Work in Progress: Vampire Skintone

Here's an update on my vampire skintone, with some of the changes I mentioned (darker lips, and smaller, more blended red eye area). I'd love to have your feedback on it.

The effect is a little odd on aliens, because it gives them defined pupil and iris areas. At one point I was messing around with a half alien and half sim eye (for Jill Smith) and it ended up looking exactly like this (minus the red). What do you think of this? It's less than ideal for me, but so are alien vampires with regular sim eyes, so perhaps it's a step up from that? The chances of me having a sim alien vampire is pretty slim, so it doesn't really matter to me, but I'm curious to know how everyone else feels about.
Also, Stella is wearing makeup, so some of the rosey hue of her lipstick is making her lips look warmer than it would be by default.

Date: 2011-03-27 02:42 pm (UTC)The eyes are included with the skintone. Were you interested in the lips without the eyes? I could make a blank version, too. I'm already planning to make contacts and lip makeup based on this work, so I can throw in a few other variations, if there's any desire for them.

I'd definitely be interested in the eyes seperately :) It's really cool that you can see their original eyecolour through them.

Date: 2011-03-27 03:40 pm (UTC)EAxis got wiser when they made werewolves. They actually have a slightly different version for every skintone, including one with green fur and alien-ish eyes for the aliens. Oddly enough, they went back to one size fits all for the plantsims.
Thanks's for your input! ^_^ I'll definitely be breaking it up into separate pieces of cc for maximum usefulness for different people.

Date: 2011-03-27 05:14 pm (UTC)Alien vampire eyes... totally a step up from having a white sclera all of a sudden. But it does look a bit odd. I think the solution to alien vampires is, as you said, contact lenses (and the Phobia red alien eyes would be the ones I'd use, too).
I should say, I don't really play with vampires in my game. I've only had them if I rolled a challenge that requires them. So the opinions of people who DO play with vampires should be weighted over mine. :)

Date: 2011-03-27 06:59 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'm not a fan of the effect. When I tested out those half sim half alien eyes, I thought they looked creepy, and a little like snake eyes. If I were to ever have an alien vampire, I'd use contacts, for sure. And all my tinkering with the overlay will be in relation to regular sim eyes only.
Yeah, I'm the same way. The Tomato Legacy was my very first time playing with them, and also with zombies. The limitations do make things interesting, even if they're a bit of a pain! :P

Date: 2011-03-27 06:00 pm (UTC)I love the lip tint and the use of Phobia's eyes in general (I use her contacts for my vamps). I'd prefer a pale overlay than the blue to be honest :P . The blue makes me think of zombies... Maybe you should make a pale one as well :D ? Pretty please?
I am so looking forward to this (been searching for a good overlay for ages)!

Date: 2011-03-27 07:03 pm (UTC)I've been thinking about trying more of a pale overlay, but it would require extra work, since I'd have to alter the entre Maxis overlay (currently, this is just a face replacement — pretty simple). It is annoyingly close to the zombie skin, and it looks quite purple on S4 and turquoise on the aliens, as you can see above. Not really all that vampire-ish. :P
Thanks! I'm glad you'll be interested in using it. ^_^

Date: 2011-03-27 06:53 pm (UTC)The overlay looks pretty nice! I like how it looks on Rainelle (who has such an innocent, doll-like face that it is almost creepy that she's actually a dangerous creature).
I didn't know that alien vampires had regular red eyes, but considering that, what you have is an improvement by far. I also agree that the red alien phobia eyes would be perfect for a vampire, so I guess that could be fixed with contacts.

Date: 2011-03-27 07:05 pm (UTC)Yeah. That's basically my feelings on the matter now, so I'm not going to worry about it and will focus on the regular sim eyes instead. Thanks for the feedback!

Date: 2011-03-27 07:51 pm (UTC)The alien effect does look weird, but I think it's much better than the white sclera. In a very, very early legacy I did, one of my second gen spares married Stella Terrano, and she became a vampire at one point. The eyes really bothered me even then. :p But contacts is the best option, really.

Date: 2011-03-28 12:22 am (UTC)I like the effect you've made with the alien vamp eye, it sets them apart. Never noticed that alien vamps reverted to human eyes. Maybe because my last alien vamp was born with blue eyes.
When I first noticed your new banner I thought of Dr. Who's "Weeping Angels." Are you teasing us with some possible "Johnny" plot? It looks nice.

Date: 2011-03-28 02:45 am (UTC)(Half alien/half sim eye? That sounds interesting, although my first thought would be a white sclera with a big shiny black iris.)
I'm only playing two vampires (The Tricou son-in-laws, K1 and K2) but I haven't done much with them because my defaults are unsatisfactory. So I'd certainly be interested in these!
