CC Clutter

I have a long weekend ahead of me, and I wanted to contribute to the GoS monthly theme of clutter, so I'm looking for suggestions for some Maxis-match cc clutter. I'm not promising to make any of it (may as well be honest here), but I hope to get inspired by something. Care to help me out?
Is there anything that'd you'd love to have for your game?

Date: 2011-03-17 12:28 pm (UTC)What about bugs, like the roaches and flies? Have those ever been extracted? How cool would it be for storytellers/photo folks to have bugs they can put any old where? (which makes me wonder if it's already been done)
But are bugs really "clutter"?

Date: 2011-03-17 02:44 pm (UTC)I'm really liking this idea! I think it counts as clutter, given that it's purely visual interest, as skellington said. Also, it makes sense to have some to go along with the real clutter. These cluttered places do tend to attract more bugs.

Date: 2011-03-17 03:17 pm (UTC)Ok, now that I'm all thinking about bugs, it would be too funny to extract the little white "bad" bugs (from the plants) and put them around a sims head like they have a major lice infestation.

Date: 2011-03-19 02:11 pm (UTC)The lice infestation would be funny. It's really too bad the bugs can't be picked up as objects, so we could mess around with them like that.
To follow up, I attemped to use the cockroach texture on a floor overlay, and I don't think it turned out too great. Maybe I'll play aorund with a little more, though.

Date: 2011-03-17 03:05 pm (UTC)Either that or some of the clutter items from Sims 3 converted for TS2 use, that would be cool!

Date: 2011-03-19 02:19 pm (UTC)I was very into using Sims 3 extracted items when it first came out, but now I'm less excited about it, since I'm trying to limite new meshes and I figure the Sims 3 stuff is probably much higher poly. I think Clutter-a-holic has a number of items taken from that game.

Date: 2011-03-20 10:42 am (UTC)Will check out clutter-a-holic too. Now that I think about it I wonder if the TS3 extracted items will be TS2maxis match-y enough, if that makes sense.

Date: 2011-03-20 01:06 pm (UTC)That does make sense, and I don't actually think the two games actually match each other that well. I still think it's cool that people can make those items available for Sims 2, but I'm not very interested in using them. I think some of the textures and artwork match nicely, but not so much the sculptural stuff.

Date: 2011-03-17 03:39 pm (UTC)How about discarded clothing that doesn't look like just flat things on the floor? Like piles of clothing?. But that would get into meshing...
Heh, discarded boxers and panties. Those could even be flat, I wouldn't care. Singly and in pairs:
-boxers
-panties
-boxers + panties
-boxers + boxers
-panties + panties
They could be placed by a bed where sims are wooing. :D
Bonus points if they're your woohoo boxers!

Date: 2011-03-19 02:22 pm (UTC)The underwear on the floor would surely be useful. Something like the rug items from TSS, but less cartoon-like, perhaps? In theory, it would only be a matter of taking the textures from the clothing and then playing around in Photoshop, folding, adding shadows, wrinkles, etc. It's an idea, for sure.

Date: 2011-03-19 04:05 pm (UTC)Forget my idea of sets, though. If there was just one of boxers and one of panties, I'm sure they could be laid out on the floor in any combination with moveobjects. I wasn't using my headmeats yesterday.
This all reminds me, I don't even have TSS yet. I think that one, and the holiday pack, are the only ones I don't have... *eyes shelf of game boxes*

Date: 2011-03-17 06:52 pm (UTC)I'd like to have the clothes piles off the H&M table, some of the little tinkering items from the robot station; I'd like to break apart the little clutter piles EA gave us in FT, the soap dish that's on one of the tubs...let's see, what else...I have a list somewhere for when I finally learn how to do it (and there are many more than this list). :P I have been able to do a lot in my life, including complex equations and forays into cooking (haha!) and marriage, but I still have no idea how to even start breaking apart Maxis things and making new objects.

Date: 2011-03-19 02:24 pm (UTC)Those are all great ideas! I really hope you decide to get into mesh editing and share some of your content ideas with us. ^_^ Go for it! You can do it! *waves cheerleader pompoms*

Date: 2011-03-19 02:26 pm (UTC)I'd recommend checking out all the tutorials at GoS. There's more than likely something there that'd tell you how to go about doing it.
