Hard drive failure is imminent...

Yeah, that's right - imminent. That's exactly what my computer said.

Sweating? Who's sweating?

I'm not sweating, I'm BACKING UP my game. What else would I do at a time like this? Oh good. It's all copied over to the external hard drive... cc and all. I can breath again now.

I called tech. support, and they're sending me everthing I need to package up the hard drive to send it off to be replaced, which is awesome. In the meantime, I was told to back up anything I don't want to lose. I wonder if he could hear my blood turning to ice when he gave me that line.

At least Ripp finds it funny... this icon is going to serve me well during hard times.

Man, I feel your pain. This last round with my computer, I really did almost have a heart attack.

I got a "dumping physical memory" message and I just STARED at the screen. And STARED. And STARED. I couldn't even do my fingers crossed chant thing.

The timing's kind of nice, though. You're getting ready for a break and, it seems, so is your computer.

(and how freaky, it's like everyone's computer is on the same "cycle")

Heh, we've all been having computer issues lately. It's like they're all in the same union or something. :P

Crap. I hope mine doesn't give me a list of demands.

I know what will be on the top of the list.

"Better working conditions, including SHORTER hours and a cat hair free working environment."

AIN'T happening.

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-07-22 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, mine would be asking for shorter hours too, if not vacation time. Good thing computers can't talk, isn't it?

*now fears these words will anger her computer*

Both of mine will be asking for someone who treats them nicely, and who doesn't think verbal abuse is a good way to get things working. xD

Yeah, I'm with all of you. Working conditions would need to be improved. I can hear the computer pointing out the crappy desk I have it placed on.

Computer: FAKE wood? Please...

Me: That's not my desk, so I have no choice in the matter.

Computer: Also, I need better hours. I work later AND get started early?

Me: It's flextime.

[identity profile] abbycat900.livejournal.com 2008-07-22 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
My computer is on a desk that is falling apart. So, I think it would want 'improved work areas' too.

[identity profile] music-simbol.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
At least you have a desk for your computer. My lappy is always on my bed or my lap. Talk about harsh working conditions. :P

I have a funny feeling mine would echo yours & then add, "Oh &, while you're at it, would you give me a case?!?!"

[identity profile] madame-ugly.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine has to have a case or it would die in a second from cat hair and dust bunnies.

We had 2 long hair & 1 medium hair cats in the house up until the persian died in April. But the 2 ragdoll crosses moult enough that I don't think the PC notices our lack of Cleo. I have to vacuum the fur out =P

It's terrifying, isn't it?

The timing is pretty good. I'm heading out of town in a couple of days, so the computer can just rest and wait for me to return.

All the crazy simmer hormones have our computer cycles syncing up. That makes sense.

(In RL, cycle syncing freaks me out. It made it so that my mother and I were at our craziest at the same time of the month, and that's not a good thing AT ALL.)

Ugh. I don't want to think about that. I have four girls, lol. *worries*

Yeah, but do you get as crazy as we did? Is it even possible? ;)

I seriously feel your pain in a big way, but maybe you could all just do some primal scream therapy together...

Oh, imagine how my father felt being the only male in a house with three synced females. (for the longest time we only had female pets, too--thankfully all spayed)
