The Sims 3 has been delayed until August because I am not even close to being mentally ready for it yet. I'm just that important. *snicker* The ego has landed.
Seriously, though, this wouldn't bother me in the least, and I think they should delay it to fix their countless, countless bugs, if they do exist (and, let's face it, they most likely do). However, I do feel bad for people who were getting really excited about it, and even pre-ordered it. *consoles
cindyanne1* There, there. It will be okay.
I wonder if it's true? Seems likely to me. They delayed Spore for ages, didn't they?

Date: 2009-01-29 06:12 pm (UTC)Spore was delayed for aaaages, and Sims 2 was delayed by six months. I'm thinking it will be at LEAST several months, if not next year.

Date: 2009-01-29 06:20 pm (UTC)I'm not surprised, and I agree. It may end up getting delayed even more. Do you think they'll try to sell us another SP while we're waiting? That might be a nice consolation prize.

Date: 2009-01-29 06:39 pm (UTC)Delays don't surprise me one little bit. It's seemed like it was being released really soon to me anyway. It's not like we "finish" the game, and are ready for a new one. It's non-linear.

Date: 2009-01-29 06:53 pm (UTC)I know many people who weren't ready for Sims 3. This will be a welcome delay for many people, I think.

Date: 2009-01-29 06:48 pm (UTC)I doubt I'll be ready to make a switch for my stories any time in the next year, but it being delayed would make my day. It seems quite late for them to make this type of delay. I thought they announced the delays for Spore and other games much further from the first announced release date.

Date: 2009-01-29 06:58 pm (UTC)It does seem late to make such an announcement, so I think there will be a lot of disappointment there for some people.
I'm also not ready to leave Sims 2 behind, especially where my story is concerned. It would be so tedious to set up a whole neighbourhood to the level my Greater Strangetown Area (S'town, Sim City, BV, LFT, and all thevacation spots) is right now.
I do think I will be happy about the lack of loading screens in The Sims 3, though. I was thinking about that just last night. I'm ready to lose the transitions between home and community lots.

Date: 2009-01-29 06:54 pm (UTC)You really think they're fixing bugs?
*chokes from laughter*
Unless by "bugs" you mean "finding an even nastier version of suckRom".
no subject
Date: 2009-01-29 07:08 pm (UTC)You're probably right, though, and it's unlikely that they'll catch all the bugs, unless they've decided to officially hire the folks at MATY (and, really, they SHOULD be paying them, given how unplayable the game can be without their fixes).
I will be optimistic, though, and hope they do manage to fix some bugs, and maybe improve the game in some way with their extra time.

Date: 2009-01-29 07:04 pm (UTC)Hee hee... my husband would be happier if it was delayed. *snort* And maybe I'd actually get the taxes done on time too!
But I dunno... Amazon.com still has a release date of Feb 16. When I get an email from them telling me my shipment will be delayed I'll be more likely to believe it. :P

Date: 2009-01-29 09:08 pm (UTC)I feel bad for you. :( If I was excited and waiting for it, I would be pissed. But, yeah, it's not actually offical yet, so who knows...
(Argh! Sorry for the spelling fail.)

Date: 2009-01-29 07:04 pm (UTC)I have Spore at the moment and I have SHARP EDGES. I hear the minimum system requirements are the same. :\ I'd rather play sims 2 with pretty graphics than sims 3 with shitty graphics.
HI I AM SHALLOW.

Date: 2009-01-29 07:17 pm (UTC)I agree with this 100%. I love my pretty Sims 2, and I doubt I'll even be able to try playing Sims 3. (Spore works, but it doesn't look ~nice~.)

Date: 2009-01-29 07:16 pm (UTC)Like yourselves, I've only just started getting around Bon Voyage of all things (even though I have every SP & EP to date)
Plus.... I've built up such a lot of progress in my hoods too. What with a nicely fatted folder full of CC and many families I've lovingly created and wish to 'preserve' a little longer.
I really don't want to let go of my 'comfort blankie' just yet....

Date: 2009-01-29 11:12 pm (UTC)Also, I'm just not ready.
Like you, I'm still exploring Sims 2 and having fun. Where storytelling is concerned, there's plenty left to do.

