Strangetown Extras: Vali Beaker

I'm preparing my game to install Free Time. That means removing all traces of InSIM for now (I leave those objects all over the place, so this was quite a task), and checking in with each household to make sure that everything is okay before I install the new EPs (yeah, I'm adding Bon Voyage too - goin' right crazy, I am). I'm also going to extract all the new character files from the game, just in case. Since babies don't show up in CAS, I thought it would be best to age up Vali Beaker. Are you ready for this? Yes?

Who's that pleasant looking little fellow?




Why it's Vali Beaker, son of Circe and Loki. No paternity test required here. That's definitely Loki's son (he has Circe's nose, though).




Did I say pleasant? I meant vicious. The personality stats say it all:

sloppy/neat: 10
shy/outgoing: 9
lazy/active: 8
serious/playful: 0
grouchy/nice: 0




After he works the puzzle piece in with his ingenuity and brute force, he contemplates further world domination.

Yeah, I'd say this is one guy to watch out for.

I know. He might just be the mailman's son. Doesn't look anything like Loki AT ALL. I'm so pleased with him. Loki's genetics live on.

Oh, I'm on my way. Once I get everything in order, I'm there. I'm so looking forward to some of those new objects. And secondary aspirations! I can't wait to see how that will put a spin on things.

He really does look like what I imagine Lucifer looks like. (And he matches the Lucifer from Neil Gaiman's The Sandman series, who is an awesome character.)

Isn't he cute? I love him, ever though I don't trust him AT ALL. He's evil cute.

I'm very excited to finally take the plunge. I know I will go crazy without InSIM, even with all the replacements that Madame Ugly collected (thanks for doing all the work, by the way, Madame). I expect to see it update soon anyway, so I can make do for now.

Oh, and I forgot to add (though I do think you know what I'm going to say)... Watch out for those crazy Bon Voyage people! If they come home from work/school with one of your Sims, prepare for their wacky cultural antics to spread through the family like the plague! You know about Tank with the bowing, but I don't think I ever mentioned that Maxis Curious is OBSESSED with doing the hula? (Yes, yet another gay OVERTONE. Thanks the Sims 2!)

Yeah, I've heard that those cultural things can be annoyingly persistent. I may have to get the MATY fix to reduce their frequency. I'm sure they'll be amusing though.

Good luck with the new Eps! make sure to get the fixes for the bad memory problems with FT and just so you know (if you don't already) the insim OBJ edition, tho is not updated yet, is very safe to use with the last ep. At least for the basic things its working fine for me.

Is it really safe? I've heard otherwise. I hear that it works well enough, but may cause issues if you use it. I tend to avoid anything that might cause problems, even if I'm being overly cautious.

I think he turned out quite well. I was hoping that he'd resemble Loki. Not that I had any doubts that those eyebrows would live on. :P

Selfsim breeding is so sketchy, especially if you've altered the basic face templates a lot. The game doesn't mesh those big differences together very well.

Loki and Circe had two kids just like that in one of my games. They looked blatantly evil and had shit personalities to boot. BUT those two kids were actually triplets (trip/quad hack) and the third kid looked nothing like Loki (tan skin, red hair, Circe's face). He was also incredibly sweet and eventually became a fat old grandpa after marrying Jill Smith's kid.

I love this genetic combination for Vali. With his blond hair and golden skin, he should be quite handsome in that surfer boy sort of way (ignoring his frightening eyebrows *snicker*). I love red hair, but red hair with the darker skin tones really annoys me. I know that sim world tries to ignore details that would indicate race, and it adds interesting genetic possibilities, but it still just looks wrong to me.

It's hard not to get the shit personalities, given the parents. They have no nice points to pass down. If you get a nice kid, it would be one of those random things where sim kids get an extreme in one category that is different form their parents. I was waiting to see if that would happen, and if it had, I would use it to shape his character differently.... but he's just a chip off the ol' block.

I've had kids of Lokis with that exact personality, or very near to it (at least with the 0/0 serious/grouchy!) Oh my Lord they are a hoot!

I can't help it, I really like Loki. I like his personality extremes, I like his crazy genetics, and I love it when his kids end up just like him! Squee!!!

Oh man... what an evil looking toddler! He's Loki reincarnated and he has such an evil personality too! I'm sure he'll be really fun to play with! :P

Good luck with BV and Free Time! I had no trouble installing BV (after dealing with FT) and it seems you are almost ready ^^. I read madamm_ugly's post with the hacks she's gonna use and that's actually what I also use to "substitute" Insim.

Both the SimBlender and the Teleporter include the options I constantly used with Insiminator. For the rest, I learned to use the "TestingCheats" to spawn the SimModder (to give skills or badges to some minor characters) for example.

Install the BV patch as soon as possible, but wait for the FT one (though I think it's not available anymore) because I read it was "wonky". Go to simbology.com and get the "Critical Fix for FreeTime" (it's on the "Dead Pool", or something like that) because there's an issue with second aspirations (I never had it in my game, but better be safe, right?).

And if you want the NO-CD file to avoid Sucku-rom, I can upload the one I use at the moment.

I think he's cute! Of course, I'm biased, because his personality spread is almost identical to my favourite, a delightfully misanthropistic pleasure sim from my legacy hood.
