The Stipe Legacy

Did you know that, once upon a time, before I even started writing a Strangetown story, I was playing a legacy? I know I mentioned this to a couple of you before, but you probably forgot all about it. I didn't even make it into the second generation yet, because I went for the "have 10 children" want and then started playing all the extended families. My founder was Michael Stipe (or a fairly failed attempt to recreate him), and he married one of my all-time favourite NPCs, Kaylynn Langerak.

Anyway, I opened up Chronic Town this evening, just to see how everyone was doing in there. I'm now thinking that I need to play these nuts a little more often. I witnessed two transitions that were completely hilarious.

Here's Kitty with her older sister, Carol. (Wow, that wallpaper is pixelated. I have to make a note to change that.)






And here's Kitty as the girl who wears a dragon suit 24-7.




As you can see, I made Michael's eyes too big, so the kids all get these intensely large eyes (I made him in CAS, and I could do so much better now, using BodyShop, but oh well...). She's a cute little thing.




Kitty spends all of her time playing with Wendell G. No, seriously... it's all she ever does. This kid is eccentric.

She has Kaylynn's nose, which has a very bumpy bridge.




It's more pronounced on men, as Peter illustrates.




Peter and Carol are twins (the second set in this family). One wants to be Captain Hero and the other wants to be a Criminal Mastermind. Peter's the "good guy".

Not to be outdone, Michael transitions into the greatest old man outfit ever...




He's Father Time.

The headmaster is not sure what to think of this family.




They get into private school with no issues.

I took a couple of screencaps for founder portraits, since I've convinced myself to pick this legacy back up. It's just a bag of fun, as you can see, so why not?

(Not a bad figure for ten kids. *snicker*)

So there you have it. Who knows? Maybe I'll eventually start using them for story purposes.

Sometimes, the game just picks the right outfit. Michael is proof it KNOWS.

I certainly hope you've had Michael smustle. It really feels like those bizarre moves would be his style *thinks of Losing My Religion video and funky dancing* Yes, right up his alley.

Yeah, what a great outfit. There's no way I'm ever changing it.

Those do seem a lot like his moves. He makes a good sim, but I wish I had made a better likeness. I had him wear a cowboy hat for a while, but the shaved head is more iconic for me. You'll also notice that he has eyeliner. For him, it just works.

Awh, Kaylynn is so pretty in your game! She's a black widow in mine; a story all to her own! She's so fun to play. She was my second sim ever to come up with their own personality- I love it! She passed it onto her kids, too. I love her family so much its a semi-legacy, teehee! She came pretty close to having ten kids in my game, but stopped a few short.

Kaylynn is great. I think she has a different personality in different hoods, though, since I recall playing her in Pleasantview as shy and nice, but she's really grouchy in Chronic Town.

Kaylynn would make a great black widow. She already has Don and Daniel lined up, doesn't she? So sneaky...

She does! In my story she nabs.... Daniel, Don, John Burb, Vidcund Curious, Nervous, and she procreates with General Buzz but he gets away.

Nice. I should check that out. When I'm always from my sims, I'm hoping to catch up on other people's stuff, so I'll have a look.

I'd love to play a young Olive Specter as a black widow, or even Ophelia. Maybe one day...

Heh... I'm not THAT cool. :P I'd love to check it out. It sounds like a lot of fun. Are you playing it by the rules, or just having a laugh with it? It's a story, right?

I think about that with Ophelia sometimes. She probably worries about Olive and whether her problem was genetic. She does worry a lot.

Yeah, Erin Singles would be good too, and maybe Circe. There are lots of possible black widows in Strangetown.

Well, I started by playing by the rules, but I really liked the story ideas. So, I scrapped the rules :P OH, and, um, Kaylynn bags Frances too xD

Yeah, I could see how that would be. I love Ophelia's genetics, so it would be great to see how her children turned out if she had them via many different fathers.

Yeah, there are. The ideas are almost endless!

Michael Stipe for the win! I've been a dedicated R.E.M. fan for my entire career as a music fan (well, except for the last few albums... they're falling off the wagon a little a little, but I still love them).

I think the slob has the same face template. You're probably right about that. It's quite the nose. I remember being shocked at first, but I quite like it now.

I don't get all this hype about Michael Stipe (haha, look at the pun, I be clever) but Kaylynn looks so nice! I love her with freckles, she's adorable. Ten kids? I'm not gonna condemn you, I went for the want in my legacy, Generation Three, and I did it the easy way- Three adopted, Seven Biological, Three Sets of twins, and I couldn't even use elixir. Yeah, good times. At least they were rich. :P

Also, I love that nose! Kaylynn's faces is one of my favorites, I tend to like the odder faces. The only one I don't like is "Pong's", the Gorilla face. It's irredeemable.

I like a strong nose, so that one really appeals to me too. Peter's secondary aspiration is knowledge, so I'm thinking that it would be cool to try to breed him with aliens (oh, but that aspiration bonus only applies to the primary aspiration, doesn't it? Hmmm... what to do, what to do).

Freckles are the new black. I'm all about the freckles.

That ten kids want is crazy, and this family has so much drama (Second son, Kensey, is sleeping with the wife of the eldest son, Kenneth, for one thing). They deserve to have at least a short story or two devoted to them.

I agree with Freckles, I LOVE THEM. I only have three freckled Sims, but I'm always looking for more (freckles) so I can have them all Freckled and adorable. :D

The bird's name is Wendell G.! :D

I can see the resemblance to Michael Stipe, even if it's not a perfect likeness. He also has your signature mouth-corners. ^_^

Yeah. :D I used a lot of names that were linked to the band in some way or taken directly from songs. Their firstborn son is named Kenneth.

He's not too bad for CAS, but you get so much more control in Bodyshop. He'll do. After ten kids, I'm not going to start over. (Heheh. I do seem to be a bit obsessed with the "lip pinch" slider. :P)

I actually lost those transitions when the game crashed as I was quiting. I should have saved first, instead of doing the "save and quit" thing. I can probably just recreate those looks, and maybe they'll be even better the second time...

At first I was wondering who Michael Stipe may be, but I know now. Anyway your sim of him is really cute, just like Jayne's father is real cute. So Kaylynn is fun to play huh? There are quite a few NPC's or townies that are real fun to play.

Did you keep the little girl in her dragon outfit the whole time and when I saw Micheal age into Father Time's "dress" I was laughing so hard! LOLOL

Did I mention the time my sim showed up to his twin brother's wedding in the Santa suit, with a camoflauge bandana...I was like WTF yo! LOL

Well, he's described himself as "an equal opportunity lech", so yeah... why not? (Really, I just wanted to breed him, so that made my choice easier.) Moz, on the other hand... well, he's still doing the "celibate" thing (unless you count aliens), but I'm letting him go with the flow.

Those are the only replicas of musicians that I've simmed so far. I did also name a sim Thurston Moore once, but he wasn't modeled after him.

no offense, but I really just don't see you as the type to play one family, al the time. The kids are pretty cute though, especially the twins. I love the nose- it's very Frances-esque.
