CC project: subtle sideburns

After thinking about Ripp's sideburns some more, and some fruitless searching, I decided to try my hand at alpha editing.

Everything is clearly labeled, to avoid confusion.

1. No sideburns

2. My alpha-edited subtle sideburns - I can only figure out how to make them in black. Does anyone know how to toggle the colour in BodyShop?

3. My sideburns, again. Shown in black, to illustrate how they would look if they matched up.

4. Maxis sideburns

5. Tyler's sideburns (from GoS)

6. Fanseelamb's pointy sideburns (included with the Rufus Wainwright sim)

So what do you think? They achieve the effect I want them too (less stylized, and more natural than the other options), but I don't know how to make them brown. I'm sure there's an easy answer that I'm somehow missing. Anyone?

Also, what could be sexier than Ripp?

Answer: Six Ripps.

I like number two. Maybe three.

With the color toggle thing, I usually start out with blond and go on from there since it's ~easier~ to recolor it.

Maybe you can try giving it a screen layer to make it lighter? That might make it weird and contrasty though. :\

That was a knee-slapper~ :P

I like your style...not everyone has such heavy sideburns

I don't do much in body shop, so I've got no answer to your question, but I think yours are the best of the bunch that you've shown.

4 and 6 are to long, and 5 looks like he took a bunch of hair spray and combed it backwards.

I don't know how to toggle the color, but I do like your edits quite a bit. They look like the kind of sideburns that a really laid back guy would have. It's not so clean that it looks professionally done, but the guy still wanted to make an effort.

Yours are nicely realistic looking, and don't look like they need a lot of work. Which suits Ripp nicely. Having sideburns because they start where you stop shaving to is more like him than carefully manicuring his facial hair each day.

Nice job with those sideburns. They look A LOT more natural than the Maxis ones. Those Maxis sideburns have always kind of bothered me...

Yeah, all I can think of for changing the color would be to extract a brown hair using BodyShop, then use some photo-editing program to open the file for the sideburns and one of the files for the hair side-by-side, so that you can easily compare the color as you recolor the sideburns. There's got to be a better way, though.

I agree with Doey, export the blond one and then use layers to color it (lucky Photoshoppers!)

And they look GREAT! I would definitely download them. :D I love how subtle they are, delicious.

I love those sideburns. They look much more natural than the Maxis ones. I'd definitely download them.

Six Ripps = WINWINWINWINWINWIN

They look great! Much better than the base ones, which I don't use as much as I'd like because they are too long.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by toggle. You mean you want them to change color when you change the sim's hair color like all the Maxis facial hair?

If that's the case, you need to make four different projects for your sideburns (one using a red haired sim, another with a blond, etc. etc.) and work from there so you can compare the sim's hair with the sideburn.

Once you are done, you can bin them so they work like the base game hair. I use the WW because I have no idea how to do it with SimPe.

And I hope this made sense! O_o

Oh wow, AWESOME. I-I do not know what I am feeling, but I actually think Ripp looks - dare I say - HOT. :O

I think this is the first time I have ever admitted physical attraction to Ripp? WOW.

Seriously, they look wicked awesome. I hope you figure out the color thing. *crosses fingers*

Ooh, I love them. :D Would very much like them in my game too, when you're done. I can't help with the colours, though. :(

One way that I know you can get access to all four of the textures is to export them in SimPE. Some info on that:
