I was recently asked on Tumblr to give details on how I see the heights and body types of characters in Strangetown, Here We Come, and I thought I'd share them here too. Some of these details have been given in the story itself, but some haven't (like Buck's height, I think).

This is how I see them right now, though some of this could possibly change. I didn't give actual numbers for heights, just how they are relative to what’s average for North America (roughly 5’4.5” for women and 5’9.5” for men). I stuck with the main six and their peers. If anyone is curious about some of the older generation characters or any other specific character that I didn’t include, feel free to ask.

Johnny: Tall, lean and muscular. He’s about a foot taller than Ophelia, maybe a little more. Easily the tallest of any of the main characters.

Ripp: “Slightly” above average height (Heheheh), with a stocky build that could be very muscular if he ever worked on it. He’s developing a little beer gut, but of course prefers the term “love handles”.

Ophelia: Shorter than average, with a pear-shaped figure.

(My main three have a sort of ecto/meso/endo-morph dynamic going on.)

Tank: Around the same height as Ripp, but they’ve never actually gotten close enough to compare it. Both would assume Tank is a bit taller. (And maybe it's just his better posture.) Built “like a brick shithouse” because he’s worked hard to perfectly hone his natural Grunt physique.

Buck: The tallest of the Grunts. He’s still overweight, but grew into it and now carries it pretty well.

Jill: Average height and slightly on the thinner side in the way that her alien father is. Not what you’d call skinny, but not very curvy either.

Jaxy: Thin and wirey, and much stronger than she looks. Shorter than average. She’s one of the shortest characters.

Zoe: Classic pinup style curvy and average height.

Frances: Pretty average in all regards, but not very muscular. (Worthingtons don’t exert themselves. Are you kidding? :P)

Beau: On the short side (though not overly so) and fairly thin. Has an overall boyish appearance, and most would refer to him as “small”.

Lucy: Slightly taller than average height (and close to the same height as Beau). Very curvy and full-figured.

Bottom: Average height and weight… for a faery. So smaller than average height for a sim. More or less average weight for that height.

Nervous: Tall and unnervingly skinny, like his father was made of just bones or something.

How come you don't stretchskeleton the Sims?

Need I say more?

I don't have any problem with leaving something like height to the imagination when the game is clearly not designed to handle animating height differences.

Oh, haha. I always thought it was odd that the animations never worked with Sims of different heights. Since with some animations, such as slow dance, holding hands, and caressing, the bone joints clearly link up with the correct area of the receiving Sim, so I thought it wouldn't have been impossible to get the animations to link up that way.

Well, whatever, this is lazy EAxis we're talking about. :P

Kind of unrelated, but do you think the aliens have body hair?

In my version of things, they don't. I see them as having hair on their heads, based on P.T. No. 9 and Stella, but not much else. Hybrid sims are also usually quite hairless, with some exceptions (like if they get it more from the sim side of their genetics).

That's why I never put any facial hair on Johnny. If I used body hair overlays (and I probably won't ever, just because sims in TS2 don't naturally come with it and none I've seen have felt that Maxis Match to me), I would definitely give the Grunts body hair, but Johnny wouldn't have any.

Second question, do you think aliens have freckles? I gave some to PT9 and Chloe. I think they look quite cute with them. :D

I don't know if I have a strong opinion on that. I didn't use freckles on the Strangetown alien sims in SHWC, but I could just as easily seem them with freckles, given how light the alien skintone is and how there's so much sun there. I do use freckles on sims sometimes, and if I was starting the story today, they might have ended up having them.

Freckles are cute. I like them, too. :)

I'd use CuriousB's alien spots instead.
