my class to die, two weeks before the school year ended, so I lost the extra credits I'd get from that task :P).

Oh, and Theo has a new version of the skin unlock that just unlocks the alien skin, so you won't get any unbreedable zombie townies. It's at the site Pixel pimped out last week. (Did the bluefro file come through?)

edit: AND I'm the first one to clean her plate! hahaha! She tried to get seconds, didn't she? I wonder how long it'll take me to hit fat (and then cry, because I will NEVER look as hot as the fat sim girls do).
