I think I've found an eye replacement that really speaks to me: this one by Rockermonkey at MATY. I've been playing around with different replacements (and anything is better than the completely flat default eyes), but these might stick around for a while. Don't you love how it's just one texture now and you can recolour it yourself in-game, to the exact hue you want? It's brilliant. Maybe even better than picking shoes to go with an outfit. You have no idea how many totally useable cc outfits I've passed on because of shoe choice. I'm serious about shoes.

Cute old geezer, isn't he?

I've also found these default replacements for the facial hair from Kitty Klan (shown above), which was something that was desperately needed. The default facial hair options were simply dreadful. It looked like iron filings glued to the sim's face. Granted, some guys actually have that, but it was a bit heavy-handed for what is essentially a cartoon face, don't you think?

As a sidenote, I'm still playing around with cc creation and some other things, but I'm working way too much these days. I have no idea when I'll have them ready to share. I hope everyone is having a nice summer!

I love those eyes. I found a delicious resource post for TS3, but I haven't even been playing, so...

old!Ts3!Ripp looks so good though. *pets*

I was actually about to say that I like them because they look so much like your eye set :D

Aww, thank you! I didn't make the eyes, I just moved them to a different sclera. But still! They're gorgeous.

Adding that sclera was important, okay? I thank you for it a thousand times over, Josh! ^_^

Yes, the scleras are the most important component. Down with black bits o' doom!

They do resemble the Phobia eyes a little, which is why I like them so.

Oooh, where is it? I found these from a "best finds" post on GoS, which is useful for finding downloads from smaller sites.

I haven't been able to play in a while either. It saddens me.

Well, I think he's super adorable, but you know how biased I am. :P I gave him reading glasses too. I think I actually like him better as an old man, to be honest.

Here it is, soul.

It doesn't sadden me. I've really been itching to play The Sims 2 though, and I haven't. I think I'm going to play this weekend.

Awwwww. I think Ripp is so cute, but I'm not all that into him, if you know what I mean. :P

Thank you! ^_^

No? Are you tired of it? I had a little second wind of enthusiasm there, but it's still not thrilling me in the way I'd like it to.

I haven't had much time for Sims 2, either. That adds to my saddening.

Heehee. Whatever could you mean? :P I know. You're more of a Tank guy, am I right?

No problem! It was done by the fabulous Mao, I found it on her site.

Yes, I am. I expected to be completely obsessed with it, like I was then TS2 came out- but I'm not. I'm not interested at all. :\

I know! It sucks that you've been working so much! But at least you're making money, right?

YESSS. Tank is my type. I seem to have acquired a thing for military/ex military hunky muscular men with short tempers. (See: Tank Grunt, Elliot Stabler, Seeley Booth.)

That's disapointing. I wonder if EPs will make it better. We'll just have to stay obsessed with Sims 2, I guess. It does seem like many people are hanging on, anyway, which is nice to see.

I'm working SO MUCH. Day and night. Thankfully, my day job breaks for the weekend, but not so my part-time job. It's super busy in the summer. At least it's fairly entertaining most of the time. (And yes, money is good... and needed.)

Hmmm. I'm not sure which would be a worse choice for an rl man, Ripp or Tank? I've had experiences with guys who were something like both of them, and neither ended very well. That's why I went with Buck. ;) (Well, a skinny version, anyway.)

From: [identity profile] smjosh1218.livejournal.com
*nods* I just don't know if it counts as being obsessed when we don't even play anymore. :P

Well, at least it won't be so busy after the summer rush? You must be so tired. :(

I would ever date Ripp, firstly. Have you met me? I'm way too serious and practical for that kind of freshness. He would only hurt me in the end.

But dating Tank would be so painful because you know he's so closed off and he doesn't open up to anyone and getting him to talk about anything is impossible so I would walk away as well.

I think I'd end up with someone like Buck in the end as well. I would like having someone down to earth and sensible, like me.

ah, things are picking up in the sims 3, people making hair and skins and whatnot. I just wish we had been able to make our own hoods from scratch. I am bored with the two available hoods.

Yeah, that's a shame. I wonder if they'll ever give us that option? I suspect they'll add new hoods with EPs, but there should be some option to make a custom one.

Date: 2009-07-25 02:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] smjosh1218.livejournal.com
TBH I wouldn't want to make my own hood. I'm lazy and it would be ugly and boring if I did it. I have no decorating skills. I'm not exactly happy with SV and RV but I'm not chomping at the bit to have a new hood, you know? I'm not big on complete customization. I just take things given to me, like premade hoods and premade families.

Oh, me too, for sure, but it sucks that the option isn't there anymore. A lot of people do like making completely custom hoods.

And now that I can't, I'll probably want to. :P

That's my same exact stance on building houses. I spend enough time just waiting for houses, CAS, etc. to load.

From: [identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com
It takes me hours and hours to decorate a house, or even just one room, so I can't imagine making a completely custom hood, and I've only ever built a handful of houses from scratch. I usually try to find something close enough to what I want and then edit/redecorate it. It's the lazy way.

From: [identity profile] smjosh1218.livejournal.com
Oh my goodness, me too. I think we talked about this before- we try to find things that match the decorating taste of the Sims personalities, so we know what "fits" and what doesn't, right? Ugh, I hate decorating if only because it takes forever.

I do enjoy it, in a sense, and I love having it all decorated appropriately, but I get so lost in it and lose track of time. It takes forever.

It think we did talk about it before. We can't help it if we get sucked into things, right? We're just sensitive. :P

I know! Because this poster doesn't fit, this one does, this Sim would never own something this ugly, etc. I get so caught up in it.

That we are. It's a blessing and a curse.

I've got one custom hood where all of the houses are either downloaded or from EPs, and another hood (a recreation of the TS1 hood) that came with a bunch of houses. Both have at least one exception, I think, but only when I moved in families into empty lots and all of them were legacies that never really took off. A few other hoods have been downloaded completely (including my megahood <3). There are some other hoods in my computer made by siblings, and that's about it. I deleted all of the original hoods because I heard I'm not supposed to have the original Pleasantview with my megahood, so I just got rid of all of them (and besides I moved all of the families that came with them to a custom hood).

And I took a decent house and redid what I didn't like here. Mostly I when I take a premade house I make sure to, at least, update it if it doesn't have content from recent EPs/SPs.

That facial hair replacement is absolutely fantastic. *bookmarks for later* The "real" facial hair I can deal with, but the stubble looks like dirt. :( Aaand, I can't tell for sure, but do her sideburns lineup with the hairline? Because I will love her forever if this is so.

Lookin' super cute there, Ripp. <3

(If nothing else, I do love being able to recolor everything. No more passing up great meshes because the colors are gross! :D)

Those sideburns DO seem to line up! They definitely did NOT before. That's awesome.

<3

I totally agree. I love how it's just meshes and patterns now. With any shoes I want! It eliminates so many minor hassles with cc, though it does take some time to actually customize things. I don't always bother, but I'd be great if I was doing a story.
