Photos of the short and choppy hair

I acquired that new short and choppy Maxis hair, and since pixel_and_bean  requested that I share some better photos of the style, I did a little photoshoot with Jaxy.

(I'd like to suggest DYtD as the background music here. Check them out - they're a great band, and I use them as one of my sources of inspiration for Jaxy and Llama Dance Party.)

Who better to model this style than Jaxy Rai, who I would consider the poster girl for such a style. Not to say that a straight girl wouldn't wear her hair like this, but it seems more typical of a lesbian or maybe a hairstylist. Or perhaps a girl who has a hairstylist for a girlfriend. It's also a very suitable style for a rocker like Jax, don't you think?

I gave her a nose piercing, and it seems to suit her. I'd imagine she might have a tongue stud too, if only sims had tongues. *snicker* But they don't.






Oh, and the shirt is a tank by fanseelamb and the pants are by migamoo.


Now, as a bonus question...




Jaxy and Zoe were getting a little cozy, as they often do (triple bolters, don't you know), and this happened:




That's a memory for "kissed Jasmine for the first time", which left me a little confused. That was not the first time they kissed. Not by a long shot.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? What could be causing it, I wonder?

Ooh, that hair is beautiful and it fits Jaxy well! I really like it on her. Did you manage to avoid SecuROM?

I'm still a little iffy about the EAxis store, I like some of the hair choices, but EAxis has taken enough of my money! :P

The "reset" of memories usually happens to me when a sim moves out from anywhere and then move back in. Kind of like how townies could have "woohoo-ed" your sim a million times, but once they move in they get the "Very First WooHoo" memory.

I think this is a great look for Jaxy. It's hot. I'm going to transition her into it as her hair grows out.

Yeah, I did avoid SecuRom. I used the word "acquired" for a reason. MATY provided me with a useful alternative.

Hmmm. That makes sense, but neither of them moved. Gunnar moved out, though, so maybe that did it. Or maybe the hairstyle made Jaxy all fresh like a new girl? :P

That hair is very cute! I err... also got the files from MATY, so I can't wait to try them out :D. It really fits Jaxy's style too!

Yeah, I would probably have paid for one or two things on that site, but I can't have SuckRom on my computer again, so EA will have to be happy with the stack of money I've given them already. You have to love MATY.

Yeah, I agree. It's as suited for Jaxy as Frances' new look suits him.

Well, in the game (and the story too), Jaxy and Zoe still live together. I was going to resolve their current storyline with the lyrics challenge from simstorytellers, which was to be posted after the second part of chapter 26, but this whole computer thing has really set me back. I have all of the cc I need to move forward now, so I hope to get there soon.

That's a possibility, isn't it? The files are all the same, but there might be something there with the new installation. I'll see if it happens with anyone else.

Oh wow, that hair is great! Though I'll probably try to find it off of another site. I've been looking for something just like it for Olivia when she goes to college, actually.

Yeah, they don't. You see their teeth but never their tongue. I was thinking about it when I was writing a kissing scene. They kiss with their imaginary tongues and woohoo with their imaginary parts.

It's funny that you made Jaxy and Zoe lesbians. In my story, they are both married and have kids. You can check their family tree on http://aridia.tribalpages.com/ since I think it's funny to share how people use the same sims as you !

They have such good chemistry, it's hard to resist pairing them off. They do it themselves if given half a chance. I don't remember if I had to have them flirt-check out each other first to activate it, since many of those uni characters and dormies seem to be bisexual, but they fell in love on their own. I think the matching hairstyles was another factor that made them seem like a couple to me. They make a great pair.

It is really interesting to see how different people do different things with the characters. Thanks for sharing.

I do, however, have to make a point of saying that there is nothing to prevent my Jaxy and Zoe from getting married and having children, either together (well, not biological kids, but there are at least three other options), or with another partner. I assume that you meant "married to a man", but I just had to mention it.

I wasn't really into the clothes at all, but I can see how it would work for a different style, like fantasy settings. I like the Mayan (I think that was it) dress, and the male outfit with the vest. I LOVE the vest, and I was going to go out looking for something like that for Frances when he transitions to adulthood. I can't wait to see recolours of that, and I may even make one of my own, just for him.

That hair is so very cool. Wow. So much nicer that Maxis' previous attempts at spiky, tousled hair. I would even pay a dollar for it. But fortunately, I won't have to. >:)

It looks especially great on Jaxy, there. Somehow the combination of the hair and the severe makeup makes her look really tough, and yet vulnerable at the same time.

