Yet another reason I adore ACR...

As much as I love working out intricate plotty reasons for pairing up certain Maxis characters, and finding those hidden connections myself, sometimes I just can't be arsed. You know what I mean? There are all those bin sims and Bluewater Village characters that I don't really play with much (yet), but I want to have them living lives out there in the background, and ACR helps me to set them up in story-like situations quite easily.
I like Tara. I want to keep her single with tonnes of cats. That's just her destinty, I think. She's also a baby-hungry family sim, who hasn't completely redirected her motherly instincts to her cats, so I figured it was single mom time.
Enter ACR. Tara has some bolts with various sims she has met (including Cyd Roseland, who'd make an okay match), so I started calling them up, and enabled her to try for baby for outside of a relationship. May the best man win!

The best man is local stud and bakery owner, Gilbert Jacquet. It's just too perfect when a swinging romance sim has an oopsy baby out there, and can you imagine a more odd scenario? He has a kid with the weirdo cat lady.
The facial genetics are very Face Two and not too thrilling (Gee, I wonder what the baby will look like. Answer: BOTH of the parents. They're twins), but Gilbert actually has blond hair, so at least the recessive genes will be interesting.
So, do you have any good ACR success stories to share? I could go on and on about how much better this hack makes the game. It's awesome.
Also, I think I'm still on track for the next chapter, if you consider that I missed some time with the long weekend. I'll try to catch up a little this weekend, but I probably won't update until next week at the earliest. I also started a new job last week and caught the knitting bug really badly (I'm making a scarf out of bamboo yarn - really nice stuff), so there are distractions everywhere.

Date: 2009-04-17 02:43 am (UTC)Wouldn`t call it a success story but ACR gave a rather odd Dina/Lazlo moment.

Date: 2009-04-17 02:45 am (UTC)Actually, I'm pretty sure that she is NOT face two. I mean, she's nothing too unusual, but she's not a standard face template. I used her as an extra during the BC I wrote last summer. My girl I used for that (Miranda in my icon) is very much face two (her father and grandfather were both face two) and she and Tara don't look alike. Tara's face is a little rounder with less of a chin. The nose also doesn't have that faint hook that face two has.
For comparison... here's Tara and here's Miranda.
Anyway, this tl;dr is basically just saying that you'll probably end up with something other than basic face two unless Gilbert's genes kick Tara's to the curb and take over the baby. ;)

Date: 2009-04-17 02:47 am (UTC)ACR hooked up Goopy GilsCarbo and Tina Traveller(who's a teen in my game). They're pretty cute together, so they may get together when she's older, unless I move in my Simself and she snatches him up first. ;)

Date: 2009-04-17 02:54 am (UTC)Crazy spinster cat lady? I love it!! House of clutter, newspapers over the floor & frizzy hair.... scaring the kids on their way home from school because she can. XD
ACR is still sitting on my desktop. I'm not sure if I'm going to put it in or not.... perhaps when G6 hit uni I will. Maybe.
So are you going to show off the sprats?

Date: 2009-04-17 03:01 am (UTC)In Maxis Land, I haven't had any good pregnancies yet. I agree with you on ACR though, it definitely makes my life. I love not having to try for baby- the only thing that truly bugs me is that Family Sims are insane with it. CRAZY. They never want to stop having kids! D:
And, did you see that TJ released ACR 2.0? I haven't tested it out yet, but I will. It looks promising. :D

Date: 2009-04-17 05:03 am (UTC)I've just installed ACR 2.0 in my game (because I'm insane) and can't wait to try it out ^^. I'm gonna play the Megahood and see what happens to them.

Date: 2009-04-17 03:16 am (UTC)And ACR is totally fun! I had a sim that I had created check out Tara Kat once while I was using ACR, actually -- she was the first ANYBODY I had him check out. He decided she was hot, and they immediately went into his house to woo-hoo. Totally NOOOOT what I was expecting. Maybe some flirting or something first? Jeez. XD

Date: 2009-04-17 03:28 am (UTC)In my mega hood where every house has unmarried try on so that the genetics have a good chance to mix: Tara Kat is currently pregnant by Brandi Broke, Jessica Peterson (? BDC) had Carlos Contenders daughter and he moved them out of the trailer so he could spoil his princess, and one of the Cordial twins is pregnant by Armand DeBateu.

Date: 2009-04-17 05:02 am (UTC)It's amusing how much you love ACR now, considering how hesitant you were to install it in the past. It's great that you eventually gave in and joined the fun of MOAR randomness in our sims games :).
You probably know all my ACR stories by now, the most succesful one being, of course, Helena's relationship with both Ripp Grunt and Calvin Broke (and her brood of adorable babies). Cody's also the product of ACR now that I think about it.
I've never played with any of them, but it's cute that Tara's supposed to be the daughter (or grandaughter) of Ginia Kat from the Sims 1. A million years ago, I played her lot when I got Unleashed as a birthday present :).

Date: 2009-04-17 05:58 am (UTC)Most recently, my asylum has had a baby boom thanks to ACR. ACR + preg4all + lotfullofsims = Tanathir tears her hair out. 8 adults, 7 kids, and one more pregnant. I finally had to move out three-bolt Castor Miller and pregnant Bunker Terrano, their 2 kids, and one of the cats, and the asylum is STILL overcrowded. XD
How weird?

Date: 2009-04-17 06:48 am (UTC)I would so much like to have ACR - it seems so fun - but since I share my game with my daughter (soon 13) I don't think I can. Or is it possible to set it up so that ACR only shows up in my own hoods? I don't like her to know that it even exists.

Date: 2009-04-17 07:14 pm (UTC)My neighborhood was in desperate need of some drama, and one day, while I was playing a different household, one of my (currently uncontrollable) sims autonomously fell in love with his uncle's wife. Note that his uncle is an evil 0-nice-point sim and people who cross him to tend end up buried in his backyard, keeping his cowplant company. Success! But of course, he won't die until they spawn and create some really fucked up family trees.

Date: 2009-04-17 10:02 pm (UTC)If we're going to share stories, well it's not so much a "success" as an "OMGNUUU!!!11 D:" story. :P I did the raising sextuplets challenge with Don Lothario, who managed mind-blowingly well on his own for a while, except he couldn't work. So I moved Nina in. Like two days later, they take off together and I don't think anything of it until I hear the jingles. D: Thank you risky woohoo! :D
ACR makes the sim-verse a better place. It really does.

Well let me provide you some context. Gilbert works at Florence's shop, which now has an elevator.
*flails like Kermit* AHHHHHHthey woohoo-d and now shes prego with his twins...cause she ate cheesecake.
>.> but I've turned Gilbert family, as much as the inner me protested...Florence just loves him so much, and he stayed the night and he's such a good dad to his daughter, Francesca...I had tooooo >.
