CC Culling Update

I'm down to 2.59 GB! W00t!
Bodyshop only takes a minute or so to load. I don't need to have a book nearby to read while waiting for lots to load. It doesn't take 87645329 hours to load the first time I send a sim to "change appearance" each time I load the game. I don't need to scroll through pages of cc I will probably never use. I'm liking this!
It's not just a cc diet, it's a total cc lifestyle change. I've made some tough decisions, like severely limiting the amount of new meshes allowed in my game. I even have it down to just a couple of essential Holy Simoly items, rather than my previous completionist approach to HS. I'm trying to limit my cc hair to those I'll actually use on in-game sims, with an emphasis on characters (the others can be more generic). I'm even considering removing all my pretty geneticized Phobia eyes, going back to the basic Maxis set (defaulted, of course), plus a handful of contacts for character purposes. I figure I can always put them back in if I miss the variety.
Maybe I'll finally getting around to posting a resource page now. You know it'll truly be my "best of the best" choices.

Date: 2010-11-17 09:18 pm (UTC)I've just loaded the game on my new laptop (used it as a carrot to get some organising done) and I'm trying to limit myself going nuts with the CC. And then I look at fakepeeps' stuff and think 'Aw, Beau would look sooo good in that...' *facepalm*
I look forward to your resources page -- it will be the best of the best.

Date: 2010-11-19 01:01 am (UTC)I'm not sure a simplified Maxis Match game with make for a fascinating resource post, but it's the least I can do. I've learned so much from other people's resource lists.

Date: 2010-11-19 01:04 am (UTC)Plants and garden stuff was major weakness of mine, too. I'm trying to limit it to recolours of Maxis meshes and just a few custom meshes (some based on in-game stuff, extractions, etc.). But I used to have all kinds of crazy things from Castway Stories that had animations and everything, so it's a huge improvement.

Date: 2010-11-18 06:08 pm (UTC)Maybe I'll get ambitious and export all of them when I'm down, package them, move my downloads folder, unpackage them and keep only the CC that I know is already in use.
Or maybe I'll continue to be lazy. :D
How big did your cache run before the cull?
