I meant to post this earlier, but better late than never.
jessicus took the drawing of Johnny, Ripp, and Ophelia and turned it into a painting for use in the game. It's a recolour of a Glamour Life painting (a Bella Goth themed homage to Andy Warhol), and can be found here. Thanks for making this, Jessicus! It's available for download if you want to use it in your game (and I'd love to see pics of it if you do).
Jayne: So here it is! What do you think?

Ophelia: Well, that's us. There's no denying it.

Johnny: Man, you're so sleazy looking, Ripp! It's awesome.
Ripp: Fuck... I don't really look like that, do I?

Johnny: It looks EXACTLY like you!
Ripp: Whatever, No Lips. Your nose looks like a fucking needle. *looks at Johnny's nose* Yeah, just like that! It's so accurate... well, maybe not so much the neon green skin.

Johnny: You just can't handle the truth, Ripp.
Ripp: But It's not the truth, Johnny! It's just an artistic interpretation. It's exaggerated.
Johnny: Yeah. I only wish I could get my hair to look that good.

Ripp: Yeah, I know what you mean. I do kinda wish that I could at least have a fucking adam's apple, like I do in the drawing. Sometimes it fucking sucks to be a sim. So many missing or "implied" body parts. Have you ever seen what's left when they remove the censor blur? Nothing! I spend so much time trying to get into people's pants... all for NOTHING!
I may as well just play with my own imaginary parts!

Date: 2008-03-07 03:23 am (UTC)Wow, Johnny's nose looks so freaking thin in that shot!! And c'mon Ripp, you know you're sleazy, just accept it.
So, Ripp realizes that sims lack certain parts? Makes you wonder what he does with all those girls beneath the sheets. Course, you could always get a cock mod, but it's not like it matters. I also love how Jayne was there, but didn't say anything. But, I do love that Ripp is looking at her when he has his little revelation. As if to say, "If I had real parts, wouldn't mind using them on you." LOL I'm such a perv!

Date: 2008-03-07 11:05 am (UTC)I love that expression they make when they're telling a dirty joke. That's why Johnny's nose is extra thin. I laughed.
Shhh... don't tell Ripp that. *snicker* You'll destroy his fragile ego.
Obviously, this takes place in a special sort of reality, where they get to break the fourth way and talk about being simulated, so don't worry about the missing parts. In the story, they have them (through the powers of imagineering!). It's just funny to sometimes acknowledge that they actually don't. *snicker*
Ripp: I've wasted my life! *cries*

Date: 2008-03-07 11:21 am (UTC)Ripp would obviously not let something like the complete lack of genitals stand between him and having a good time.

Date: 2008-03-07 04:43 am (UTC)"Bella Goth themed homage" - your description is so much more elegant than mine. Ripp's teeth are very...large. Very cheshire cat.

Date: 2008-03-07 11:30 am (UTC)I went to art school, so I keep a supply of those descriptions in my back pocket for occasions such as this (as well as other concepts, like "the banal", "the body", and juxtaposition). I've always liked that word (homage), and almost all the painting in the game are homages to one artist or another. Hmmm. Has anyone ever pointed out all of the connections, I wonder? It would make an interesting post for thesims2 community.
Ripp's a pretty toothy guy. *snicker* That's such a great greasy grin he gave him. Totally cheshire cat. You're so right.

Date: 2008-03-07 01:01 pm (UTC)I'm definitely going to have to figure out how to do object recolours, so I can make some base game versions. It's just meant to be shared with everyone. If I work it into the story, I'd probably want to give them a smaller version, anyway, like they had it done by some caricaturist at the mall (and this painting would not fit in their apartment at all).

Date: 2008-03-07 12:13 pm (UTC)Jill (who is engaged to Ripp in my game): Hmmm... I dunno, Ripp. I think it looks like you.
Ripp: What the hell are you talking about, Jill? Where's my chest hair?
Johnny: Chest hair isn't everything, Ripp. I think the picture looks awesome.
Ripp: You only don't have chest hair because AllenABQ didn't make chest hair for aliens, Johnny.
Ripp: Come on... doesn't it look great? Admit it...
Ophelia: Enough about the chest hair, Ripp!
Ripp: Can you believe that, Jill? Ophelia doesn't want to hear about my chest hair!
Johnny: Heym, what's up with your wallpaper, Ripp? It looks like my shirt!
Ripp: You mean your shirt looks like my wallpaper! Well, at least it's better than that other thing you wear.
Johnny: Oh, you mean this? This totally showcases my ass. Ta-da!
Ripp (sighing at Ophelia): I can't believe you married him.

Date: 2008-03-07 12:42 pm (UTC)I love how Jill is framing it up with her "art hands". *snicker* I want to install Free Time so badly, and that pretentious move is one of the big reasons why. Love it.
I have to voice my love of Ripp's chest hair (and, of course, he leaves his shirt open to SHOW it! Oh Ripp...). I do enjoy body hair on a man, and I hope they give us some options for it (like with the varying degrees of stubble) in Sims 3. I can't picture it on Johnny though. Maybe it's just me, but I imagine that the aliens just aren't hairy at all, just smooth and green. They're just a different kind of animal in my mind.
Now that you've mentioned it, I'm actually surprised that my SO didn't add some chest hair poking out of the collar. He usually does draw that in (draw what you know, and all).
Yeah, Johnny, I agree. That is a pretty rockin' ass! ;) Does your Johnny do ballet? The idea doesn't entirely surprise me.
Thanks for sharing! It's fun to see your versions of them. (And interesting to see how you paired them up too.)

