Strangetown extras: Grunt Family Portrait

So, I finally decided to try my hand at making a custom painting with SimPE, and the process was super easy. I'll definitely be making more of these to customize the artwork in my story. More specifically, I'm going to decorate homes with photos of the characters in my story whenever appropriate. This will include family portraits, wedding portraits, and so on. I'd really like to recolour that cluster of smaller frames with random snapshots (but I don't recall seeing that template in SimPE. I'll have to look into how I'd go about doing that.)

My first first project was, predictably, a Grunt family portrait. I wanted to have the boys discover this stashed away with the General's belongings. It would be something he put away after Lyla left, since he couldn't bear to be reminded of her. I have no idea when this might turn up in the story, so I decided to just share it right away.

Strangetown Extras: April Fish!

Did you know that the practical joking element of April Fools Day was most likely started in France? In France (or French cultures, like in French Canada) the person being fooled is referred to as a poisson d'avril, or April fish. This originally had something to do with the zodiac, and the French traditionally celebrated April Fools Day by placing dead fish on the backs of their friends. (No, I'm not making this up!)

Strangetown extras: Preview of "next generation" LFT student

It might be a while before another Strangetown chapter surfaces, but I am working on it, just so you know. I'm thinking of doing a shorter "extra" chapter 23.5, but even that might not show up before the weekend. It's a busy time for me, and we have family coming to stay with us for the weekend, so there is plenty of tidying up to do in preparation for that. That darn housework cuts into my simming time. If only maids were as cheap and easy to obtain in real life as they are for sims, I'd have Remmington Harris doing my chores instead.

I just wanted to share one photo with you, mostly just to get excited about the Free Time Skirt & Stockings outfit converted for adults by cloudlessnights on MTS2. I love that Free Time outfit to bits. BITS! Fair isle, argyle, sweater vests, knee socks, and skirts... these are a few of my favourite things!

ETA: I found some more Free Time conversions on the Sims Resource by aikea guinea: teen male and teen female Free Time "Tech" outfits converted for adults (same as above, but includes the male versions too... and your guess is as good as mine about why they are called "tech." outfits) and Teen female "Bohemian" outfit converted for adult females. Hooray!

Strangetown extras: Ripp is obsessed with his own mortality

Now, I know that I've been known to InSIM Ripp into a variety of ailments, and I've even killed him a couple of times to get the shots I needed for the story, but is that any reason for him to become fixated on death? I'm starting to worry about his mental health, just a little. Check out the fear that he rolled during a recent session at the Grunt house...

Strangetown extras: Johnny, Ripp and Ophelia artwork - available as an in-game painting

I meant to post this earlier, but better late than never. [livejournal.com profile] jessicus took the drawing of Johnny, Ripp, and Ophelia and turned it into a painting for use in the game. It's a recolour of a Glamour Life painting (a Bella Goth themed homage to Andy Warhol), and can be found here. Thanks for making this, Jessicus! It's available for download if you want to use it in your game (and I'd love to see pics of it if you do).

Strangetown extras: Johnny, Ripp and Ophelia artwork

I previously mentioned that my significant other had agreed to use his artistic talents to create caricatures of some of the characters in my Strangetown story, and he just came home and presented me with the finished product. How exciting! I chose Johnny, Ripp, and Ophelia as the subjects, and I'm quite pleased by the results.

Strangetown extras: Transitions

Since I know that I could use a good laugh right now, I thought I would share these funny transition photos with you. Sure, I could save them for outtakes, and avoid breaking up chapter twenty two, but you know what? I'm going to do it anyway. Why not?

One day, I will transition into an outfit that is so cool that it will hurt your eyes...

Strangetown extras: Feeling the love

Let's take a moment to remember the many faces of love on this, the 14th of February. As our friends in Strangetown have shown us, there are many types of love out there. Whether in an established relationship, one just starting out, or with someone you barely know, an unrequited crush, self love, or love of family and friends. Love comes in so many forms.

Happy Valentine's Day! Go ahead and enjoy your favourite sort of love.

Strangetown extras: Family portraits, gardening, and reader participation + sims talk

I just wanted to share a couple of photos and do some sims gabbing about CC and the Kitchen and Bath Stuff Pack.

Also, is anyone interested in some reader participation related to the next chapter? No promises that it will end up in the story, but I'm opening the floor to anything that you would like to see come up in conversation at the dinner party with Johnny, Ophelia, Ripp, Stella and Jayne (within reason and character, of course). I have plenty of my own, but is there anything that you would like to see brought up? Just curious. Maybe I'm overlooking something good...

Strangetown extras: Meet the Worthingtons

I'm hard at work at Chapter Nineteen, but I took a little break to finally get into SimPE and create the Worthington family. I've been wanting to do this for ages. I could always wait to introduce them in a chapter with Frances, but I can't. I'm too excited, and that might be a while coming. It's not like it's a big secret (like the clones were), so why not share them now? I can't think of a good reason not to, so here are a few pics and character profiles for the Worthingtons.

Strangetown extras: Ophelia rocks!

Okay, so I just wanted to brag about Ophelia's achievement in obtaining her gold talent badge for flower arranging, and show a cute photo or two. This is actually the first sim of mine to reach this level of flower arranging (I haven't had OFB all that long), so I'm excited to see the snapdragon bouquets in action.

Strangetown extras: The creation of Lyla Grunt

I decided that I wanted to actually show Lyla Grunt in the next Strangetown chapter, and since I'm not about to mess around with the one in Olive's cemetery, I created my own version in CAS. Also, judging from what I've seen with the ghost Lyla, she doesn't exactly measure up genetically, so I took some liberties. I created her from extracted versions of Ripp and Buck. Since Tank resembles Buzz so much, that seemed to make the most sense. I already mentioned that Ripp has her eyes, so I was sure to keep that accurate too. Anyway, I got so excited with the results, that I thought I'd give a little sneak peek.
