Actually, the game flags prevent autonomous romance unless you have a hack that overrides it.
When one sim has crush/love flags with another sim, there will be NO autonomous romance with any other sims unless they also get crush/love flags with them.
This is why Pascal always seems to be a randy little bastage in my games, lol... because out of the three brothers, he is the only one that doesn't start off the game with a crush flag. Vid's crush on Circe and Lazlo's crush on Crystal prevent them from starting anything with any other sims. Pascal on the other hand, has no such barriers. (wink)
Also, once a sim gets engaged or married, they'll stop doing that bend-you-over smooch when they greet a sim they have high chemistry with (the only auto romance action they will do with crush/love flags for other sims.)
So Ripp will keep his hands off Ophelia until and unless there is a crush or a love flag between them either for her or him or both (it can be one-sided). Then all bets would be off, lol!
One thing you'll definitely notice with the three bolts is them following each other all over the house everywhere. O_o
