Hot Blond Downtownie

Am I the only simmer who doesn't like the Hot Blonde Downtownie? His "pretty" genes don't really do it for me, because I don't think template No. 1 looks good on male sims, and he's so poorly styled. Well, the shaggy hair isn't so bad, but the giant green glasses and the "Look Ma, I grew it myself!" teenaged goatee? Yeah, not really doing anything for me.

He's the focus of the new sim_mania challenge, which I'll be watching with interest. If anyone actually makes him look good to me, I'll definitely vote for them. I'll probably campaign on their behalf, in fact. But really... good luck with that. He's the reason chin beards were invented. *shudder*

I'm sure most of you will disagree with me, and you're welcome to it, but the HBD just bugs the shit out of me, so I had to vent a little. (I have to say that or you might think I'm better than you, or something.)

The timing of this challenge is funny, because I just made him playable to act as a minor character in my story. Yeah, HBD gets the plum role of Jaxy's mother's live-in boyfriend. It's not the sort of character he usually plays in legacies and such, but he wanted to expand his repertoire, since Sperm Donor No. 1 only gets you so far on your acting résumé. And he looks the part too. This will be his gritty, breakthrough role on his way to becoming the next indie film poster boy.

I think you've figured it out. That facial hair is a desperate attempt to look older.

Yeah, he's not exactly a face one, judging by that (and face one looks so much better with different colour - I like David a lot better). Is Brandi exactly face one? It seems like her eyes are different... they're more angled up in the corners, maybe?

Yeah, I have issues with face one too, though I do like it in small does. Some sims should have it... but not ALL sims. I think Erin Beaker is face one, right? There's not too much of it in Strangetown.

I'm really not a fan of sunglasses, especially coloured ones. That Traveller guy is another one that rots my guts. He just seems like he'd have to be a dickhead to me.

There are quite a few more templates, I think, though it's been a while since I had any downtownies now. I remember specifically a dude with a cowboy hat, and a teen girl with a red version of Lilith Pleasant's dress, short black hair and the face mask that Tybalt Capp's got. If you wanna make your own downtownies, I recommend using the townie creator tool and making them one by one, saving after each one you want to keep. If you just mass-generate them, you WILL get duplicates, or more. I had three identical girl teen townies at one point. :p Don't use the "reject" option on the townie creator, it'll just leave a garbage character file in your 'hood. If you get a townie you don't want, exit the lot without saving. Tedious, but you won't get any garbage. :)

I always thought Sexy Goth Elf Dude looked a little more pissy than regular elf templates, too. More slanted eyebrows, I think.

I do use them, but I usually use a mixture of sims from other people's legacies, maxis sims (usually the uni ones), my own sims, or townies. I think in my first legacy, I used only about three townies in the whole legacy.

I love that Don cheats on Cassandra with Kaylynn, when they look like they have the same face template.

Also, Alexander Goth looks a lot like Goopy, not Mortimer. (Did Bella have an affair? :x)

...I never even thought to pay any attention to that guy. So many (down)townies are "beauty-impaired" that I really wasn't going to wait around for him to take his damn glasses off.

I AM fond of the female hot blond downtownie, with the beret and the purple lipstick.
