Hey, I just posted a rant at [profile] sim_rants. It was my very first one. Isn't that wild? I just thought I'd share. (It's a slow news day.)

If you aren't a member of the comm, the rant was just about how I get irritated when people fail to name fortune sims by their correct name. I know... it's pretty important stuff, right? :P I can't lie, though... it irritates the crap out of me.

I don't mind hearing them called Wealth sims, but yeah... Money sims grates on me just a bit. And it never makes sense to me anyway because all they want to do is buy things. To me, a Fortune sim or a sim (or a person) who is that interested in aquiring wealth needs to SAVE THEIR MONEY A LITTLE.

I LOVE how Free Time enables them to have investments though!

I've also seen Popularity referred to as Reputation. I don't know if I like that or not. *shrugs* It doesn't necessarily say *good* reputation. ;)

I don't belong to sim rants yet... I'll have to go check it out.

I agree. Money sims is the one that I find annoying. Apparently, people just do it to be funny, though, and I missed the joke. :P

I see what you're saying about them blowing all the money, but it does makes sense that they'd want a nice home with expensive things in it too. It's conspicuous consumption, to show off their wealth (yeah, that's right, wealth - not fortune *snicker*).

I agree. I love the investments, and the financial counseling.

Popularity sims don't always want a good reputation, it seems. They like to fight too.

It can be pretty amusing at times. Now that it's a little older, it's not such a strain on your flist either. The posts used to be a bit overwhelming at first.

I like when a fortune sim is really poor, and they want to buy little things like curtains and flowers for their yard. It's cute (and realistic). They need the appearance of respectability as much as the actual cash flow.

That's how I see them too, and it really does work for those sorts of characters, whether it's an appreciation of "the good life" or more blatant "keeping up with the Joneses." I can see a fortune sim spending their last simolean on a vase of flowers, just so they can feel rich in spirit.
