Drabble: Why Frances doesn't like pirates, ninjas, and vampires

Prompt: Why Frances doesn't like pirates, ninjas, and vampires
Characters: Beau Broke and Frances J. Worthington III
Wordcount: 100
Warnings: none

Beau had rambled on about the movie for what seemed like an hour. He had recapped the scenes, and even quoted the quotes.

It was just so... common. It was an amusement of the drooling, sweating, uncultured masses.

Frances was better than that.

“So, yeah… how about you? What did you think of it?”

“It was… interesting.”

Beau laughed. “You hated it, didn’t you?”

“Yes.”

“But it had pirates. Everyone loves pirates.”

Frances lifted his brows. “Well, maybe that’s the problem.”

Beau leaned back, carelessly crossing his arms. “Don’t take this the wrong way, Frances… but you’re such a snob.”

I'm with Frances 100%. Everyone does NOT love pirates (vampires/ninjas/etc).

Yes, that includes the Johnny Depp too-much-eyeliner ones.

Or "interview" vampires.

Or crouching/hidden ninjas.

Those things are pretty overhyped, I agree. Not to say that I don't like some of those things...

Frances is one of those contrary sorts that dislikes anything that's too popular with the masses. He's too educated in the finer things in life to be able to really enjoy a "Hollywood" movie. Or well... he just doesn't usually give those things a chance.

*snicker* I must be a contrary sort. Or at least a bit.

Now if I like something, and it becomes popular that's fine. But bandwagon jumping? I'm more apt to jump OFF a bandwangon than onto on. (my wife is contrary, too--contrary, what a good word).

But my contrariness is not born of being refined. I'm as trashy as they come. I just don't like crowds.

I hate vampires, except in-game ones (obviously *points to icon*). They are so dumb it's hard not to love them!

Oh, I don't HATE any of the mentioned, I just don't get the adoration they are shown.

They just seem so. . .limited? limiting?. . .story/movie/whatever wise.

I can see that. I like some of the ideas behind pirates and ninjas, but their movies and such are usually pretty lame. Ditto with vampires. Especially Twilight. Oi.

Is Twilight one of those "buffy" type things? I never got into that and really don't know anything about it besides it has a very dedicated fan base.

CBS had a vampire show on earlier this year and it was SO bad you couldn't even watch it to make fun of it. That's bad. (surprise, surprise, it was cancelled)

I saw an episode of that CBS vampire show at the in-laws' house. It was horrible.

Twilight is a book series about vampires. Sparkly vampires. I haven't even read it all, but I read some excerpts and it was fairly painful. It was a scathing review, but I can't seem to find it. I'm sure if you're feeling masochistic you could find more on it, though. ;)

Was that Moonlight or something like that?

Yeah, I think that was it.

Man, you could smell that one coming.
