The Search for Nervous Subject's Clone
Aug. 18th, 2009 04:50 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I'd post this to
wcif_sims, but I've already posted once today, so I thought I'd ask here (though I'll post there tommorrow if this doesn't work out). I'm looking for an extracted version of the Nervous Subject "clone" found in the data of Strangetown. He's one of those unlinked dead characters, so I'm also open to advice on how to extract him myself. I have no idea, and I'm a bit wary of messing around with SimPE.

As someone who's already using the idea of cloning Nervous in a story, you can see how I'd like to use him in a wink and nod sort of way, right?

Date: 2009-08-18 08:34 pm (UTC)I found him in SimPE too, but I didn't know what to do to unlock him. I'm sure there must be a way, though, since someone has even extracted the Default PT from the game.

Date: 2009-08-18 08:26 pm (UTC)That's probably exactly why he's in the game as a dead character. Instead of reviving him, they simply made another Nervous (a cuter one, in my opinion).
Pretty cool, huh?
I'd be very happy if you could extract him. How do you go about extracting those unlinked sims, anyway?

Date: 2009-08-18 08:55 pm (UTC)The problem now is that, unfortunately, I just noticed Nervous' clone is not only 'unlinked', but also says 'No character File' and for I understand that means exactly that. There's no file for the character. He's only an image.
I'll try a bit more, but not sure if it can be done in any way.(at least not that I know of). Maybe try recreating him, by using the image? He looks a lot like Nervous after all.

Date: 2009-08-18 09:20 pm (UTC)I remembered there was a 'unlinked' something in one of the tabs, but couldn't find it. Now I see it. Is on Other/Misc/Unlinked it say 0x0000 for unlinked characters should be 0x0001?? (and in matter of fact I think I learned that from you, in the first place, but soo long ago!! lol)
But with 'no character file', there's no actual info to extract (for what I understand, at least)

Date: 2009-08-18 09:40 pm (UTC)Thank you for looking into it! I really appreciate it. ^_^
I suppose I could recreate him. I did that with Nina and Dina's alien grandfather. I'm not sure if he's extractable at all, but I figured I'd just recreate him at the time, and tweek him to my liking. I prefer doing that with family tree sims most of the time anyway, since they're known for being straight template faces, who don't resemble their families at all (Lyla Grunt is a good example, since her face two has nothing in common with the Grunts, and she also has missing data, if I remember correctly).

Date: 2009-08-18 09:01 pm (UTC)I've no idea how to extract him or the other character files like him, though. Their character files are broken and incomplete, that's why they can't be cloned normally and can't be summoned ingame. I suspect you'd have to add in whatever's missing to make them work, though I don't know if that's even possible.
The base game neighbourhoods all look like they've gone through some serious modification before the release. Besides the clone of Nervous and several characters in PV (Skip Broke, Darleen Dreamer, Michael Bachelor), there's a whole lot of garbage files floating around, like wants & fears and relationships for deleted characters. Also, I found some broken relationship links that set Lucy Burb as someone "high up" in the Goth family tree (aunt of Mortimer or something silly like that), and some other stuff like that as well.

Date: 2009-08-18 10:04 pm (UTC)Hmmm, well maybe it's not possible. He probably would've been extracted by someone now if it was possible.
Yeah, I know there's a lot of "junk" floating around in there, and it makes the hoods sort of unstable, but I like when they're sort of interesting mysteries like the Nervous clone here.
I'm seriously laughing at Lucy in the Goth family tree, though. That's a pretty big wtf.

Date: 2009-08-18 08:28 pm (UTC)But, maybe... you might be right. He could be Olive's biological son. I've always assumed Nervous was completely CAS and not really linked to Olive at all, given the genetics, but that doesn't explain Olive's memory of having him. Then again, there's NO explanation for the "woohooed with the grim reaper" memory.

Date: 2009-08-18 08:49 pm (UTC)I think Real!Nervous was made in CAS too - but maybe they used the "Create Children" part of CAS to get some results and then just had a bit of fun, then assigned Nerv. as Olive's and Grimmies' Son? Its more than possible - because I truly think Maxis would have wanted to take the easier option of just making a new Memory and not wanted to add MORE curfuffle of Olive and everything else.
Has anyone tried seeing if Grim sees Nervous as his own son? Maybe there is a hidden GrimReaper which is just a sim with the Cloak unhidden using the Debug mode in CAS?
OH THE MYSTERIES!

Date: 2009-08-18 09:29 pm (UTC)How is it impossible for them not to have played out the memories in Veronaville? I'm not so up on that hood. I kind of liked the idea that they were killing them off in-game, since I'm doing it much the same way as I play V'ville.
