I got inspired this evening and wrote out a short story idea I've been mulling over for some time now. It's a stand-alone story about a premade that I haven't written about before, but it takes place in the same story universe as Strangetown, here we come. Now I'm trying to decide which direction I want to go in for the images. I might try something I haven't done before. Sort of abstract, perhaps? I think it'd suit the piece of writing, which is quite simple.

The sim in question doesn't come with a family, so I spent some time creating one for them. I don't know if I'm completely satisfied with them yet, but here's what I have so far:

Do you know which premade sim this old family snapshot belongs to?

*ding ding ding* We have a winner!

Why does it not surprise me that you were the one to guess it right? ;)

I was about to guess Jimmy, but it seems I was beaten to the punch. I was, of course, the one who got the answer about him on Formspring. ;D

Haha! I just went back there to check and sure enough — it's spelled out in one of my answers, isn't it? XD

I really like Jimmy Phoenix (and he seems to be one of those sims that is always referrred to by his full name). Like many uni sims, he's more of an empty shell than most sims, so people can really let their imaginations run wild.

I saw the curly hair and was ready to type "AJAY! <3", but then I read the comments. This is actually even cooler. Sometimes it seems that nobody really cares about the university premades, and many of them are very interesting. It's a shame.
I can't wait! :D

The university premades make a great supporting cast for stories, because they're so open to interpretation. I've seen them used in a lot of different and interesting ways, to great effect. They seem to develop the best fanon, too, because they're free of any real set storyline.

I'm a little surprised by Jimmy. I don't think I've seen anyone use him in a story at all, and he has that oh so interesting name (which was the jumping off point for me). But truth be told, he didn't jump out at me until I saw [livejournal.com profile] budgie_budgie's makeover of him to include that EA Store curly hair that he's wearing here. I was never a huge fan of that mesh but it suits Jimmy to a tee, and now I can't imagine him without it.

Poor Ajay. He's one sim I could never force myself to really care about. I play him, but I'm always left feeling so, "Ajay... Meh." No amount of curly hair and glasses and facial hair can change his mushy little face for me. :P

That's why I like them so much (that, and their genetics. So many unique faces! Ellen Frost may have one of my favorite faces in the entire game!).

Ajay is one of my favorite sims, precisely because he's a blank slate. He has no backstory and no family ties, yet as a Strangetown resident shows up frequently in stories; it's really interesting to see what other people do with him - no two Ajays are the same!

I love Ellen Frost's face, too. Have you seen her mouth on a male sim? It's intense.

I agree about the character of Ajay being interesting that way. He's not particularly interesting in and of himself (being a loner and all), but he works very well as a supporting character.

I just have an issue with his face. It's shallow of me, but at least I can be honest about it, right? :P

I love that sweet face coupled with her Beakerish personality :D Girl is fierce. I'll be going for the "5 top-level businessess" wish for the first time. If there's a sim ready to face that challenge, it's Ellie the sharkwoman.
(fun fact: ACR made her choose Ty Bubbler for her boyfriend, and I rejoiced. Can you imagine what their babies are going to look like? Happiest-looking sims in the hood :D)

Heh, that might explain our different attutides towards him. I think he's cute! :p

She'll probably end up much the same in my game. She seems to be taking a shine to Guy Wrightly, and his family comes from money, so she'll fit right in.

LOL at sharkwoman! The smile is just a trap. Beware! XD Or maybe she's just out to win friends and influence people?

It's the Face One baby face thing, for me. I'm not a big fan of it on male sims, and Ajay seems to be based off that template (with even chubbier cheeks, I think). I have the same issue with the Davis twins and the O'Mackey brothers, the Hot Blond Downtownie... the list goes one. The only one that I feel can carry it off is Castor Nova. I don't mind it on him.

Nope. Good guess, but it's actually the young man in the photo that's the premade. I created his sister.

I wouldn't have been able to guess this one! Jimmy Phoenix is one of those characters I never really got into. I do love it when people make families for the premade college sims, though. They look good!

I'm currently working on the parents of Roxie and Edwin Sharpe, who also happen to be related to someone in Riverblossom Hills...

I love Jimmy Phoenix too. It's his name that really got me interested. In my game he graduated, was abducted by aliens and had a little girl I named Rising, became a good warlock, and is living with a wonderful boyfriend, and through the power of boolprop they just had a daughter. I want him in all my neighborhoods with a different destiny. :)
