Memes: Anonymous Christmas Cheer!
Meme time! I try not to go overboard with memes, but this one just seems full of holiday good will. Won't you play along?
Description taken from the very first time it was posted:
'Tis the season to... make a million memes to let everyone know just how much you appreciate them and love them. :D
Here's the plan: You comment with your username, and people will comment ANONYMOUSLY with things they love and cherish about you. I say anonymously because it makes the atmosphere lighter and more mysterious, kind of like a Secret Santa only with love and holiday cheer! People will wonder who these caring people are and appreciate the fact that they exist, not only the fact that they may be best friends with them.
Then find people you care about and have something nice to say to - even if you don't know them! - and leave them something that will make their heart feel a little warmer at night. This way, the love will go around and around and the magical spirit of the season can be cherished and appreciated by all.
You can find mine right here. If you post one, you can comment here with your link and you just might get a little anon love of your own. ^_^
ETA: I now also have another thread at
allthingsimlish , so you can go there instead. And why not join the new comm? It'll be fun!

oh wait, they probably don't have anon comments enabled.

I think we should at least post an announcement of the meme there and have people comment with their links. It'd be fun.
Hell, any activity at all on sim_spam would be fun.

I miss the sim_spam days. It sucks that simsecret is pretty well the only social forum for simmers on livejournal these days.

If she's too busy, one of use could always post it, right?

Then I guess we'll have to start pimping this community big time! :)

I just posted the link to my journal :)
- I hope it works!

(Sorry I sort of disappeared there. I had to go have a major coughing fit. It was... very unpleasant.)
Now we have to spread the word about this new comm. ^_^

No worries with that, I'm just getting over a nasty cough. It doesn't want to go away yet, ugh.
no subject
Ugh. Not at all. It just changes daily to keep things interesting. This whole violent coughing reaction to trying to eat something is a new development. *groan*
At least the headache kinda, sorta went away. *crosses fingers*

Though I guess it could be mentioned in a simming community. Does anyone still go to
You should post a link to your own in your own journal, then it'll just start spreading like all good memes do.

It'll be like valentine's day in elementary school all over again. No one will "choo-choo-choose me"!
*inner Ralph Wiggum goes fetal while whimpering*

Also, I agree it can be a little unsettling for a moment or two, wondering if anyone will post a comment, but I'm sure someone always eventually does.
no subject
Hmm, that sounds like a fun job.

I guess if someone is worried that there's nobody out there who'd say a good thing about them, then maybe it'd be best not to post, but that'd be pretty sad. I think they might be surprised.

Good point.
So there's probably little reason to worry about Ralphs.

(really, I'm not just being a smart ass)
I rarely go to any, either. I'm not much of a social butterfly.

I think it really depends on if you pimp it or not. Pimping it really does help cast a wider net (which kind of turns it into a contest, which kind of brings us right back to the Ralph issue, huh?)
Guess I'm just a crusty old Ebeneezer.

Re: Memes: Anonymous Christmas Cheer!
Excellent point, too.
Re: Memes: Anonymous Christmas Cheer!
It's not so much "pimping" (I hate that term), as it is letting people know about it.

Yeah, me too. I'm all about sharing the love over there whenever I have something to say. I don't think it's a matter of forcing anything, either. We have all sorts of nice things in there to say about people, but we would feel silly (or, worse, maybe a "suck up") saying them publicly, for others to scrutinize. It's more of a matter of being free to fully express the things we often think but rarely say.

I'm not really sure how I should respond to this.