The first picture of her with Zoe makes me snerk. What're you doing with your hand, Jaxy? Zoe's hand on top of it seems like token resistance, but her face says yes, yes, yes. ;)

I know. It's worth a dollar, no problem, and I'd definitely give it to them if they took away the threat of SuckRom. Funny thing, that. It's not serving the purpose they intended it to, is it?

I like this much better than their other attempts, like that choppy cropped uni mesh, or the one with the gelled spikes. Those never really did it for me. I've used them, but not that much.

Tough yet vulnerable is exactly what I was going for. ^_^ I think it's a good look for her, and I'm going to use it for her in her adult life.

I noticed that too. :D It really looks like she's slipping her hand under her skirt there, doesn't it? Well, what does Zoe expect with such a short dress on? Jaxy can't resist.

I second pixel's thanks for the pics (especially from all the angles, I like to see if there are any gaps--I HATE hair gaps).

You found this on that MATY thread (in the peasantry)? Did you have to do anything "weird" to get it to work? (I saw there was some conversation about making a new file directory and blah blah, which discouraged me).

Seeing that his hair looks really nice, I'm becoming tempted to get it (as long as I don't have to work to hard to get it to show up).

Any horror stories?

I threw the links in an folder entitled EA Store in my Downloads folder, and it's showing up fine for me in my game. Give that a try, first?

It's pretty gap free, and with 50% less cranium than those other meshes. *snicker* Yeah, I'm still WTFing over that. I can't get over it.

Yeah, it's from the peasantry section. Start from the end of the thread and work back, because they posted fixed versions of the objects and even a new curly hair mesh that doesn't suck as hard (in fact, it's quite nice).

I just dumped them all into one folder (so I could easily keep track of them together) under downloads. Doesn't matter what you name it - just ignore the scary technical talk. I just called the folder "Sims 2 Shop" or something like that. It works fine.

That's an EA hair? From their stupid store? Hmm. And you got it from MATY? I need to look into this. (Like my downloads folder has tons of space :P)

Yes, yes, and yes to your questions. You'll want to go to MATY and check the peasantry section. They've even fixed some of the problems with the hairs (like the freakin' HUGE forehead on some of the meshes) and objects (making the one-tile objects occupy only one tile instead of two).

I have tonnes of space in my downloads now. Woohoo! Too bad I had to do it the hard way.

Okay, that's cool. The game won't implode, so that's good enough for me. I'm going to have weird double memories, though. That should be interesting.

Huh! I haaaaated how that hair looked in Bodyshop, but your shots makes it look good! Very very nice. :D My own favorite hair is that piled on one that comes in plain and with a tiny tiara and fringe. The former is just perfect for ye generic 50s/60s housewife look, I think. The other one I like is the french twist, it's actually outright pretty! And both have a nice sheen, unusual for Maxis.

I LOVE the french twist too, and the chignon. Those are some of my own favourite formal hairstyles, which I use on special ocassions. I don't usually go for sheen, but it's nice in a formal 'do.

So where do you get this kind of stuff? The Maxis store? Huh. I've been on there and all I've ever seen for d/l are actual games, like full games that take HOURS to download on my laptop and DAYS to download on my (dial-up) PC! I've never seen just hair or clothes. Is it in the Exchange, like the run-with-scissors package?

I'm currently d/l the IKEA Stuff Pack that I found on there. I had a ZOMG moment when I saw Apartment Life on there, but then I realized it was pre-order. :P

You can purchase the items individually, and some fixed, SecuRom-free versions are being shared at MATY too. I'm not interested in getting SuckRom on my computer after my recent issues, so I really wish they wouldn't include that with it. I'm just paranoid about it now.

I bought the Ikea SP the other day, but I'm probably going to wait for a SimPE update. I'm not dying to have anything on it, like with Kitchen and Bath, but I do like the stuff. I can wait.

Yeah, they've had more than enough of my money already too. When you add it all up, this is a very expensive game, but not more expensive than those online games, where you pay for time spent online.

I'm not letting them force SuckROm on my computer again, though. I fell for it with the Spore Creature Creator trial, and once bitten, twice shy. They've turned me off from ever using this store, unless they change their approach.

Yeah, the cinnamon buns work better on a little girl, but initially, I couldn't think of anything better for her. Right now, she wears a male to female conversion of the fauxhawk hair. That works pretty well for her, but I like this new short and choppy style a lot better.