Date: 2009-01-29 08:28 pm (UTC)Wouldn't surprise me that they pushed the release a few more months. After the creator camp's, a lot of people became disappointed by the reports from sites like Parsimonious. Sure, everyone expects the base game to be a bit limited, but they weren't even going to allow importing of new textures, let alone meshes. A lot of people get the game to create stuff, so that was huge problem for them.
That was a very stupid move. Did EA seriously expect that people would be satisfied just with the hue levels on their new CAS. They really forgot how one of the big features of the Sims 2 was the early release of Bodyshop. People were doing clothes recolors and alpha edits before the game came out!
As for me, I'm not moving to Sims 3, at least not in a long, long time. I confess I considered moving my Brokes to the Sims 3 (in case there was a miracle and the specs suited my laptop), but the base game lacks: A. Aliens and B. Pointy ears. It's impossible to recreate my sims in there! :(
This reminds of Twilight Princess (from the Zelda games). That game was delayed over and over again. I remember I almost preordered it, only to find out it was delayed almost a ANOTHER year! :P

Date: 2009-01-29 08:54 pm (UTC)OMFG!!! :o Are they joking!!???
I haven't read much blogs about the game or the camp itself(yeah, that much I'm in denial rofl), but one of the main things i thought to be interesting was that it looked like you could import/use your own textures with their supposedly new-ultra-customizable features for recoloring
and no new meshes either?? C'mon!!! They would totally kill the game if new meshes aren't allowed. why they did the famous 'creators' camp then?? to show players how to change the hue in cas?? (or however the thing works)
once again, the more I know about this game, the less i like it!! O_O

Date: 2009-01-29 08:54 pm (UTC)WHOA. I apparently thought it was June, because I read that and was like, "Why postpone it for just 2 more months? What is the point in that?" ... ANYWAY. So I'm glad they're postponing it, and for more than two months >_> I don't want the Sims 2 community to dwindle yet. I WANT EVERYONE TO STAY AND NEVER LEAVE. Even the drama whores. XD

Date: 2009-01-29 09:38 pm (UTC)Still... considering that EA laid off a ton of people recently, it wouldn't surprise me if TS3 isn't ready yet. Not to mention, I'd rather they release a game sans bugs for once. Just ONCE! Not that I'm buying TS3, I like TS2, tyvm.
Sim Animals looks super interesting though, and it just came out for the Wii this week.

Date: 2009-01-29 11:22 pm (UTC)I definitely think it will be delayed though. At Parsimonious, their review was saying they hadn't decided on things like install limits and whether there'd be Securom. And it hasn't gone gold yet, and I believe it should have gone gold already, for a February 20 release.
Personally, I'm having more fun with my game than ever now and I'm fully confident I'll be able to occupy myself with it happily until whenever TS3 comes out. So whenever they want to release it is fine with me.
no subject
Date: 2009-01-30 12:59 am (UTC)They're not sure they'll include Securom? Oh, I really hope they decide to use something less invasive, but that seems like too much to wish for. *crosses fingers*
I feel exactly the same way. I usually stick with things I like for a long time, so I'll be content for quite a while longer.

Date: 2009-01-30 06:19 am (UTC)And I don't really have the time to get into a new computer game. I got Spore for Christmas, but I haven't completed it yet - I'm stuck in the space age, trying to look for lifeforms.
No TS3 for me till I see some very convincing evidense that I can't live without it!

Date: 2009-01-30 08:10 am (UTC)I waited until just last night to get really hyped up about TS3. I had dreams about it and everything. I'm getting a new computer around the same time as the so-called "release date" and it was all going to be perfect and auuuughhghhhh *head asplodes*
no subject
Date: 2009-01-30 02:23 pm (UTC)I wasn't planning to get it on release date, so I won't be the least bit upset if it's delayed 6 months.
Plus, that gives me more time to hoard more Target gift cards. I have $30 put back.
I don't see any benefit to preordering for downloads when I can them from MATY. If I go to the store & pick it up myself, I can usually get it marked down & not have to pay shipping.
Also, I'm not bored with TS2 either. By the time it came out, I was so over TS1 it wasn't funny. Even Makin' Magic didn't inspire me.
