Bella Returns - a short story

Every now and then I get the urge to write a short one-shot story, and this is one of those times. Here's one that follows Bella Goth as she returns home after her visit to a very strange town.
Bella stood, frozen in place, looking down the pathway to the manor before her.
After all she had gone through to get here, she was finally home.
She told herself to move, to walk forward and go in, but she hesitated. How would they react to seeing her? Had they changed in her absence?
She suddenly realized that it was freezing out, so she'd better make a move or she'd be frozen in more ways than one. Why hadn't she worn a coat? It was nice to have a signature outfit, but it wasn't always the most practical option.
Had she walked all this way? Or had she taken a cab? Obviously, it would be a while before her memory fully recovered.
Finally, she pushed these thoughts aside and entered through the front door.
She walked up the familiar flight of stairs.
Familiar... yet somehow not. It seemed backwards to her, but, again, this was probably a side effect of having her memories lost for so long.
Then she entered the bedroom.
Mortimer had really let the place slide without her there for guidance. How could he have thought that carpet was a good idea?
There was nobody home, so she assumed that Mortimer must be working late that night. She settled in, reaching into her purse to retrieve the little present she'd brought for him. If he wasn't here, then she'd just have to have it ready to surprise him when he returned home.
She settled in and waited.
Soon, she heard the front door open. Someone began walking up the stairs.
He entered the bedroom.
"What the —," said Morty Roth.
It had been a very long time since Bella had seen her husband, and she was ready and waiting for him.
A woman has needs, afterall.
"What in the name of Will Wright..."
"Do you like it, Morty?" she asked.
"What... What is the meaning of this?"
"Oh, right... I'll explain everything in a minute, but first let me take off that jacket for you..." She reached out with the intention of disrobing him.
"Now you just wait a minute!"
"But Morty —"
"Don't you Morty me! How do you even know my name?! Who are you and why are you in my bedroom? And where is my wife?!"
"I am," she said. "I'm your wife, Mortimer."
"Ah-ha! You see? You're not my wife! That's not even my name! I'm Mort-mer, not Mort-i-mer! Mortmer Roth!"
"Huh?"
"Lady, you have the wrong house!"
She suddenly realized that someone had played a very cruel joke on her.
She should have known better than to trust anyone in a place called Strangetown.

I really love his face, reacting to her, like at first he's so shocked he's almost laughing, then repulsed, then really angry. Well done.
