Since [info]homemadebird was able to supply me with a duplicate of Edie's outfit, I should be able to finish chapter 26 pretty soon. Edie is still missing makeup, but I might just have her go without, or give her something a little different. That's a pretty minor detail. Thank you for helping me out, homemadebird! I actually like your version of this recolour better than the one I used to have, since the jeans are less distressed. I'm quite pleased with it.

Edie: This new haircut has really done something to your brain.

Frances: Dance, dance, DANCE! I love to dance.

Edie: Yeah... you've lost it.

Edie's apartment is missing some of its cool wallpaper (I've looked, and can't find that same pattern), and I just noticed the blue vinyl blinds (eww) in the background where the wooden ones used to be. I'll have to redownload those, if I can figure out where they came from. Losing all of your cc is a huge pain in the ass, let me tell you. Everyone should back up their downloads folder. Believe me... you'll thank yourself later.

That outfit looks great ST! I love Frances and his new hair! *hugs* I didn't even notice Edie had custom wallpaper, I thought it was H&M Stuff for some reason...

It does. She did a great job on it.

Yeah, that brown and pink wallpaper in the corner was cc. You can see it in the background here. I'm sure it was just randomly found on some smaller site, so I don't expect to find it. I'll just give Edie something new, and we'll just have to believe that they put up new wallpaper. I can explain a lot of stuff as redecorating. I don't even need to mention it, really.

I don't think there was any wallpaper with H&M. They did include some build mode stuff in that SP, though.

Awww man, that's awesome wallpaper. Very tastefully feminine. I hope you find it again someday.

And the new outfit looks great! :) I don't think new makeup will be too much a problem . . in fact, hmm. That eyeliner looks REALLY familiar. *cracks knuckles* Let me dig through MTS2, those look really similiar to a set I downloaded long ago - she has some really exotic stuff in there, but also several cute short eyeliners.

MWHAHAHA~! Found them! The whole set's pretty crazy, but there's several very nice semi-gothy short liners, and one in particularly that really reminds me of her old eyeliner.

And isn't her lipstick from Rensims?

Date: 2008-07-17 05:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] silentsteel.livejournal.com
Oh! The liner in that set I'm specifically referring to, she named it 'Winged Liner'.

Oh, thank you! One of those does look really close. I'll test it out. (I just got home from work early, so I'm going to attempt to shoot that scene now.)

The lipstick is actually by HystericalParoxysm, and added it back soon after I started to rebuild my cc collection. I use her lipsticks a lot because they're not shiny and they have a translucent texture. They're subtle and look nice on a lot of different sims.

It was a really nice wallpaper, and I really hope I find it again some day (for now, I think she's going to paint that wall red or get another funky wallpaper). I loved those whimsical stars. It really seemed like something Edie would like. I'm sad to lose some of her decorations, since I did put quite a bit of thought into her place.

You're welcome! I hope it works. :)

I'm in love with HP's lipstick set - Which reminds me, I need to re-download them. ^^ I like using another, superglossy set of gothy colors for my more 'glam' ladies and gents though . . can't remember who made it.

If you find it again, could you let me know? I hadn't outright noticed it the first time around, but now that I've given it a long look (so if I find it first, I can tell you), I really like it! (Psst, there's a lot of wallpaper with that kind of feel in the Ikea stuff pack, of all things! O_O Not that mix of colors though)

I tried it out and it's a very close match, so it works just fine. ^_^ Thank you. The key was how much liner is showing under the eye. Edie's old makeup was like that too.

If I do find that wallpaper, I'll let you know. I'm going to do up a resources list one of these days too. I've been working on one here and there for a while now.

I have that SP already, but I'm waiting for SimPE to get updated, and maybe the lot debugger too. I've heard that Ikea Stuff breaks it, and I've been using it a lot lately (to give adult sims who start the game that way a uni degree, since it makes it more realistic).

-raises hand- I NOTICE EDIE'S LACK OF MAKE UP! If, that is a picture of her now. Isn't it? :P Just pointing it out! Is she wearing any make up?

She doesn't have any eyeshadow or eyeliner on in that pic. I agree that it is noticeable, but I sort of like her without maekup too.

My main issue is that she had some cc makeup that gave her more liner under her eyes than what I have now. It's similar, but not completely right. I downloaded a couple of other things, so I hope I find something that resembles it. A little variation would be so bad.

i'm usually the 25th person to post, but not today...lol Anyway, Edie's outfit is very, very nice. I really like the H&M SP. I never even heard of the store until this came out. Do you remember where you got her wallpaper from?

Yes, you're right, backing up everything is a must. I had the Phantom of the Arts (Opera) story going on a couple of years ago and lost everything. Yep i wanted to cry. So now I have a 500 Gig external back up drive.(very cheap) Love it. I do not write stories online, so I back my game up once a month.

