Default Replacement PTs: Work in Progress

I was playing around with BodyShop a little over lunch, and here's a work in progress shot of a potential PT.

Some changes have been made to facial structure, but it keeps with the theme of the original - thin cheeks, flat nose (though bigger and lower on the face), and thin lips (wider, and a different shape). I changed the eyes, and the shape of the brows, and gave her more chin.
I'll probably work on her some more, but I like how she looks so far.
Is there a way to change just the ears in BodyShop? I've only seen a way to adjust the entire face shape towards the elf template, but not just the ears.

If you ever need help coding the PT hack once you are done with the sims, let me know :)

Your tutorial was pretty thorough, so I hope to just be able to follow that, if I focus my full attention on it. I'm going to be fearless. SimPE is pretty intimidating to me, but I really want to learn more about it.

Date: 2008-07-03 05:33 pm (UTC)Sure, I'll hold your hand if needed :D. But I'm pretty sure you'll be able to follow most of it. Once you get it, you'll realize it's a lot easier than you think.
And since I learned that, I've been doing more experiments with SimPe and created contacts and default eyes and skins. Before you know it, you'll do all that stuff too.
SimPe might be intimidating... but I'm more afraid of Milkshake, Photoshop and all those graphics software. Now those are scary! O_O

Date: 2008-07-03 05:58 pm (UTC)I do know about the ear size slider. I'm wondering about shape, not size. There's no way to change that for ears individually, is there? That's such a letdown. I'd also like to be able to adjust the angle of the ears to make them stick out more.

Date: 2008-07-03 06:42 pm (UTC)No, I don't know of a way to do that, without using the full face slider. Though I really wish you could. I'd also like to be able to choose the flat alien nose, instead of always having to start with a flat-faced sim.
And the ear angle -- how great would that be? You could make all sorts of cool ears without having to resort to custom ear accessories.

Date: 2008-07-03 05:55 pm (UTC)I want to just slide it to the pointy ears. I'm thinking the only way would be to start from the faery/elf template and then change the face, or use the pacifier baby generator in CAS with an alien face and a face with pointy ears, until you roll a sim with both. There has to be an easier way that that...
Thanks. :)

Date: 2008-07-03 07:34 pm (UTC)I'm thinking that the less pointy ears would be nice, since I already have the Veronaville faery sims with the very pointy ears. I don't think fwiffo's PTs have ears that are completely pointy either. Jayne's ears seem more rounded than Bottoms.
I like that he ended up with a bit more chin too. :) Chins for the win!

Feel free to edit however you want. For my set, I think I'll change his forehead/brow a bit, and make his hair one of the other colors. But the chin does look good, doesn't it? Makes him a little different from the usual PT.

Date: 2008-07-03 05:22 pm (UTC)As for the ears, I think you can adjust the size of the ears. It's in the same area where you can make the eyes bigger/smaller (the area where you can go just to foreheads or noses or chins).
I know when I was making very slightly pointed ears, I had to toggle between the "full face" sliders and the "parts" sliders (so the face wasn't so elf, just the ears).

Date: 2008-07-03 06:01 pm (UTC)Yeah, I know about the size thing, but there's nothing for shape of ears on their own, unless I'm missing something.
I think I'd have to start with that "pointy" template and work my way back by changing individual parts and not the ears. That's so inconvenient and backwards, and it would be way easier if only BodyShop had an option to change ear shape individually. Why didn't they include that? It seems like they should have.

Date: 2008-07-03 06:25 pm (UTC)If you're trying to get the gnarled ears, maybe take a sim that has them and use them as a template? Or you could breed sims in CAS and export their children back out and use the children as templates. Again, it's not the most direct route but it might make for some interesting results.

Date: 2008-07-03 05:45 pm (UTC)I think everyone mentioned it by now, but in BS they have sliders for ear size.
no subject
Date: 2008-07-03 06:03 pm (UTC)Yeah, they do have a size slider, but not anything for the shape to make them pointier. They are a number of things missing in BodyShop like that. It can be very limiting.

Date: 2008-07-03 08:23 pm (UTC)Very weird. This happened regardless of using the tombstone of L&D to impregnate them or having them summon aliens with the FT option. Interestingly, the debug - abduct interaction didn't work. Did FT bork it?
Anyway, we chose not to keep it in the game until we figure out why the family tree links aren't consistent.
I like your replacement, she's cute. :)
