"So how did you enjoy the show?"

"It was... what it was."

"Oh, here we go again. What was wrong with it THIS time?"

"Nothing. It was just a magic show. What else is there to say about it?

"Don't tell me you don't like magic! Everyone loves magic, Fran."

"Yes, like pirates. There's just no accounting for taste."

"Oh, please. What's wrong with magic? That stuff was really impressive."

"It's moronic. There's an obvious trick to it all, but people still ooh and ahh like it's amazing."

"It IS amazing."

"Well, they don't have to play it up as some sort of spiritual thing. The power of attraction - what a crock."

"Oh boohooHOO, Franny. Just because someone actually believes in something instead of crying about how God is dead all day..."

"Are you making fun of me?!"

"What do you think?"

"I think you've had too much sugar. It's past your bedtime."

"Yeah, sure. Get snotty with me."

"And for your information, I don't cry about it. I just don't believe in fairytales... or magic."

"Okay, fine. So you didn't like it. But why not just say that instead of insulting everyone that does like it?"

"You asked me for my opinion, Beau. And my opinion is that magic is for -"

"What's that? I didn't catch it."

"Oh, nothing."

"Rubes. You were going to say rubes, weren't you? I can read your lips."

"Oh, can you? Then bring your lips over here and read this."

"You want to kiss a rube?"

"Are you a rube?"

"I'm a lot of things."

"You said it."

"I'm an magician too, you know. I can make your pants disappear."

"We'll see about that."

"Kiss me."

A/N: I worked a magic (no, sorry, illusionist) show tonight at the arts centre and it inspired me to send Frances and Beau to the same show.

Oh no. Fran is like my MOM!!!

She despises magic. Almost as much as she hates monkeys.

*snort*

(I'm with you, Fran. Maybe the illusionists could make all the ninjas and pirates disappear!)

From the sounds of it, I'M like your Mom too. Monkeys and clowns are two things I've never really seen the appeal of. Circuses in general, really.

I'm with Franny too. Really, he's just a mouthpiece for my snobbiest opinions, like in this case (though I do like pirates well enough).

Does anyone LIKE clowns, really? They're either boring, or terrifying. Never funny.

Great little short story, Fran and Beau are so cute. <3

I know I don't! Cicuses are pretty depressing altogether, actually. At least the animals there :(

Ha-hem, a bit off track there, but this was a wonderful little interlude <3 They're so hilarious together!

Ugh. Those poor animals. Circuses are the worst. It's odd that we still have them, I think. Cirque de Soleil is even worse - all the fun of circus with more annoying French joie de vivre!

Heheh. Ummm, yeah... about that. :P I'm a little off track in general, I will be the first to admit. I hit a bit of a wall on the story work and rl has been interfering, but I'm going to try to get my act together this week. I promise.

Thanks. ^_^

Oh, haha. Yeah, I guess you wouldn't come right and tell me to get back to work! XD It's true, though. I'm way off my two week schedule now.

Eh, we've highjacked this thread so much already I don't think it matters. :)

But no, I have not. All I really know about it is that it's Norwegian and it's got an elephant in it. *hangs head in shame*

I've never liked clowns. D: Even long before I read Stephen King's It they weirded me out. And that book... well... that was just the clincher. D:

I've never read it. I know it wouldn't do me any good. I don't need to find clowns any creepier. Not at all. :P

Yeah, IT doesn't help. Haven't read the book, but I've seen the movie. The clown is scary as hell, but the spider thing at the end is just stupid. My husband assures me it's a lot better in the book. :p

Well, to be fair, they were probably more entertaining before television and all that was invented. These days, not so much.

Thanks. ^_^ They're becoming even more fun as they become more comfortable with each other and more prone to light bickering.

But do you really HATE monkeys, like wish they were all DEAD? My mother despises them to the point she (and remember, she's a religious nut job) say, "Monkeys are as close as god will ever come to making a mistake."

*shudders* Clowns are so not right. WHY would a grown adult want to slather themselves in makeup and act like an ass for kids (and really, do kids even LIKE clowns? more often then not they cry and there are very few adults I know who don't cringe when clowns are mentioned) Clowning is just a way for pedophiles to get close to children.

Well, no I don't consider them a mistake of God (mostly because I believe in evolution), or even dislike them really, but I don't find them funny (they're like the worst possible type of human "funny") and I don't think they should be kept as pets (because, you know - sometimes they freak out and rip your face off). That's all. *snicker*

Your mother must be very entertaining. Why does she hate them so?

Yeah, you called it. There's no other explanation. *shudder*

I'm fairly certain my mother's monkey hatred comes from evolution. She's a creationist (yes, she actually said she believes the earth is only about five-thousand years old--my sister and I just stared at her like WTF?!) I think when she looks at a monkey it rattles her beliefs. She doesn't enjoy that one little bit. (she also doesn't like it when you point it out to her, like commenting, "Gee, George W Bush really looks like a chimp. Guess there's something to that evolution thing after all, huh?")

She also thinks they're dirty and gross, which I can agree with on some level.

Wow. I have a friend a bit like that (we're both Christian), but not even he's said that. Me, I've always taken it to be a metaphor, since no one was there at the time. There's been too much evidence of evolution for me to think any different.

I actually found an interesting take on the creation story. Turns out the Hebrew term for "days" could mean anything (it's a translation glitch, I gather). So the creation as told in Genesis could well have happened over millions of years, therefore agreeing with the evolution theory on that front.

Therefore, for her to take the story so literally just sounds pretty silly to me :-\

Like the old SNL commercial for Santi Wrap (like a toilet seat wrap to put on santa's lap so you don't catch something from him).

My mother is quite amusing. Very sarcastic and much more entertaining now then she was in her younger days (she ruled with an iron fist when I was a kid, you couldn't even say "fart" but now we can all sit around the dinner table and laugh about people crapping their pants).