You don't have to send me the Capps and Montys peeps.(thank you so much for the offer) When i get the courage to buy a new laptop, I'll start over and wont delete anything that comes with the game.

I love the H&M SP. It's easily my favourite one. The clothing is mostly pretty useable (with a few silly exceptions to make you laugh), and cc creators have combined the best parts to make a lot of really nice content too. I love how the clothing has actual volume, and isn't all skin-tight. That's a major selling point for me.

The first time I ever stepped inside an H&M was during a trip to Toronto last spring, and I picked up the H&M SP shortly after that, so I thought that was an interesting coincidence. I bought an awesome bright orange raincoat there - it has tiny umbrellas printed all over it.

Backing up is very important. I usually only do it when I add a new EP/SP, but I really should do it weekly. I have an external hard drive like that too, and it's very useful.

Okay, well the offer still stands if you change your mind. You're thinking of buying a new laptop? That's exciting.

I'm not sure if I've seen that recolour in action. Does it just recolour the Maxis blinds to be wood? The one I had was a different shape too. I'm pretty sure it's the one simgaroop mentioned below, but I haven't gone into the game yet to check it.

Date: 2008-07-17 08:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] saunasims.livejournal.com
Yeah, it adds like twenty-something different shades of wood to 'em. It's at the point where I'm using Piggis stuff almost exclusively, since there's so many options but all are matchy. There's literally only one colour I don't like, too, which is unusual for my picky self. :D

ext_122042: (Default)

I really should get those recolours for everything too (or at least the ones that I like). It's annoying how so few of the Maxis tables and chairs have matching wood.

I hear ya on the picky thing. ;) I'm so picky about cc.

I know. She really did a fantastic job on it. The jeans are much better, I think, and everything else is pretty much identical.

I think these are the wooden blinds that I used to have:

http://sims-2.gameslife.ru/objects_single9.htm

I have to check them in-game to be sure, but that's exactly what they looked like (with options for long blinds or short).

Even worse is how they only line up with certain windows. I can never seem to get that to work out for me.

I really like those long Holy Simoly curtains. They're nice and simple.

Date: 2008-07-18 05:09 pm (UTC)

I'll have to look for those.

I almost always use snapobjectstogrid false to place curtains, or to place other stuff that sits in front of curtains. Otherwise, they intersect. It's so annoying.

My Frances usually prefers washing the windows to dancing. He's the only sim I've ever seen do that, and it's really cute. Likewise, Tank's hobbies include taking out the garbage every five minutes. They're a tidy pair.

It's a great recolour. She could offer it for download publicly, and I'm sure many people would use it.

I think the problem with Pascal is that the Curious and Specter lots don't have many windows, so I don't see it happening. Frances has nice large windows that need constant washing.

Bright orange raincoat with tinny umbrellas sounds reaaally cute and daring. I couldn't pull that off, they'll probably think i'm the cool-aid man going down the street about to bust through somebody's house. LOL

Yea, I originally started playing my sims on a laptop back when sims2 fisrt came out. When the BV EP got here, I think things started to slow way down...maybe even with Season's. So since december ive been using my desktop and kinda miss playing the sims in the bed, and or wherever, sooo....one of the ladies at the Sims2 EA site helped me pick a decent laptop, but to wait till the new nvidia graphics card came out. It's here now, and I went for the HP laptop customized at their site. My husband may freak when he sees it. lol

Yeah, I guess it is a little daring. I do get a lot of head swiveling around when I wear it, because it's so bright. It brightens the gloomy days, and that's a good thing around here. The weather is more or less inclement by default, so we learn to appreciate the nice days.

I think Seasons slows the game down the most. The snow slows my game down now, if it's a busy lot, and I have a very good system.

I used to play Sims 1 on my old laptop, and I loved the ability to play in bed (the game, that is, not the interaction "play in bed", though that's fun too! :P). I used to stay up so late sometimes. Ahhh, nostalgia.

My desktop is an HP, and they seem to be good machines. The tech support is always really helpful too, which is a bonus. I'm all about calling for help when things go wrong.

When you started your re-hunt for cc, I was so happy I backed up my cc folder. I'm also so anal, I save the zipped/rar'ed files in a different place.

If I've lost everything with this current computer meltdown, I'll only have lost a few things, NONE of which have been shown in game yet. That makes me happy.

I know... I really regretted the fact that I had been saving my backups without the downloads folder (to say me some time). I used to back up downloads too, but then decided that it was unnecesary, and then forgot about it. How stupid of me. Please do learn from my mistakes.

I'm glad to hear that. I wouldn't even wish cc loss on my main enemy (though, maybe... *snicker*).
