I'm trying to come up with a list of colours that are iconic to The Sims 2. I'd like to try to get at least one for every colour of the rainbow and build from there. Here's what I have so far:

Red: Bella's dress
Pink: freezer bunny
Purple: woohoo hearts (though looking for something more child-friendly, if you have any ideas. It's the sort of euphemism you'd use around a baby/toddler/child, but I dunno...)
Blue: aspiration icons
Green: plumbbobs (bright) and alien skintone (mint)
Yellow: chemistry bolts
Orange: ???
White: ???
Black: Grimmie's robe
Brown: ???
Gray: Gray Woman of Sim City

White, Green, Gold, and Red can also relate to the aspiration levels for the plumbbob, so that's another option.

If you have any ideas for the ones I'm missing or any additional ideas for any of the colours, I'd love to hear them.

Ah! Yeah, that would work for one or both of those. I had forgotten all about llamas. I'll work that in there somewhere, for sure. Thank you!

I'd count the Platinum plumbob as a significant white.

Genies and vampire bats/particle effects are also purple, but I think woohoo hearts are more iconic than those.

Orange - Grilled cheese! (though the first thing I think of is how the stove always catches fire. :P)

Grilled Cheese! That is perfect for orange. Thank you, thank you! And it's exactly the sort of orange I want.

All of these other ideas are good too. I think platinum is definitely the lead contender for the white name.

Could a cowplant be used for anything? That's pretty iconic, though I don't know if any one colors sticks out.

Bonehilda black would also be alliterative.

I think the cowplant is more of a print than a colour, and I already have that one filed away for future reference. Cowplants are very iconic.

I think Grimmie would beat out Bonehilda for the black namesake, since she didn't make it into the Sims 2 (officially). I'm also considering "Mortimer" for black to go with "Bella" for red.

"Goth" black maybe? I guess I think of Grim as grayish because of TS2, though the other games have him in jet black.

The elixir of life and Servo tummy orbs are also bright green, but I think they're supposed to match the plumbbobs. A symbol of life I guess.

I'm interested to see what you're up to. :)

Goth would work well, but I think I still prefer Mortimer. I can see what you're saying about Grim, but I still think he's meant to be black. It's seems like a faded, ghostly black to me.

I think you're right about both of those things referencing the plumbbob colour for that exact reason. The Servo power source looks exactly like a plumbbob, doesn't it?

I'm hoping you'll be able to see some results pretty soon. Did you see the hint on Tumblr?

I was going to suggest Grilled Cheese for either orange or brown! :D

White could either be Platinum Plumbob, or maybe a condo from Pleasantview - they're quite iconic.

Also, for grey you could also do the Bella statue from Belladonna Cove (hey, that could work for white too! A closeup of her Plumbob!)

"A closeup of her Plumbob" was not meant to sound rude, but it's the only way I can read it now O.o

I can't believe I missed Grilled Cheese. That one is a must.

I think "Permaplat" has a nice ring to it, and that's slang simmers use for when sims reach their LTW. Those condos are certainly iconic, but I don't know if they work as well for a name.

Belladonna is a nice name to use in some form. I think once I use the one name for each colour I might branch out to some others.

Haha. Fair enough. With any luck, you won't have to wait too long.

brown - Bigfoot, Werewolf
purple - Genie (but woohoo hearts are better)
silver/grey - Servo, dark grey - Zombie
yellow - Dina gold digger
army green - General Grunt
black - Grim Reaper, Olive, Cassandra's pigtails

Lots of good ideas here, but I especially like Bigfoot, Genie, Servo, and "Grunt Green" (not surprisingly). Thank you for the great suggestions.

Orange: furious flames. They seem to be a nice shade of orange, right?

That's an excellent idea for a darker orange than Grilled Cheese. It's a keeper! :) Thank you.

I don't know, the first thing I thought of for orange was Lilith and Angela's hair. It's supposed to be red but.. hey. The matchmaker is also a bit orange-y

Thank you! Those are both good ideas for other orange hues. And I do agree that the Maxis red hair is pretty orange.

You could use ghosts for white (or any other ghost color, but white is traditional, you know?)

Edit: There's also Delilah O'Feefe for Yellow, although that might be a bit too obscure. (Aren't you the one who did Delilah O'Feefe in all yellow? edit: Yes you were (http://strange-tomato.livejournal.com/222750.html))

The ghost colours could be a whole series in itself, couldn't they?

I like the Delilah idea and the thoguht of naming colours after sims in general (I'm using Bella and Mortimer). I considered using Johnny for yellow too, in honour of his golden hair.

Are you doing a children's book with simlish colours?
(My first thought when I saw this LOL)

That's a pretty good guess, actually. ;) It does involve children, and toddlers more specifically.

That would be a very fun children's book. I have a book like that for Pantone colours, which I love.
