I've been working on some recolours to create a wall of posters for a scene that takes place in Sim City in a little short thing I'm working on (yeah, I got a bit blocked by the next update, so I needed a diversion). I'll probably post that later this evening, but here's a little preview of the poster wall.

See anything you recognize?

There are a couple of [livejournal.com profile] simgaroop's posters in there, and some other downloads (and one from the game), but there are seven new creations there too.

Nice.

I hear that viral marketing is very effective.

You used "viral" when refering to marketing porn.

I'm grossed out and loving it all at once.

[livejournal.com profile] sims_anon is the gift that keeps on giving.

Tell your friends.

(We've had a very good turn-out so far. Lots of good writing too. Who knew there were so many talented smut writers out there? Plenty of non-smutty/fluff stuff too. I'm pleased with it.)

From: [identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com
I agree, good stuff over at the anon.

(I've been very prolific, too--writing is fun, smut or no smut)

Yeah, and the best part of all? No egos whatsoever! Just anons thanking anons. It's a joy to go there.

(Yeah, I may have done one or two myself. Heheheh. And I agree, smut or no smut, it's all good to me. Don't forget to make requests if you think of something good.)

Date: 2009-06-15 03:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com
Oh, I've made a few requests but no one's bit yet.

(ok, sad confession--I'm tempted to make a "fake" request just so I can show off some old smut I've had laying around but was too shy to share--sad and pathetic is what that is)

The anon thing drives my nosey side WILD. I want to KNOW (but not knowing is so fun, too). *goes insane*

There's a LOT of quality there, too. Really? No duds at all (requests or stories).

Yeah, it seems like some of them might take a while to be filled. Some of the newer posts get filled almost immediately in a rush of creativity, but it might take a while for someone to go back to the earlier ones. I hope they all get filled eventually.

(I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm sure other people would do it. I mean, why not? It's anonymous. I say go for it.)

Heheh. You're not the only one. I have my theories on some people, but I really don't know for sure, and that's fun. *goes insane too*

The real beauty of it is how we don't have any preconceived notions preventing us from reading something. I'll bet there are plenty of people reading things by people they skim past or even actively avoid. And they're ENJOYING it.

Smut meme brings peace and prosperity to the sims comm. *snicker* It's beautiful.

I know. I'm pretty well blown away all around. The quality is impressive, I think. We should all be very proud.

Slightly off topic.

I've had some of the BEST confirmation words when posting on sims anon.

69 made me snort along with "bound" and a few others.

I'm pretty sure I had "rimming" one time, but maybe it was just enough like it to make my brain do the rest.

You don't have to answer, but... I was curious about how many you've done. I think I can spot your work 9 chances out of 10 (based on the way you use punctuation and a couple of key pet phrases - you can probably spot me for the same reasons), and you seem to have done quite a few of them.

I went back and counted and I have 8 stories there.

Yeah, my writing is easy to spot once you've read two or three of my things. I love elipses in dialogue and starting sentences with "ing" verbs. (and I make the same spelling and puctuation errors a lot--possessive on a word ending in 's', yeah, I just can't do that right all the time).

(and I can kind of spot your writing, and--I think--beyondheroism's, too)

(and for what it's worth, I started mentally penning number 9 while on the bus this morning)

8?! That was more than I had you pegged for (*snicker* pegged...), but it pretty well confirms all the ones I've suspected of you. I guess that explains where "all the good writers" are coming from.

You've answered a couple of my prompts, though I suspect you already know that. ;)

I would have mentioned the telltale double dash--like this--and any reference to someone "snorting laughter." That always gives you up for me. And I'm sure I'm equally obvious for countless, countless reasons, and I'm probably less self-aware of them than you are.

We should make efforts to cover our tracks better. I want it to be more anon. Probably not possible, especially with me asking you about it like this (like an idiot), but I think I'd like it better.

Date: 2009-06-16 01:18 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com
I'd love for you to guess the ones that are mine (PM me). Some are so obvious a blind person would roll their eyes. (jesus, I'm such an attention whore--disgusting!)

How many of your prompts did I answer (yeah, it'll give it away for me so you don't have to answer if you don't want).

Ok, that cinches it for me. The next offering I put up (yeah, still mentally penning) I'm going to try and not be so "me" in it (and it's going to finally be really DIRTY).

(and "snorting laughter" is so a self insert for me--I totally snort all the time when I laugh)

Hmmm, maybe I will PM you, if I want to actually confirm it (and I'm not sure - a part of my really doesn't).

I think you must know at least one of my prompts that you filled. Even anonymously, it's like a microcosm of our online relationship. Being me, I've overthought it, of course.

(Yeah, even the part about me reading into it... it's "us" in a nutshell, for what it's worth.)

Hi, I've been a long time lurker, and

That sounded stalkery. Let me try again.

I love your take on the Maxis-mades. I found your stories during a wonderfully unproductive day at work, and I've been hooked ever since. I can honestly say your series is the first I've ever been exposed to "triangulation of desire", and you portray it so well. Hell, the constant penis jokes y ou make make me love the stories more.

Anyway, I just saw THIS STORY (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,526491,00.html) and immediately thought of you. Maybe you could make a spoof ad/poster featuring JRO? :D

Anyway, can't wait for your next update! *returns to hiding*

Well, hi there, lurker! It's nice to meet you. ^_^ (I love your username, by the way!)

Awww, thanks. I'm glad you like them and have enjoyed the story. And thank you for making the effort to say so. That really means a lot to me right now.

Heheh. I remember reading about that ad. That would make a funny spoof. A whole line CK ads would be very funny.

I hope the next update will come together soon. I have bits and pieces ready, but it's not much of a coherent whole yet.

Thanks for reading!

I'm probably wrong here, but the poster with the turtle and the Earth . . . that's not a Stephen King reference, is it?

Hmmm, I don't know. What's the reference?

I'm not even sure where that download came from anymore, to be honest. I should look into it.

It's probably a coincidence then, but a few of Stephen King's books, including It (the one with the creepy clown) and The Dark Tower series, mention a nursery rhyme about a giant turtle that holds the Earth on its shell.

I love it! Am assuming this requires Apartment Life, with their feature to move multiple things up and down walls, so I won't be able to download but I can appreciate! I love how some of the posters are meta, some are just average poster stuff (poor lost kitty!) and all of them are in Simlish!

ext_122042: (Default)
From: [identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com
Moving the walls up and down would require AL, yes, but I wouldn't put the lot up for download anyway, since it's not my design. I could share the posters themselves, though, if anyone's interested in that.

Thanks. ^_^ I was having funny with the mix of meta-ness and game universe.

Date: 2009-06-16 07:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tanathir.livejournal.com
I like when storytellers create a Sim universe that's not quite like the real world, i.e. it has its own science and realities such as aliens, and who can leave out the cowplant! I has the unashamed love for the cowplant (I name all of mine Audrey). There's so much to go with that's not exactly like our own real world. And the meta makes me smile. :)

Meta example I just have to share:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Star (redhead, seated) has a crush on movie star Tim Broke, who incidentally I downloaded and put in the same neighborhood and renamed. Valerie (standing, viewing picture) I imagine is saying, "He looks just like Mr. Starchild..."

:D

Anyway, I would love to have some of those posters for my own game, so whenever you feel ready to upload them I'll totally be there with my clicky finger.
