Sims Talk: Bigfoot

This is for [personal profile] madame_ugly, who wanted a closer look at Bigfoot.

My plan is to move Bigfoot in with the Kim family, who will help him to realize his true star potential. Since the futuristic thing isn't working for them anymore (for those who don't know, the Kim family used to star in a TV show that was set in the future, like the Jetsons). There seems to be potential for a story there. Who wouldn't want to see Bigfoot's rise to stardom, and his inevitable downfall?

The Kim family wasted no time in getting to know Bigfoot. They joined him in his favourite hobby: fishing.

Doesn't he look great? (I need to figure out how to make default replacement eyes for the creature sims. I could use some of Lyran's other eyes to replace them.)

Here's a better look:

He's related to Kaylynn Langerak, I see. That's her exact nose. Too bad Bigfoot can't breed with normal sims. I'm assuming that two Bigfeet wouldn't be able to breed with each other either (and it wouldn't achieve much, anyway, since they're all identical).

His name is Alon Bigfoot in my game. You get a different first name for every new Bigfoot.

He certainly makes up for the lack of body hair on male sims, doesn't he?

He doesn't need a censor blur either, even though he's buck naked. At least he attempts to hide his shame.

For those of you who consider Bigfoot old news (which is just about everyone, I'm sure), how do you get him to move in with you? Everyone in my party is friends with him, and they did the slap dance, but I don't see an option to ask to him to move in. What am I doing wrong here?

ETA: I went back and tried it again, and the option to move him into the family was there this time. Bigfoot is a member of the family now. He's a popularity sim. I was amused by the wants that I found when I made him selectable.

Bigfoot wants to party. This will work well for his show business career.

All of your questions will be answered.

1. Bigfoot becomes selectable as soon as he agrees to move in, so you can play him on him own lot for a while, but once you go back to the campsite/hotel, he disappears until you arrive back home, where he'll be waiting. He's a fully selectable sim on the home lot.

2. Bigfoot comes with MAXED SKILLS and a golden badge in EVERY talent area. (!!!!) This is by far the coolest thing about him. I haven't seen a lot of the top level objects from those crafting stations, so I'm testing them all out now.

3. The Kims live in Sim City, with is Strangetown's "downtown", so they will be seen as side characters, and I guess that will include Alon Bigfoot too. I intend to use the Kims in the background with the Pleasant twins and other celebrities. I can do the story of Bigfoot as a stand alone thing, but it will still fit into the story world. (Can I really do another dream sequence? I feel like I overuse them, but basically every idea I've ever had is a dream sequence. *snicker*)

4. I'm not sure if I do have that hack in... does it unlock the uni careers for everyone? I have the LTW hack. I can always use the Lot Debugger to make it seem as if Bigfoot went to uni, and get him in show business (or that new entertainment career). Bigfoot actually wants to be a City Planner. *snicker* He's so good at getting promotions (he doesn't need the friend requirement), that I'm sure I can get him to the top of many careers in the game. For the story, he'll be a movie star.

5. I was hoping for an angry cat, but nothing so far. Once he moved in, he was already a little friendly with the cat, so maybe that helped. I'll keep you posted.

I really love that they have different face templates too. And I'm very pleased that mine has the crooked nose Kaylynn Langerak face. He looks great.

Female servos have a bow? That's sort of funny... for about 5 minutes, but then it's just too silly. They're robots. They don't need the bow.

Bigfoot has some nice booty. He's doing the Slap Dance in that pick. It's a great animation. Bon Voyage does have some great animations, like digging for shells. It would be useful for scenes where sims are crouching to look at something. I can see it coming in handy. (Do you want Bon Voyage yet?)

Here's a bonus Bigfoot pic for you:

Photobucket

*snort* Autonomously serving gelatin, while the cat watches with suspicion. I love how the gelatin matches the kitchen.

2. While it's cool he has it all, that's kind of dull, too. That's my beef with Servos. They get the same "spread" as the sim who activates them (including LTW).

3. Your story will be a bit more "sim" with the addition of Bigfoot. *snicker* There could be Bigfoot sightings, carefully planned as promotional stunts by the Kims! (I think Bigfoot need to open his own petshop, just a random thought, but I think it would be fun)

4. Yes, that hack makes uni careers available as LTW's (even for sims that haven't graduated college). Dina Caliente is the first sim I've seen roll a uni want in my game. She wants to be an artist. OH, I forgot FT has an "entertainer" career. That could be his "celebrity" LTW, too. (*snort* another random funny Bigfoot thought, he could be a "crazy pet guy" hording animals)

Yeah, female servos hav a pink bow on their antenna, big girly eyelashes on their camera lense eye and "lipstick" lips. If the bow and makeup could be different colors, I think I'd like it a little more (though the bow still irks me). I only have one girl servo (Mrs. Doubtfire) in Nocheat (and only six servos total through all my hoods).

