CC project: subtle sideburns

After thinking about Ripp's sideburns some more, and some fruitless searching, I decided to try my hand at alpha editing.

Everything is clearly labeled, to avoid confusion.

1. No sideburns

2. My alpha-edited subtle sideburns - I can only figure out how to make them in black. Does anyone know how to toggle the colour in BodyShop?

3. My sideburns, again. Shown in black, to illustrate how they would look if they matched up.

4. Maxis sideburns

5. Tyler's sideburns (from GoS)

6. Fanseelamb's pointy sideburns (included with the Rufus Wainwright sim)

So what do you think? They achieve the effect I want them too (less stylized, and more natural than the other options), but I don't know how to make them brown. I'm sure there's an easy answer that I'm somehow missing. Anyone?

Also, what could be sexier than Ripp?

Answer: Six Ripps.

When I go into the "create project" menu to select the sideburns, all the facial hair is shown as black hair and there's no way to select a different colour.

Toggle is probably the wrong word, but you know how you can select which colour hair you want to work with when creating a sim hair in BodyShop? Well, I couldn't do that with the facial hair. It was only giving me black as an option, and there was no way to switch to the different bin colours.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, and I'm missing a step. I should have access to the four default colours, shouldn't I?

In theory you should have access to the four colors, that's right. I've never made facial hair, so I'm not sure how does the BS screen look, but if what you're saying is actually a mistake from Maxis, it's a very lame one!

Yeah, the swatches with different colours weren't there, like they are for the hair. I'm going to take another look at it in the morning, and make search around to see if this is a known issue. How are people supposed to make custom facial hair, if you can't access all the colours? There must be a way.

(I was thinking about toggle again, and it's definitely wrong. It implies that there are only two options - on or off. Thanks for reminding the people with English as a first language how to use it. :P *is embarrassed*)

Franny makes the best puppy dog expressions. He shatters hearts.

I wanted a Frances icon really badly too, so I made this one. ^_^

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
He does! (I actually posted a secret about him, but I don't know what happened! D: )

I love it. He's precious. That's from when he came out at the wedding, right?

(Also, I have some things I've been DYING to talk to you about. I should send you a PM so we don't ~spam LJ~ ;) )

Really? Is there an anti-Frances conspiracy? Maybe your post didn't go through.

Yeah, it's from when he cringes and says, "Welcome to the Worthington family." Poor Franny.

Listen, don't worry about "spamming" my journal. I don't know why people get so uptight about their damn lj ettiquette. If I needed that sort of thing in my life, I'd read Mrs. Manners.

That said, feel free to PM me. We can be ~secretive~.

I don't think it did, to be completely honest.

*nods* I read the chapter like seven times, poor thing. I love him so much. I love that he came out at the wedding, as crazy as that is. ^__^

I was kidding, ST. I like having long, crazy discussions, and I do it in my own journal as well. I don't like people who try to dictate how other people run their LJs. *eyeroll*

:D

Gosh, we totally need to have a slumber party sometime. With jammies and ice cream and junk like that.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
I know, right? We need to meet up soon. I need to win the lottery, STAT.

Hey, I'm going to have a couple of months for travel this summer. If we don't go to Iceland, maybe we'll take a little roadtrip southward. I've always wanted to head down to New Orleans. Or see the desert. I can't get my head around deserts at all. It's so damp here.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That's SO COOL. Iceland sounds amazing, but if you don't go, that sounds EPIC.

My mom's been to New Orleans. it sounds amazing. You'd love it, everyone does. :D

I've never been to a desert either, actually. It would be so weird to live in one, right? So DRY, all the time.

(Is it really that damp where you live? It's an island, so I imagine it is. That sounds crazy.)

Reykjavík seems like such a cool city to me, and I've wanted to go there for a while now. The volcanic hot springs would also be very cool to experience. We've been thinking about it.

New Orleans has also been on my list for quite some time. ^_^ It's just one of those super awesome places everyone needs to go at least once.

Yeah, deserts are so odd to me. It is rather moist here. It's not really humid or anything, but we get plenty of rain, snow, and fog (which is like living in a cloud - pretty moist). I actually feel different and sort of uncomfortable when I'm somewhere that isn't near the ocean. I think I miss the smell of salt and the negative ions. :P I need those ions!

Sure can. ^_^

[identity profile] leskuh.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
ABSOLUTELY. We'll make a fort and gossip about our sims and it will be AWESOME.

I still need to attempt to respond to those chapter 29 comments, speaking of lj ettiquette. I really can't be arsed to respond to every single comment ever posted out of obligation (lj is really effing weird in that people seem to expect it here), but I do like to try to respond to the story entry comments. It's a bit like sending a thank-you card back to the person who sent you a thank-you card (No, please... thank YOU for thanking ME! *snicker*), unless there's an actual question or discussion, but I do want to be appreciative.

I agree. People can be so uptight. I will admit to feeling annoyance at times when people post something really off topic in a thread, but that's only if they didn't comment on the on-topic at all. That's "thread highjacking," right? Or just hanging out in the comments? I don't know. I usually don't care if it's a natural divergence from the topic, but coming in from left field is annoying in RL too.

We know this guy that we actually call Left Field, because having a conversation with him is just so random. He switches topics based on what he's thinking, but doesn't relate the connection to you. It's weird.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I do respond to everyone's comments, but I think it's because I'm OVERLY polite. (When I had less friends I read everything they published too, but now I can't even try, it's crazy.) But yeah, people DO seem to think you *have* to respond to their comment because they commented on yours, but it can get ridiculous.

Thread hijacking is more like jumping into a conversation out of NOWHERE, which I don't mind as much, but only if it's relevant, you know?

*nodnod* People do change the subject sometimes, it's so weird.

UGH I HATE THAT. I would never, ever hang out with him, I would just be so angry all the time. :P
