Since many of you have installed Free Time by now, I'm sure you've become pretty used to Mr. Humble, if not a little annoyed by him. If so, you might enjoy this small amusement from my latest play session. Mr. Humble didn't sneak away so quickly this time.

Oh, look! He's complaining that he can't move, because SOMEONE placed that present in his way. He was trapped there for hours, until someone finally collected it.

Mr. Humble just can't see a way out of this one.

He couldn't just pick it up, or step over it. No, that would be far too easy.

Silly sims.

I love when they get stuck because of the smallest things. Or, even better, when there's absolutely nothing in front of them. Those are the best.

Since I don't have Freetime can you enlighten me as to who Mr. Humble is?

Yeah, sims getting stuck by nothing is pretty much the greatest thing ever.

Mr. Humble is this guy who shows up at every household when you start playing it for the first time (or the first time after your installed FT) and he leaves a present, which is a computer that has Sims 3 installed on it. It's basically just an ad, but everyone gets a free computer, so why complain?

Okay. I've heard of the guy brining the computer but I didn't know his name.
So he put that gift down and got himself stuck, didn't he? LOL! Mr. Bright indeed!

Yeah, he's the guy that brings you the computer. He was the one who put the present there, so he really only has himself to blame for this. :P

*sigh*

Poor Mr. Humble. And, why would he step over it?! Its MUCH more productive to stand there and whine about how he can't move than actually do something about it. ;)

Sims teach us so many things. Why act when you can whine about it instead? Good life lessons here...

Hahaha, that happened to me yesterday! He just ended up disappearing, though. I just think he didn't want to meet my zombie sim. "Oh no, the zombie's coming near me! TELEPORTING POWERS ACTIVATE!"

She didn't even get a welcome wagon or an invite downtown. XD

I love it when one f the NPCs gets all badass and just teleports out of there. *snicker* Like they're Captain Hero, or something. My Mr. Humble didn't teleport this time, but maybe I didn't give him enough time.

Wow. Your zombie sim must have been really frightening. I didn't think that anything could stop that welcome wagon.

Bwahahahaha! He's such a genius! :P

He actually almost destroyed one of my "families" by accident. I was playing my "preschool lot" (the one I built for the simstoryteller challenge #5) and that dumbass somehow placed the box in front of one of the little kids.

Since I was busy taking the pics for the challenge, I didn't notice that one of the kids was trapped until I got that message from the social worker because his temperature was off the charts. I almost got all my "students" taken away :P.

Sims can be so smart. That's smart, S-M-R-T.

Oooh, you had one of those sinister Mr. Humbles. :P He tried to trap an innocent toddler and have him/her starve to death or overheat. Maybe he was also the sim responsible for removing the ladder from the Broke's swimming pool. He's out around town, dropping off presents, and taking a thing or two along the way... maybe he was the one who kidnapped Bella! :O

I think we're on to something now...

Oh... I see the connection! Perhaps it was him the evil mastermind behind all those Tricou (the vampire family from Downtown) murders too!

And people kept blaming the aliens for many of those things!

(You realize I now want to write that story, right? :D )

Yes, it's all starting to make perfect sense now. *nods*

Oh you really should write that story. Just a little thing. "The Truth About Mr. Humble."

Do it. :D

I tried to fence him in once but he just disappeared eventually. Boo!! :P

I wonder if mine would have teleported too, if I had given him enough time? He didn't seem to want to go anywhere.

Now I'm Curious about him... (Yeah, I noticed that I capitalized curious, but I figured I'd leave it in there for a laugh)... is he a special NPC like the social worker, or a normal one that you can call up on the phone> I have to go test it out.

As far as I know, he's kind of like BV's tour guides or the Fire Dancers. He's pretty much un-interactable. Which is kind of a shame. I'm sure while he's on the lot you could use the Insim to cheat a pregnancy off of him (like you can Santa Claus and Father Time) but that's sad too because he would never know his kids. *sob!*

On another sort of related note, my sims always always always have heartfarts for the fire dancers, Mr. Humble, the tour guides, the unsavory charlatan, etc. Even good old Captain Pirate Guy from the pirate ship (I forget his name, lol) Yet they can't interact. (shrugs) Wierd.