Date: 2008-03-07 01:53 pm (UTC)I just thought of somehting that will make you want to install FT even MORE. You can have a "veiw many" option for use in community lot art galleries. I'm planning to use that for Loki Beaker (he'll have a show). Hmm, maybe there will be another room of paintings and some characters could sneak off to look. . .*snicker* I have dialogue writing itself as I type this.

Date: 2008-03-07 02:49 pm (UTC)You mean, there is an interaction that would allow me to have a group of pretentious art types viewing work in gallery now? I may have to go home and install FT right now! That's just too good to pass up.
I can't wait to see Loki's show. And if this painting made a cameo appearance in Peculiar, I would be so thrilled.

Date: 2008-03-07 03:01 pm (UTC)I'm not sure the "pretentious art types" will do the "finger thing" though. So don't get TOO excited. (they'll probably do the view animations they already do, so maybe some gagging and wretching, that would be funny, a room full of snobs on the verge of vomiting)
I'm tempted to move the art show up and show it in the final round for Book 1, now. I'm looking for "filler" to pad out the big plot dump I'm taking so. . .but I don't want to rush it either.
no subject
Date: 2008-03-07 03:11 pm (UTC)Well, they'd do the "art hands" thing if they were into the arts and crafts hobby, and I can probably make that happen. I'll probably give Jayne that hobby preference, so once she's an art star, she can go around doing that all the time (I'm so pumped to do this now). I have to give her some art world buddies too. Maybe a conceptual artist and ooooooh! A performance artist! That Monica Bratford sorority girl is in the art program too. I wonder what kind of work she "produces". (And I do actually love art, but there is just so much room to mock it.)
The gagging would be pretty funny too.
"Taking a big plot dump." That's totally my new favourite expression. *SNORT*
Yeah, don't rush it, but I do look forward to seeing it.

Date: 2008-03-07 03:47 pm (UTC)Wait until you see what I did with DJ Verse. Man, she's so awesome (and she'll definitely be in the next round of updates--we're college bound so we'll see Bella and her girls DJ Verse and Klara Vonderstein, and roomies Almeric and Aldric).
It IS a big plot dump. I've been holding it in SO LONG and now's the time to let-er rip.
I think Loki's moment in the sun will have to wait until Book 2 (but that gives me some ideas for Book 2, which is very open at this point).

Date: 2008-03-07 04:10 pm (UTC)Whenever I add new characters, I try to keep this in mind (Edie's girlfriend, Val, is a big girl), and I have plans to let some of the current characters get bigger too. Maybe even some of the *gasp* main characters.
Now I want to know what you did with DJ. I like her too. I may give her some more play in my story at some point too, since she has that connection with Jaxy.
So you're finally going to share the geeky love with us, are you? It's about time.
*snicker* It's not good to hold it in like that.

Date: 2008-03-07 04:55 pm (UTC)I did notice Monica is frumpy/homely (and a knowledge sim). I'm going to give her a makeover and see if I can "hawt" her up a bit. I think a different hair style would do a lot for her.
I'm with you on the "plus sizing". I've decided if a sim gets fat on their own, it's a sign. Like Lazlo. He's just a fat boy. There's nothing that can be done about it. But it might just work in his favor so. . .
I can tell you all about DJ and it still won't ruin it. She got a super cool makeover. New hair, new specs, new outfit, new makeup. (the hair and the specs are newly downloaded just for her, too). It all came together so well. And the makeover really got me thinking about her "personality" too (oh, she got a LTW change too, hell with that "have 20 pet friends" crap).
Oh, the geeky love will make you swoon. I think the new round of updates might even open with college, seeing them before Marie and Pierre hit the scene (and drop a little plot turdlet in while I'm at it).
(and they'll be some Frances/Daniel in the next round, too. Just last night I shot a scene with them)

Date: 2008-03-07 01:52 pm (UTC)LOL! That's an awesome picture. And the best part is that I actually *just* got Glamour Life, so I'm gonna download it for my new legacy home (I decorated one of the rooms with the Bella tribute picture because I had no idea what to do with that wall), although those three are quite different in my story :D (well, Ophelia not so much, but still...).
The captions are hilarions. I quite enjoy those "breaking the fourth wall" moments, like Ripp's complaining about the "Barbie" quality of their Maxis skin. I have RenSim skins and they "sort of" have genitals (I didn't expect this, shows how much attention I pay to what I download!) and they still weird me off a little when the sims woo hoo.
Thanks for sharing this with us^^

Date: 2008-03-07 11:10 pm (UTC)Thanks. I love breaking the fourth wall. It's a lot of fun, and these little non-story things are a good opportunity to do that.
(Drawn on genitals? That's sort of funny. Maybe not as funny as having NO genitals, but it's all part of the charm of being a sim.)
