Sim Resolutions for 2012

I was inspired by
simtopi's Sim Resolutions post for the new year, so I'm making my own. Here are my simming resolutions for 2012:
1. Become more active in the sims community, but continue to maintain a healthy online-real life balance. In many ways, I'm resolving to spend the next year focusing on real life above online interests (what with the baby coming and all), but I'd like to be more social around here and actually get to know some of the interesting new simmers a little better. I'd like to have meaningful discussions and create more stories and maybe some content. Quality over quantity is the order of the day. I want my time spent in this community to count.
2. Continue Strangetown, Here We Come. I'm not about to commit to completing it in the next year, because I know that's not on, but I do hope to get back to updating it. I resolve to at least finish the chapter I'm on and then the next chapter (which also has 3-4 parts to it). The next will be a meaty plot chapter, so that just might serve to reignite the updating fires. If nothing else, it should leave readers with something interesting to chew on.
3. Finish the Tomato Legacy. Hell, I'm up to generation five in gameplay now, so it should be do-able. There are updates waiting in the wings! There's no reason I can't share that silliness with the world. And I'm sure it will be fun.
4. Finish playing the uberhood up to where it should be in the S,HWC timeline. I'm almost there. It's fun to finally see some of the uni and teen premades as adults out there in the sim world.
5. Take things less seriously and be a force for good in the community. Like
simtopi, I resolve not to indulge in sims community drama or get caught up in pointless arguments, feel needlessly jealous when I could be supportive, or otherwise get bent out of shape over anything trivial. I usually indulge in this sort of crappy behaviour in private, but still... It goes back to resolution no. 1: Quality over quantity. I won't expend energy on anything negative. (I'll still have plenty of opinions, though, so no worries there! :P)
6. Actually complete some of my custom content WIPs that are pretty much ready to share but just sitting there gathering dust. Simple enough, right?
7. Post all the sims I've promised I'd share over the years. Those sims born-in-game or created by me that I've shown but never shared. Just package them and share them. Easy!
8. Consider branching out into Tumblr or Twitter or any of the other newfangled media people are using for simming these days. No promises here, because the old fogey in me still doesn't really see the need. But maybe I should give them a try?
What do you think? Comments? Helpful suggestions? Do you have any resolutions of your own? I'd love to hear them!

Date: 2012-01-02 10:20 pm (UTC)We're very excited about the baby. There's lots to be done before he/she gets here, though. We have a nursery to prepare! I wish decorating were as easy in real life as it is in the sims.

Date: 2012-01-02 03:37 am (UTC)I'd highly recommend Twitter; it's a great way to participate and communicate without taking up a lot of time. You can share those links and weird little thoughts without taking up a whole LJ entry. Tumblr is good for sharing pics, but there's not as much written communication as when you post pics on LJ.

Date: 2012-01-02 04:42 pm (UTC)And I don't think spreading hate would be a big problem for you either. I've seen your comments and you always have a kind word for everyone.
Am I the only one thinking "Meaty plot chapter" YUMMY! Even if I have to wait a while ;)
If I should have a Sim Resolution, that would of course be: "Continue the story about PV I started in June". Which is going to happen. Sometime during 2012.

Date: 2012-01-02 04:58 pm (UTC)Also I commend you on deciding to be a force of good. :) As well as being a positive thing in any case, both you and Simtopi are widely read and respected, so I hope your 'good' attitudes will have a positive influence on the community.
I wish you good luck on manifesting these points into reality!
