Strangetown extras: Transitions

Since I know that I could use a good laugh right now, I thought I would share these funny transition photos with you. Sure, I could save them for outtakes, and avoid breaking up chapter twenty two, but you know what? I'm going to do it anyway. Why not?
One day, I will transition into an outfit that is so cool that it will hurt your eyes...
Let's make a contest out of it, shall we?

Round One
Verdict: Not too bad. I would award Ophelia the prize for the best outfit, since it seems character appropriate as well as tasteful. Sorry Ripp. That's a great blazer (and you really do clean up well), but you blew it on the "staying in character" part of this challenge. Johnny gets bonus points for awesomeness and matching (I think that's a two-piece outfit, right?), but again... try to stick to character, J (or is that in character? I'm not entirely convinced that he wouldn't wear that). And Jayne, as much as I don't buy into things like "blue and green should never be seen", I have to tell you that those two colours do not go together AT ALL. And the turquoise track pants with heels have yet to convince me of their right to exist.

Round Two
Verdict: *snort* At least Johnny can take Cruella De Vil, aka Jayne, to the gala in fine style. (Jayne also got new hair for this shoot, thanks to the return of an annoying hair mesh issue, which required me to delete my hair download folder again.) Ophelia gets some credit for choosing a dress, which I can definitely see her wearing, but the pink seems a bit too girly (don't go crazy, Phi). Ripp somehow managed to win this round, since he seemed to pull that look off pretty well, even though he is not actually an intrepid explorer who owns his own small plane.

Round Three
Verdict: Put on some clothes! (Love the expressions in this pic. *snort*)

That's better (though I did enjoy the leopard print shorts, Ripp).
Verdict: Wait, this really isn't better. I appreciate that Ophelia is not afraid to make a bold colour statement, and there's nothing exactly wrong with her outfit, but there's nothing really right about it either. It's kinda bland. Kinda soccer mom. Johnny is just all over the map with these transitions! But he isn't convincing me with this attempt to look badass. Sure, Johnny, sure. And Ripp seems half right - the top half. But cargo pants in military green? I don't think so. So, the winner is... nobody.
Well, my mood has improved considerably. *snicker* This makes me look forward to the day that they actually do transition to adult. So many bad outfits to pick from... it's like Russian roulette for clothing.
Hmmm, I wonder why I was age transitioning them with InSIM? Only time will tell... *wink*
The next part of chapter twenty two should arrive sometime this week, but I'm feeling extremely unmotivated right now, so we'll see how it goes. Part of the reason is that it is now three parts instead of two, and the rest of the reason boils down to the fact that it's February, which is never my best month.

Date: 2008-02-20 01:12 am (UTC)Thanks. The second one is just ridiculous, isn't it? *snort*

Date: 2008-02-20 01:25 am (UTC)I swear EA put in coding that forces the game to give sims the most tacky outfit possible when they transition.
Not motivated? My unending love isn't enough to get you to update? *sniff* And three parts? This is going to be one hell of a party, isn't it?

Date: 2008-02-20 01:38 am (UTC)No, you're unending love is a great help. *smile* It's good to know someone is looking forward to it. I don't want to whine about it too much, but I'm feeling pretty blah right now. Winter is not my friend.
Oh yeah. The party is big. I have all of the young adult characters to deal with, and numerous interactions between almost all of them. The band plays, a dj spins (and her name is D.J. too - go figure), and several people see some things that they hadn't really planned on seeing. Some feelings are brought out into the open. But which ones...
no subject
Date: 2008-02-20 01:50 am (UTC)I know that last line about seeing things and feelings has to do with you know who, since it's all I talk about! Why torment me?! WHY?!
no subject
Date: 2008-02-20 01:55 am (UTC)And teasing you a little might help to motivate me, since you get so into it! :D
I thought you might like some things to ponder while I try to finish the next part.

