Here are some drabbles relating to my Strangetown story, which I wrote for a drabble writing group that I'm involved with. Warnings and other details are listed with the each drabble. There is some hinting at upcoming action in the story, and also just a little more exploration of things that have already happened.
Dance
Characters: Jayne Doe, Johnny Smith, Ophelia Nigmos, Ripp Grunt
Subject: Sims 2 - Strangetown, Here We Come.
Wordcount: 100
Warnings: none (invite your children)
“Johnny! I love this song – want to dance?” Jayne turned her dark eyes to Ophelia.
“You don’t mind, do you?”
“Not at all.”
Ophelia stood alone, and watched them. Ripp was on the other side of the room, chatting up some girl.
Her favourite song came on.
“Seems like you need a partner.” Ripp was offering his hand. “I know you like this one, Phi.”
“Hey, Phi. Want to show them how it’s done?” Johnny had returned.
They eyed each other, until she took both of their hands and headed for the dance floor.
“Well, that’s easy enough to solve.”
First
Character: Ripp Grunt
Subject: Sims 2 - Strangetown, Here We Come.
Wordcount: 100
Warnings: language (one f-bomb - not bad at all, considering the character), implied sexual content
There was a first time for everything, right? Well, if you're lucky, there was. If you didn't just go for it and take advantage of every opportunity that presented itself to you, what was the point in even being alive?
There wasn't one. Not that he could see. So he would gladly seize any chance to elevate himself from that. Putting something into his body, or putting his body into something else. Taking something. Giving something away. Consuming it. Releasing it. Whatever.
Others would likely disagree with him. They wouldn't have done it. But why not?
Flowers.
How fucking weird.
A/N: This refers to the events in chapter twenty.
Eternal
Characters: Ophelia Nigmos, Ripp Grunt
Subject: Sims 2 - Strangetown, Here We Come.
Wordcount: 100
Warnings: None
Ophelia ran her hand over one of the headstones, imagining what lay beneath it.
Just bones.
She wondered about the people that they had been, and what happened to that consciousness after death. Did it just cease to exist? She didn’t really know what she believed, but she couldn’t accept that. Surely something continued on.
Ripp was also quietly contemplating the sea of graves, but then looked up to meet her eyes. He sauntered over to her.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Nothing.” She smiled. “You?”
“Not much.”
She placed her hand on his shoulder, and they went back inside.
Shooting Star
Character: Johnny Smith
Subject: Sims 2 - Strangetown, Here We Come.
Wordcount: 100
Warnings: None
Johnny stepped outside to get some air. He had finally done it. They had met. Now everything was out in the open. Well, almost. He sighed.
He had hoped that the answer would occur to him, miraculously, once they were both in the same room.
This had not happened.
Ophelia. She was perfect. He loved her. It should be an easy choice, but it wasn’t. He looked up at the sky. Somewhere out there, they were dying, one by one. He was a part of that too.
A meteorite entered the atmosphere of the planet, and burned until nothing remained.