No, I don't want BV just yet. I'd need to see more animations before I'd consider it. It just seems like once you send a sim to each vacation site, that's it. I mean how many times can you do the "look at our vacation slides" thing? It's as boring in sims as it is in real life.

*snicker* I don't know that I'd feel comfortable with Bigfoot perparing meals. Imagine finding a Bigfoot hair in your gelatin and wondering exactly what part of his body it fell from? Bigfoot buttcrack hair? In my Jello? Bill Cosby would NOT approve.

2. I like that he has it all, so I can try it out (I'm not too torn up about not having to "achieve it", since what do I really gain by having sims make potholders for days when I could do something more interesting?), but you're right about it being boring too. There's nothing left to achieve, is there? There's also no room for personality. I like that certain sims have different skills from others.

I actually really like that Servos copy the personality of the sim who activates them. I'll be using that detail in my story. The Servos are designed to be vessels for their sim conterparts. It's another way to achieve immortality, and protect certain sims from attacks by others.

3. My story isn't sim enough already? I thought the alien thing was pretty simmish, though I suppose I have been avoiding the other creatures. I like the idea of having Bigfoot in there, though. It could be a silly little side thing, played for laughs. I like the pet store idea too.

I agree. The servo accessories should be, well, accessories. I'd love to be able to remove them too.

I felt that way too, and the gameplay of collecting memories and discovering secret lots is only interesting once or twice (and it's too task-oriented, and not really very much like the spirit of the sims series). That part bores me, but I love the idea of having these extra locations, especially the tropical one, with the beach lots. I like the idea of using the destinations as settings instead of "look what we did on our vacation" type of things. Having someone take off and get away from it all can be good for a story, and I like the idea of sims going on honeymoons and having destinations weddings a lot.

I think there are enough objects and animations to make it worth it from that side of it too. I'll report on any other interesting findings.

"Bill Cosby would NOT approve." *SNORT* No, he would not.

2. I like Servos having SOME of their activator's personality, but I want a little twist. Like when you have alien children they sometimes get wacky personalities. For story purposes, I too use the "Servo is created in sims image" thing. Except my Servos want to achieve BEYOND the personality given them by their sims (hence the Servos Rights Movement).

As for BV, I just think the "gotta get away" thing (for stories) could be achieved just by building a big "community" lot and teleporting sims there and making your own vacations. TRUE, you wouldn't have the beach stuff, but would my Peculiar-ites (in particular) really got to a beach? They live in the desert. Sand is what they want to get away from.

I'm also not keen on bogging my computer down with an EP that I don't think I'd use that much (and not getting it now leaves it available to me should my game start to get stale)

That's a good point that they should come "with a twist" in their personality. Like maybe they could have one category that was the opposite of their activator, and it was random.

That reminds me... do you remember how, in the original Sims game, sims would get their personalities reversed when they were abducted?

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that I'm thinking about it, I do kind of remember the sims 1 abductions. I remember how the other sims would go looking for the abductee and their queue would read "looking for (name)".

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right! I forgot about that. I did have a whole lot of sims abducted when I played that game. Having them get their personalities all messed up wasn't something you wanted to happen all of the time. It's not nearly as much fun as getting alien pregnant. That's one of the best things about Sims 2.

[identity profile] ikichi.livejournal.com 2008-05-12 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
UGH. I'm telling you, the animations are really really really tempting me to get BV. T_T But I need to see more! More! Bwahahahahah!

There are some really nice animations in this EP. I'm still exploring everything it has to offer. I'll be sure to share any other interesting discoveries with you.

Sorry to but in, but I think you DISRESPECTED THE BOW. My Legacy is practically RUN by a female Servo (Cressida Crane) and HER BOW IS BEAUTIFUL. Carry on. :)

She should be around there somewhere.

Well, if the robot wants to wear a bow, that's cool by me, but I just think that robots probably don't really NEED to have a gender assigned to them arbitrarily, in the most stereotypical of ways. I know the game wants to read them as one or the other, but why would robots have a human sex type? Do they come with detachable parts? *snicker*

If Cressida wants to rock that bow, all the power to her. I just think it should be a makeup or accessory option instead of being built in like that.

[identity profile] smjoshsims.livejournal.com 2008-05-13 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I understand. I like that detachable part comment though. :D

Well, you can woohoo with servos, right? Maybe they really do have detachable parts. :P
