Been thinking about moving forward with Strangetown, here we come, and I think it might be in my best interest to skip what I've been referring to (at least in my own mind) as "the Veronaville chapter." It's sort of an aside, but one I was personally interested in taking at the time. Now, I'm not so sure. Skipping it would still leave an opening to do it later (even if in a sort of goofy "So what exactly did you do in Veronaville, Vidcund?" *cue flashback* sort of lead-in — but hey, nobody ever said this wouldn't be ham-fisted). Or, if I'm not feeling it, I can just refer to the essentials and let the rest drop (though I'll probably get around to it after I get my groove back, methinks).
I just think a trip to the Smith household might be the right thing to do right now. I think I could get my head back into that story again, and the dynamics of that family. Might just drop by there later and take some pics, then work on the text, the way I used to, at least for the bits I haven't already worked out.
Or I might just spend the night watching more Lost instead. The SO and I finally obtained the first season (from the LIBRARY! Boooyeah!), and we're having fun with it. Oh, and please don't spoil, okay? I want to continue my streak of managing to remain unspoiled about things far longer than I should. I watched The Sixth Sense for the first time almost five years after it was released and I was still surprised by the twist ending! I'm not sure how I managed that one, to be honest, but that's one of the benefits of living in a cave, perhaps? :P

Date: 2010-02-17 10:18 pm (UTC)If you do want to go back to the Smith Household, then that big Dramatic ending which you had of Johnny would bring you back to the Mainland in terms of the Story's Center, but if this Veronaville chapter needs to be now so you can refer to it in the not-so-far future, then it could make more sense to go for it now so its not an awkward (or cheesy) part later.
S,HWC > Lost

Date: 2010-02-17 10:46 pm (UTC)And hey, you say cheesy like it's a bad thing! I love cheese. (True story.)
Heheheh. Yer silly. ^_^ (And hey, maybe I could rip off one of those patented Lost "I feel a flashback coming on" moments for the Veronaville chapter. Could be an idea...)

Date: 2010-02-17 11:32 pm (UTC)You need to look at that Chapter and think that it's the coolest part yet, and the best way of taking the story which you just KNOW everyone will love to read. As you wright it you look back and think to yourself that there is room for some Inside jokes, or Easter Eggs to be used! You gotta look at the thing *without* anything else - more like a Dabble. A long, Personal and Unique, story-flowing, Drabble.
I say Cheesy like the same way I say Photoskinned. TRUFAXLOLOL. xD
*Totally had Philladelphia today*
URGHHHH~!
The Dreaded Flashbacks are SO annoying! I personally like the ones which start almost unrelated, and then slowly more and more of the events make sense and you feel like a detective when you worked it out for youself - and then through Dramatic Irony kinda know what is going to happen next.
The Big *Blurs into Seemingly realistic Long Memory scene with exessive details* flashbacks are more like DREAMS in my eyes, because NOONE remembers everything like that, Or can Narrate like that, really.. But I am fine with Narrative because it feels like it's something important that has to be shared, so the great super-memory thing is OK as you normally remember important things like that.
"OH GOSH GUYZ, I'M STARTING TO FADE OUT INTO FLASHBACK! Sorry, but you lot are all gonna be frozen while I think about an event which happened to me some time ago which could be relevent..."
[iPhone-written, so I bet there are Typos to be found, SORRY! :)]

Date: 2010-02-18 12:55 am (UTC)I love getting shows that have plenty of episodes already so I can watch them non-stop for a while, like catching up with SHWC. ;)

Date: 2010-02-18 12:57 am (UTC)While I really enjoy your writing of the JRO, you did leave the cliffhanger of Johnny sitting on the front porch and Jayne going over to talk to him. So, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens...
I'm curious about the Vid and Bo Summerdream story. You've hinted at a possible romance between them, at least I interpreted there to be one. And I would like to see if Vid could possibly have a relationship as an equal instead of being manipulated by the Strangetown females.
Would what Vid does in Veronaville have any bearing on the events that are to occur back in Strangetown? You know, like cause and effect; the chicken and the egg; etc...?
Can't spoil Lost for you, never watched it.
If my suggestions are not to your liking, please disregard, sorry to have bothered you. Anyway look forward to your next update.

Have fun watching Lost, I also avoid spoilers but recently I was reading a website on the public's certain character reception and it spoiled it w/like no warning >_> boo.

Date: 2010-03-22 12:18 am (UTC)And I agree with anon. Don't let the boring bits in season 2 slow you down- they build up to the later seasons and it's all worth it in the end. Oh and BTW, you must watch the 'Mysteries of the Universe' segment on the season 5 bonus features, because it is epic.
Lordy do I have a lot of journal entries to catch up on! Damn you, SATs!
