I am the centre of the universe: reason no. 85

The Sims 3 has been delayed until August because I am not even close to being mentally ready for it yet. I'm just that important. *snicker* The ego has landed.

Seriously, though, this wouldn't bother me in the least, and I think they should delay it to fix their countless, countless bugs, if they do exist (and, let's face it, they most likely do). However, I do feel bad for people who were getting really excited about it, and even pre-ordered it. *consoles [livejournal.com profile] cindyanne1* There, there. It will be okay.

I wonder if it's true? Seems likely to me. They delayed Spore for ages, didn't they?

I was also quite excited by this announcement. Maybe I'll eventually be ready for it, but right now I don't want to move on from the Sims 2. I love it too much :P

Spore was delayed for aaaages, and Sims 2 was delayed by six months. I'm thinking it will be at LEAST several months, if not next year.

I agree. I need more time. Maybe I'll actually be able to get my story to a place where I wouldn't mind making the leap to the new game, or at least do a spin off. (Unlikely, since I'm slow, but possible, since I've been updating more frequently.)

I'm not surprised, and I agree. It may end up getting delayed even more. Do you think they'll try to sell us another SP while we're waiting? That might be a nice consolation prize.

Sweet. It doesn't really affect me either way, but I'm glad it makes you happier. And I'm really not that surprised by the delay.

Well, I don't find happiness in other people's misfortune, but I'm really not ready for it. Maybe I'll be excited now, by the time it arrives.

Delays don't surprise me one little bit. It's seemed like it was being released really soon to me anyway. It's not like we "finish" the game, and are ready for a new one. It's non-linear.

I would actually love a new EP. One for elders/toddlers, with maybe a middle life stage thrown in for good measure. Is that too much to hope for?

I'm just reading your most recent update - I missed it when I had no internet.

I also hope that if it's delayed, they'll actually bugtest correctly and things, but I really think that's an impossible want ;)

[identity profile] orikes13.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm hoping this is true. I wasn't planning on making the jump at all, but I was a little worried about all my favorite cc creators making the jump and ceasing creating new shinies for Sims2. :}

I doubt I'll be ready to make a switch for my stories any time in the next year, but it being delayed would make my day. It seems quite late for them to make this type of delay. I thought they announced the delays for Spore and other games much further from the first announced release date.

[identity profile] traciandrus.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I pre-ordered in on a whim a couple days ago. So either way it doesn't really upset me. I only put $5 down.
I'd rather they push it back, than release it with massive problems. :)

I agree with you 100%. I was planning to hold off too, for a variety of reasons, and it would nice to not have the temptation there at all.

I know many people who weren't ready for Sims 3. This will be a welcome delay for many people, I think.

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
*chortle*

You really think they're fixing bugs?

*chokes from laughter*

Unless by "bugs" you mean "finding an even nastier version of suckRom".

That's an excellent point. It would be nice to hold the attention of our favourite cc creators for a while longer. Also, it still feels like I've just gotten into AL (and even FT), so I'm not even close to being finished with Sims 2.

It does seem late to make such an announcement, so I think there will be a lot of disappointment there for some people.

I'm also not ready to leave Sims 2 behind, especially where my story is concerned. It would be so tedious to set up a whole neighbourhood to the level my Greater Strangetown Area (S'town, Sim City, BV, LFT, and all thevacation spots) is right now.

I do think I will be happy about the lack of loading screens in The Sims 3, though. I was thinking about that just last night. I'm ready to lose the transitions between home and community lots.

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
WHY DO THEY TEASE US SO!!! *flails and gnashes teeth*

Hee hee... my husband would be happier if it was delayed. *snort* And maybe I'd actually get the taxes done on time too!

But I dunno... Amazon.com still has a release date of Feb 16. When I get an email from them telling me my shipment will be delayed I'll be more likely to believe it. :P

[identity profile] dothesmustle.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't planning on getting soon anyway.

I have Spore at the moment and I have SHARP EDGES. I hear the minimum system requirements are the same. :\ I'd rather play sims 2 with pretty graphics than sims 3 with shitty graphics.

HI I AM SHALLOW.

I agree. It will likely still have many problems, but maybe they'll manage to remove some of the massive ones? *hopes*

You sound bitter. Are you bitter? *snicker*

You're probably right, though, and it's unlikely that they'll catch all the bugs, unless they've decided to officially hire the folks at MATY (and, really, they SHOULD be paying them, given how unplayable the game can be without their fixes).

I will be optimistic, though, and hope they do manage to fix some bugs, and maybe improve the game in some way with their extra time.

Making more bugs?

[identity profile] soniabigcheese.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally? Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Apologies to those folks who've been hyped up and bitterly disappointed - once again.

Like yourselves, I've only just started getting around Bon Voyage of all things (even though I have every SP & EP to date)

Plus.... I've built up such a lot of progress in my hoods too. What with a nicely fatted folder full of CC and many families I've lovingly created and wish to 'preserve' a little longer.
I really don't want to let go of my 'comfort blankie' just yet....

[identity profile] showercapfrog.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay, I love you the way you are!

I agree with this 100%. I love my pretty Sims 2, and I doubt I'll even be able to try playing Sims 3. (Spore works, but it doesn't look ~nice~.)

LOL - I think you're on to them. Good call.

One can only hope. But its EA. So we'll see.

I would also love that. Not so much the toddlers, because I think they have enough as it is (more is always nice, though), but elder stuff would rule. I'm imagining such wonderful decorative items now. You wouldn't even believe it.

I would LOVE clothing and hairtyles that look middle aged. Some salt and pepper hair, maybe?

Oh, that's cool. :) Thanks for playing catch up.

Yes, likely an impossible want, like having 10 children, but we can dream, right?
ext_122042: (Default)

[identity profile] strange-tomato.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, maybe they've decided to turn over a new leaf with Sims 3.

*crosses fingers really hard*

[identity profile] showercapfrog.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want new *stuff* for toddlers, I want new interactions. Huggle is cute and all, but I want...kid interactions. Running around, and falling over, and things.

You could make decorative items for elders :P. I just feel like they're the forgotten life stage, and it upsets me. Salt and pepper hair would be GREAT too, with a few wrinkles. Especially if the wrinkles changed according to personality (now that really is an impossible want), with nice sims having laughter wrinkles, and mean ones having ANGRY wrinkles.

I'll keep dreaming then ;) Cindy got to fulfill her impossible want (almost!)

[identity profile] aledstrange.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
lol I would be the happiest if this were true.... :P

[identity profile] dothesmustle.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I only like how Spore looks in the cell stage on my computer. As soon as I got to the land dweller stage I was like, "WHAT IS THIS."

[identity profile] cindyanne1.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes almost! :P I could still do the "Graduate three children from college" LTW... but it's not really as impossible.

I'm still reeling about the California Octuplets. Whoa. O_o