I would have assumed that, since he's a real guy. (Poor Mr. Humble and his orphaned children.)

Ophelia blew hearts for the (zombie) tour guide, and now they all talk about the hot zombie tour guide. LOL

Oh, and the unsavoury charlatan found her hot. *snicker*

Am I the only one who finds hi annoying? I don't want all my sims to have the best computer. Some of them are not that rich...!

Yeah, I know. I don't want everyone to have that computer, but if I sell it I can't just buy it back (which bothers me), so I end up keeping it in everyone's inventory... just sitting there, annoying me.

Date: 2008-05-26 09:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] simsbarbie.livejournal.com
Sofie I would either sell the computer for cash,($1000)...or switch it for an older looking model to fit your sims lifestyle and decor, which costs the same amount. You may also send it off to another one of your sims as a gift.

I know.. but I still think it's annoying! :D I'm wierd. Maybe it's because I usually move sim into lots, build and decorate their houses and then start playing. And then out of nowhere, comes Mr. Humble with the computer - and then I've usually already bought a compiuter for my simmies. *Shrug*

I have sold it off a couple of times, when I was sure I didn't want it for that character. The problem with re-gifting, is that everyone already has their own. *snicker* Then you're no better than Mr. Humble himself.

He did the same thing when I was playing the Singles girls in Strangetown, when they lived in one of those little houses already made.

I was going to see if he died if I kept him there long enough, but I let him go free. He won't be so lucky next time!

From: [identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com
Man, I didn't even think about trying to see if he'd end up dying. I think it would freak me out too much, knowing that he's based on a real guy. Though, since that guy is responsible for the inclusion of his own hairstyle in the game, I might be able to bring myself to do it. The vanity of it all! Oh wait, that's like the least vain hairstyle imaginable - it's a non-style for the every-guy. It does have it's uses, I suppose, but there were so many other male styles they could have included instead.

From: [identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com
I kind of like that hair style... But only on certain people.
I've only used it on one person so far. You probably would think that it's weird who I put it on though. :P

From: [identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com
I'd just like to see a couple of different short hairstyles instead, like that "messy" style, but just a bit different. There aren't enough different types of normal, short male hair in the game.

Now I'm curious to know who you put it on. So far, I've only put it on sims to amuse myself, but the right character might come along eventually.

From: [identity profile] xel-squirgle-ox.livejournal.com
Well uh, you probably won't see him until my Gen. 2 kids finally go to university. He's been waiting there FOREVER and will probably play a large part in my story if I actually go with what I have planned.

Now, the funny thing about Mr. Humble is he is supposed to be an employee of EAxis! Now I bet he regrets volunteering to be the guy who sends the previews of Sims 3 to every Sim house, after hearing how much people think he's annoying. Either that, or he's happy about it in some strange sadistic way.

I do like getting the expensive computer though. Usually I just have my sims keep it, but it really helps if I don't want them to have a computer.

He probably gets a kick out of it. I would. He's already the new legacy cliche, even. ("And then, a mysterious man arrives with a gift, so I sell it to buy wallpaper and floors...") I wonder if any players have fed him to the cowplant yet.

Yeah, I usually keep it too, even if it's just in their inventory. I have a problem with selling it off, since I can't just buy it back (though, I could just move into a new house and get a new one, I guess).

Have you ever seen Angry or Confused Humble? I just love when he comes out of the shadows of the street corner and looks SO MAD that he has to deliver another present.

" This is the third one this week! Does she ever stop making Sims!?" :P

*snort* No, I haven't seen that, but it sounds awesome. I'd be pissed off too, if I had to do that for the rest of my sim existence. I'll definitely keep an eye on him next time to see if I can catch him grumbling. Heheh... Mr. Grumble.
