I'm curious. Is there anything that you're very consistent about in your sim world? I'm also curious to know why.

I really do always add a compost bin right next to the outdoor garbage can, and I use the hack that directs service sims to use it. I'm a dedicated composter in real life, so my sim world has my ideal scenario of curbside compost pickup (which is not something we have in my municipality, but one can dream).

I try to send every single one of my sims to Uni, unless they're a CAS sim. I hate seeing, "Did not go to Uni" in the memories box, it makes me sad, even though it's little pixelated people. I DON'T KNOW. I also find Uni really enjoyable to play as well (even though I haven't played sims in...it's been so long I won't even admit it.)

I also put a compost bin in every front yard, even if the family doesn't have a garden. It's probably since I wish we had a compost bin.

Another thing I always do is name twins in alphabetical order. Whoever was born first gets the letter closer to the beginning. I like having them in order by age on the side bar, but if Sims are the same number of days old it'll order them by name, so twins must be named so they show in the right order. It bothers me soooo much if they're not.

Almost everyone composts in my hood! :) I don't compost IRL, but I used to.

Other than that, most of my sims have some sort of a garden. I have one, and have had one since I was seven - strange, considering I don't compost! :)

They always have trash compactors and dishwashers. Once they can afford them, anyway.

I'm with you on the trash compactor. It reminds me of my maternal grandparents (who are the only people I've ever known who had a trash compactor).

Once I got AL, everyone started getting that wall mounted trash shoot. Love that thing.

Can you use that on regular residential lots? I had no idea!

This post has been very informative for me. We all need to chat more about the game, it seems. I still have so much to learn.

Heck yeah.

I'm just now getting over my addiction to it (and going back to the trash compactor).

Windkeeper's mailbox cover with a little shelf to put the bills on! EVERYONE must have one. Even hermit plantsims living out in a cabin in the woods. I really hate it when they trek to a kid's room upstairs to put it on a free desk or something. Or hide it somewhere so I can't find it. Less of a problem after I got Pescado's 'pay bills' macro and also the 'pay all bills' option on the mailbox which came with FT or AL, but still, that shelf is awesome.

whaaa-aaaat? Why have I never heard of this before?

I usually stay poised to cancel their interaction after they get the mail in hand. This seems much easier! ^_^

Ha. :) It's pretty great. I think Pescado has a behaviour-edited version of the mesh, but you'll need the textures from Windkeeper.

I'm a fan of the compost too. But I always put it at the back of the lot (since to me it's "stinky" even though well done compost isn't).

I'm obsessive with homework. Even in my BACC neighborhoods where I don't even have a uni installed, all brats do homework. ALWAYS. It's like I'm punishing youth.

In my game, college ALWAYS costs money. I adjust the exact amount between households, or in specific challenges, but I always charge 'em. 10,000 is the usual amount.

I need plants and gardens without fail. Put on moveobjects and snapobjectstogrid false and go crazy. I love 3d spaces full of virtual vegetation.

Also - Maybe this has blinkered my play of the sims2, but I tend to refrain from having those objects that wouldn't fit in with everyday life...so no suburban home disco spin balls for me. How sad that Zelda Brodie is missing out on the full spectrum of sim experiences! LOLOLOLL!L!111!

Any family with an alien kid, either by way of adoption or abduction automatically gets a monetary donation for either helping the alien race or being adoptive parents.

Also even if there is only one kid in the household, one of the aspirations for the parent(s) has to be family or no kids at all.

Each of my families ALWAYS has a pregnant female pet. As soon as puppies/kittens are born I grow them up and get their mother pregnant again. Playing family without a pregnant pet seems for me like wasting time, cause it's SO INTERESTING for me how will look all those new-breeded pets))

Like [livejournal.com profile] pnkpnthr334, all multiples are given names alphabetically -- it helps me remember who they are, especially if their family is prone to multiple births.

All my sims must go to uni (unless there's a reason why they can't such as teen parenthood). I have got the uni-from-home mod which will be used for some of the more academically-minded sims who otherwise wouldn't be able to go to university.

99.9 percent of the time, I'll have a piano in the house along with other musical items. This is because I play piano and guitar, so my sims must have music. Always. :)

Yup, I do the compost bin too. But where do I get the hack that directs the service sims to use it?

Because my first knowledge of legacies were the alphabetical variety, I seem to be stuck naming the first gen with A's, second with B's, etc. But I'm trying (not all too successfully) to break that habit. In part cause it's getting old, and too because there's lots of other names out there.

I've begun to make sure that all end tables have deco items on them so that the mail can't be put on them. And I got those one square desks that HugeLunatic made to match the IKEA stuff, so they can't put mail on them when there's a computer there. But now I've got to double check the ground around the mailbox.

Every house has a chess table & parents are to bond with their children while "teaching" them life skills & strategy through chess.
My compost bin is always against the side of the house in the "shade" & the garden is rarely far. Or I have multiple compost bins.
All born in game sims go to uni if they roll the want for it - if they don't roll the want for it why should they be forced to go?? If they roll a want for a course, they get that one - regardless of if it helps their LTW.

I always use InSim to 1. turn off relationship decay so I don't get eleventy billion "why aren't we friends anymoreeeee" calls, 2. auto-pay bills, 3. reroll impossible LTWs that I never could accomplish. I also use the controlpets and petactioncancel cheats. Since I got Seasons, every house has to have a pond for fishing, some kind of garden, a compost bin, and a tree for leaves to compost.

I have a lot of Adult/Teen romances, but that's because I use the Independent Teen stage to represent short adults. Because it annoys me that all Sims are the same height, plus in real life teens aren't that short.

I try to change my playable sims' clothes (at least everyday clothes) every day. I don't like to think of them wearing dirty clothes! I'm probably obsessed about this, but I like my game to be as realistic as possible.

As for other things I always do - I use all custom music in my game, and I don't let them listen to any of the Maxis music. I don't like hearing gibberish instead of actual lyrics. I use the auto bill-payer, I usually give my sims a pet (or at least a fishtank), and I try to give my sims a distinct dress sense and taste in decorating, music, and food.

When a sim family I'm playing has kids, I always make one a family sim. I think it's because I like to play houses with babies or toddlers the most, and family sims get a plus for that. At least, I think they do.
