Jaxy Rai and Rhiannon D'or

I started fleshing out a little more of Jaxy's past (and Zoe's too) for an upcoming chapter, since I've been thinking about it for a while and it all came together for me recently. I've always had an idea of what Jaxy's story was, but I actually jotted down some specific notes this time. Jaxy now has a mother, who she'll probably visit at some point (out of guilt and obligation). She doesn't know her father, so I didn't even bother to create him. Her story is fairly dark, as I've mentioned before, but I did find a little light in there too.







Here's Jaxy as a teen. She runs away from home during this time, and lives on the streets until she meets Rhiannon.




Rhi doesn't live on the streets, but only because she's taken residence in an abandoned building.




So, for a while, Jaxy does too.

There's more to the story, of course, but I'll leave it at that for now. Rhiannon does play a significant role in her life, while she's in it (yes, that's the key point, right there).






Here's a better look at her. I'm pretty happy with her design. I took an older sim I created for a prosperity challenge and further developed and exaggerated her features. I'm really liking her wide mouth.

The name is a product of all the Fleetwood Mac I've been listening to lately. It's also just a pretty name, and referencing a goddess is always a good thing for a character. D'or is french for gold, and the Rhiannon of Welsh mythology was described as being dressed in gold in one of the stories. I thought it had a nice ring to it. I gave her gold eyeshadow to continue the theme.

This will come up again several updates down the road.

Yeah, I'm also a pretty big fan of both the name and the song. And now the sim too... for such a minor character, she's really grown on me.

I just realized how similar Rhi is to Phi. *snicker* I must just have a thing with those sorts of names. I guess you could call her Rhia... though that sounds sort of weird to me, and Jaxy would go with something really short.

The name's grown on me over time. I have a friend who adores that name to itty bitty pieces and will probably name a kid, Rhiannon if she ever has kids. There's even a character that we created together that we've named Rhiannon - she wears a bucket on her head and spends most of her time in the branches of trees.

I like Rhi and Phi! Actually, I only shortened Rhiannon to Rhi, because I do that with my own Rhi. Habit! But it's still pretty and since she'll probably never appear beside Ophelia, it shouldn't be too weird.

I think it would be a very nice name for a child, even though you'd probably have people mispronouncing it all the time. (I like your bucket-head Rhi too. She sounds cute.)

Yeah, Ophelia will probably never be in the same room as Rhiannon (though, you never know... but not likely), so it shouldn't a problem.

So I guess this girl will be related to Jaxy's problems. Poor girl, considering Jaxy once tried to commit suicide, something really awful must had happened to them back then.

Thanks. I thought I'd push it a little wider than I'd usually go, and I like how it looks. I always try to push some detail a little to the extreme when I'm designing a sim, so they don't all look the same.

Rhiannon helps her to get through some of her tougher times. She's lucky to have had a friend like her during those years.

Did I say something about Jaxy attempting suicide, or are you referring to her drug overdose (which could be seen as a sort of indirect suicide attempt, though it wasn't really my intention). I hope I'm not forgetting what I've already written. I'll have to read back through the Jaxy stuff to be sure, but I thought Ophelia was the only character that has mentioned a suicide attempt.

I guess the way Zoe was so angry at her made me think she had done it on purpose.

Well, it would make sense. There might have been some subconsious desire to hurt herself there, but she wasn't intending to kill herself. Or, if she was, she realized at the last minute that it wasn't want she really wanted (even though it was too late to take it back). Her intentions are vague there, and since she was really high at the time, she probably doesn't even really know herself.

Thanks. I've been meaning to get to Jaxy's past in more detail for a while. Not TOO much detail, but you'll get the general idea.

Those poor university students need some sort of past. They don't come with anything in the game (which is what makes them so much fun too).

I love how interesting looking Jaxy looks, even as a teen.

Rhiannon looks interesting - very young, wideeyed teen look, especially with the oversized mouth. I think it makes her look a bit gawky.

Even more interesting is the way Jaxy seems like she's impossible to clone with SimPE. I always end up with a much more extreme and hooked nose on her when I clone her. It doen't make any sense.

I designed her as an adult, and with the way the teen features work, it makes her a lot more awkward looking, but I still like it.

Yeah, I'm sure I probably will, eventually. I'm going to round up all my odds and ends and post them for download. I have a lot of other minor characters that could be uploaded for safe keeping.

I've already had to recreate Lysander and Hippolyta Winterpoem once, so I don't really want to do that again. I'm going to upload everything. You never know when someone might want one of them (especially me).

The first thing that drew me in was Rhiannon's eyes. I don't know why but they just did.

I love seeing the back stories for sims and I really want to know what happened, other than just life in general, that had Rhiannon be such a short spark in Jaxy's life.

Honestly, I find Jaxy a lot more interesting than Zoe. Zoe seems spoiled to me. Almost as if she's playing this "lesbian thing" because she's in college and wants to be cool. I hope that this isn't the case as I don't want to see Jaxy hurt, but it would make it interesting story wise and more realistic.

It's fun to write these things and figure out what happened. I have this part just about worked out now.

I agree. Jaxy is more interesting than Zoe for me too, but Zoe has her own charm. She is a little spoiled like that (as far as I've worked out her story, which isn't as much as Jaxy yet), but she seems to be sincere about Jaxy. She has made it clear that she wants to be with her.

Thanks. :) I really should get my head into the next part, instead of skipping ahead of myself, but I usually just let myself go with the flow like that. If Jaxy is wanting to be written about, I'm not going to try to switch over and write about Nervous.

Rhiannon is amazingly beautiful. I love her eyes, her mouth... You really made her look wonderful! (I'm gushing because she looks so cool.)

I also love how her name connects to itself, I love when things work out that way. I should have given Sil a name that matched with her last name.

Is that the normal Light Blue, or is it one of Lyran's other ones? Either way, she looks great. :)

I love Rhia's (Rhi's?) hair! Is that the zombie hair re-done for teens? Is it on MATY? You know, I never did get my TS2 store stuff issue resolved with EA games yet, but I did learn one thing for sure this time. No more throwing good money after bad. I'm never buying another thing from that darn store!

You've made Jaxy into such an interesting character. I can't wait to see more of this backstory. I have a feeling Rhia was Jaxy's first lover? Yes? It's going to be such a touching story.