Date: 2008-02-20 02:09 am (UTC)You know what's going to happen, and now you're just playing games with me!! *begins to sob* Just don't hurt poor little Frances, that's all I ask!
And "something else" could mean anything! There are going to be so many people there, I can't even fathom what may happen! My mind hurts just trying to think about it......owwwww
*head explodes*

Date: 2008-02-20 02:17 am (UTC)I would never really hurt Frances, and you know it. Nothing he couldn't come back from, anyway.

Date: 2008-02-20 01:56 am (UTC)Hope your Feb gets better soon. Mine's been mediocre too.

Date: 2008-02-20 02:06 am (UTC)Thanks for the well wishes. I suppose February might be fine in certain parts of the world, but here we have nothing but snow, rain, more snow, and more rain. And no sunlight. Or not enough, anyway. But it's almost over, so that's good.
I'm going to try to get the next part up by Thursday. It's good to have a clear goal in mind.

Date: 2008-02-20 02:19 am (UTC)So far, Johnny was the only one that I let decide on his own outfit. He chose the blue shirt all on his own.
no subject
Date: 2008-02-20 02:36 am (UTC)No 50's priss outfits, either (to go with another comment of no bra with mesh tops). The shoes on the priss dress are just too much, with those ankle bows. Good lord.
And you didn't get the raver "boy purse" either. That's classy.
(I'm so waiting to see one of my sims transition into one of the custom "untuckable" pants that have the cutout belly and a tucked shirt--that'll make my eyes bleed)
no subject
Date: 2008-02-20 02:48 am (UTC)I love that priss dress. Sarah Love is all about that look. Yeah, the ankle bows are pretty sweet too.
Do sims transition into custom clothes? Mine never have.
If you get "untuckable" pants and a tucked in shirt, you will see their ass hanging out, which would be so awesome.

Date: 2008-02-20 05:42 am (UTC)I'd love to have someone transtion into the santa suit.
no subject
Date: 2008-02-20 09:51 pm (UTC)If someone transitioned into Santa, it would just HAVE to become part of the story. No question.
I don't have that hack installed, but maybe I should... (now I'm thinking of how funny and awkward it would be if Ophelia transitioned into the maid uniform in front of Ripp. *snort* Temptation, much?)
no subject
Date: 2008-02-20 10:44 pm (UTC)I had no idea you could set custom clothes and eyes like that. I wouldn't mind adding more of Lyran's eyes to the genetic mix for townies, for some variety. I've never used the Wardrobe Wrangler. What else does it do?
no subject
Date: 2008-02-22 08:02 pm (UTC)Ophelia rocks the maid outfit, too. Especially if she's wearing the Lyran skin with the nipples *cough*
These gave me a smile. Especially the Cruella fur coat (I should get that stuff pack!) and Ripp's H&M blazer. That is SO not him. :D

Date: 2008-02-20 10:41 pm (UTC)It's great to be able to have sims with a non-alien skin and the alien eyes. It makes sense that those sims with mixed parents might end up like that.

Date: 2008-02-20 09:37 am (UTC)Great pictures *giggle*
Hope your February gets better soon 'cause these teasers are driving me crazy. (WannaknowwhathappensNOW! ;) I'm not much of a winter person either but at least the days are getting noticeably lighter!

Date: 2008-02-20 09:56 pm (UTC)I'm going to devote some time to taking photos tonight, so I just might get an update up. If not tonight, then definitely tomorrow. It's getting close to ready.

Date: 2008-02-20 10:15 am (UTC)Now you've got me wondering why you were transitioning those particular characters, lol! Hmmmm....
I've never paid much attention to what my sims transition into. I'll have to start noticing more. Funny!
Can't wait for more, although I completely understand the motivation issue. Life has a tendency to rear its ugly head sometimes! ((hugs))

Date: 2008-02-20 10:32 pm (UTC)Transition outfits are great fun. What a wonderful source of comedy, built right into the game. I love it.

And I'm looking forward to the next installment whenever you do get it finished. :)

Awesomeness as usual, keep up the great work!

Date: 2008-09-23 07:00 pm (UTC)I LOL-ed at Jayne wearing that enormous fur coat. She doesn't even eat meat, why would she wear an animal's fur?!
