I finally finished off my GoS Secret Santa gift and sent it off. It was a little late, but I notified my giftee and they were very nice about it. I kept running into snags (I started over one of the items about a billions times! *mild exaggeration*) and finding flaws in the work. It was fun to be involved, but I also found it pretty stressful, wondering if I was creating enough, if the person would really like it, and if it was well made. In the end, I was happy enough with it. I hope my giftee feels the same way.
I'd also to thank the person who posted the nice simsecret about Strangetown, Here We Come this week. It's very heartening to hear that people are still interested and waiting to read more, even after such a long gap in posting. Now that I've gotten my frantic cc creation clued up, I can continue with my work on the next post. Thanks to everyone who has been reading the story in the meantime!

I'll leave you with this sneak peak of a scene from the next installment.

Date: 2010-08-22 02:27 am (UTC)Aww, thanks! That's nice of you to say. I'm still pretty much a newb at cc creation, though, so I worry abou keeping pace with everyone else there. And then there's perfectionism, the enemy of "good enough" and actually getting things done. It was great to have this deadline to live up to, in some ways, because I actually struggled through it instead of abandoning it halfway (like I usually do).
I'll post a link here on the journal if they decide to share it.

Date: 2010-08-22 02:51 am (UTC)"If it's not done perfectly, it not worth doing" isn't a bad attitude to have; it pushes us to do better. But don't beat yourself up, either. You rock too much for that! :)
I feel you about having a deadline. I'm not usually a fan of them because they stress me out, but sometime I need one to force myself to get stuff done.

Date: 2010-08-22 12:07 pm (UTC)In moderation, it can help us to improve, for sure. I'm really trying to temper it and work with it, these days. In the worst case scenario, it can prevent someone from doing anything at all for fear that it'll never live up to their own expectations (mostly their own, since the expectations of other are rarely as precise or harsh).
Deadlines can be good. Stressful, maybe, but they push you to get things done.
